DirtBusters Laundromat

I have been going to the Dirtbusters Laundromat in Centereach on middle county road (aka Fun Wash) for 6 months. I was a regular customer, they knew me (us) there. I had well over 23 lbs of clothes. We dropped them off on Saturday 11/23/19 and picked up on Monday 11/25/19 @ 7:15am. Well I went to work, after work I started opening up the laundry to put it away. 3/4 of my laundry is missing. I called them told the girl on the phone my cell number, so the manager can call me back, the more I realized more was missing I called again, she stated she didn't call you back yet. No she did not. Then I went there showed the list of items missing. She called her and they spoke in Spanish, thinking I didn't understand. They admitted a new girl did my wash and dry. I was nice and to the point I want my stuff back or you will pay for my lost clothing items. My boyfriend an my clothes are missing. The manager called me back and we spoke told her the items, she said she was going to meet me at 7:30am on Tuesday 11/26/19, she didn't show up. Went to work, so I sent her an text and the copy of the list for all the missing clothes. she said and I quote. She told me she fell asleep, and then she will go to store today Tuesday 11/26/19 to look for my items. I told her I have a bad feeling you will not find my items and they are a lot of money (clothing) that you lost. How are you going to handle this. I will not buy new clothes, they will reimburse me money up front.( Either is all clothing and items found or reimburse me in full in cash). I will go to the right channels to get this resolved. This is insane how the hell do you mess up the weight and lose all these clothes. WTH if I post the list you all would be shocked. And the manager also told me another customer called after me, stating their clothes are missing as well. Plus I received 4 items of clothing that were not ours. How can you treat your faithful customers like this. I want my clothes or reimbursement for them all, and it isn't cheap either. Dirt busters are held responsible and accountable for this the owner and manager.

Review: On March **, 2015 my partner and I dropped off 42 pounds of laundry to be serviced. On March **, 2015 my partner went to retrieve our laundry and was only returned 18 pounds. The employee in charge advised that the other 24 pounds was either sent to another consumer/business or was stolen. He advised us that the [redacted] of the facility would contact us to resolve the issue. On Wednesday April *, 2015 we received a call from the [redacted] advising that our clothes may have been sent to another company by mistake and requested we come in to go through that company’s bags of laundry. Our effort to locate our misplaced laundry was futile. Neither the [redacted] or the employee in charge the day of the loss could tell us what happened with our clothes. The [redacted] advised that she would contact the [redacted] to decide how we would be compensated for our loss. On Tuesday April *, 2015, my partner received a call from the [redacted] to discuss how we would be compensated. My partner and her mother (witness), went to the Dirt Buster’s laundry mat and met with the [redacted] who advised them that she spoke to the owner, and the [redacted] decided that the employee who was in charge the day our clothes disappeared would be held financially responsibile. The [redacted] further advised that the [redacted] requested us to purchase and bring in 24 pounds of clothes along with their receipts for full reimbursement. The [redacted] assured us that once we brought in the clothes with proof of purchase we would be reimbursed in full immediately. On Monday April **, 2015, my partner and I brought in a 24 pound bag of replacement clothing along with their itemized receipts. We weighed the items in front of the [redacted] to confirm the amount purchased was the same of the amount lost. We also provided the receipts of the items that we had to pay out of pocket in order to replace our personal items that were lost due to the negligence of the laundry mat. The total amount of the items are $697.62. This amount weighs out to replace 24 pounds of laundry that was lost between two people. When we showed the receipts to the [redacted] she immediately recanted the verbal commitment that she had made with us on April *, 2015 and refused to reimburse us. The laundry that was lost was the clothing of two people, not one. We are two college students who live in a basement apartment. We are now each missing half of our clothes which we cannot afford to replace on our own. We have used our credit cards to purchase these items and now have an outstanding bill. We were respectful enough to re-purchase exactly what was lost and at a discounted price. We have been both cooperative and patient throughout this very unfortunate process and we deserve to have the Dirt Buster's Laundry mat commit to their end of the deal to take responsiblity for their mistake. We have been customers of this facility for over a year and are appalled by their handling of this matter.Desired Settlement: We are requesting full reimbursement for the 24 pounds of laundry that we were told to purchase in exchange for full reimbursement under the verbal agreemet/committent made by the [redacted], and the [redacted] of Dirt Buster's Laundry mat as a result of the negligent handling of our personal property. [redacted] is in possession of the receipts which total $697.62.
