Service department dis-assembled pressure washer without my knowledge or consent when machine was dropped off for evaluation. Offered $795 to rebuild.
On 5/24/19, *** (aka Dirt Killer) performed a $95 diagnosis of my power washer by dis-assembling the machine without my knowledge or consent. The machine was functioning when I took it in. I was given estimate of $795 to rebuild and repair machine that they dis-assembled unnecessarily. The original cost of machine is $826.25. I declined service and said I would pick-up machine. I was provided 3 boxes of parts, including rims from the tires, when I requested the unit back. I expected the washer to be in one piece, not 3 boxes.Tire rims have nothing to do with engine performance. They destroyed my machine and I want a replacement.

Desired Outcome

I would like a new replacement power washer that is equivalent to the model 1120/1120T (see original receipt for details).

We have a record of *** dropping his pressure washer off for service of 5/24/19. His unit is a Kranzle 1120 which was manufactured from the early 1990's- early 2012. At the time of drop off his unit was dropped off because it was not pumping water, and his accessories leaked. Its company policy to take a minimum deposit of $71.25 for diagnostics of a cold water pressure washer, as well as anything additional for accessories or machines that do not start. Hence the $95 charge. This charge serves as a deposit to the repair and typically is applied towards our labor rate which is $95 per hour. During our hour of diagnostics, our findings were that the pressure gauge was broken, his pump oil was milky, his plungers had pit marks on them showing signs of cavitation. The water seals were dried up and cracked. The trigger assembly provided also had a crack along the gun handle. The machines turbo nozzle also had a hair line crack in the ceramics. It was our recommendation to have the pump rebuilt, including the following- a pressure gauge, water seals, check valves, unloader assembly, unloader kit, pump oil, a turbo nozzle rebuild kit, and a new gun handle. We also noted that the only part left to replace would be a capacitor and as it had to be removed it made sense to do this repair as well with the difference in cost only being $44 dollars. The labor estimate including time spent diagnosing would be 4 hours in total. This brings us to an estimate of $380 in labor with an additional $401.49 in parts. This adds to an estimate of $781.49 estimating shop supplies (waste oil disposal, and water usage) at just under $15. This brings his estimated repair to a total of $795 before taxes. This information was presented to the customer on 5/28/19 at which time *** had declined to have any additional work done, notifying us he would pick up the unit. At this time no further work was approved and as per company policy on 5/29/19 the unit was boxed up and set aside. At the time of drop off our terms and conditions clearly state the following- If after estimate is delivered to customer, customer declines work, the technician will not reassemble the machine. Upon paying the deposit and leaving the machine in our custody for repair this procedure was followed exactly as it is outlined on the Service ticket that was filled out by *** at the time of dropping off the machine. The reason all pumps are disassembled is to visually inspect the components inside the pump. there is no way of doing this without breaking down the pump head, and in this case housing. This machine is over a decade old and as is evident by the pumps components was starved of water, this is what lead to the machines long term failure, not disassembly. At anytime this machine can be reassembled using his old components and parts, but it will still not perform as nothing would be fixed. This service would require additional labor cost as the time spent with the machine has already exceeded the deposit paid on 5/24/19.
