To Whom It May Concern;
As the customer stated she left her garage window open. In the event of the high winds we get in Idaho, any time you leave a window, entry door, attic access, etc you will create a vacuum which will push and pull on the door. This can damage the
door. In this situation winds were exceeding MPH. When Bryce went back the following day to look at the door that was damaged, the wind was still blowing and the back entry door had been left open for the dogs to roam in and out of the garage. This caused more damage to the door through out the day. We contacted the builder and told him that if we put additional bracing on the door this would prevent any additional damage and correct the door. We made several attempts to contact the homeowners over approximately a week time periodThey would never reply back. In the meantime they continued to use the damaged door, therefore causing the panels to tear. This is a builders economy door that is used on several homes. The bracing that is installed at the time of installation is adequate. This wind would also damage a fully insulated vinyl back door and a fully insulated steel back door if you leave a window, entry door or attic access open. We do not warranty wind damage because it is an act of nature. Once the product has been installed, preventing these issue from happening is no longer Discount Doors Company responsibility. This is the homeowner's responsibility. We are willing to work with these homeowners to give them the best price we can on a new door but we are not responsible for replacing the door at no cohave no control over Mother Nature
We have been in business years in Jefferson County. We have an excellent reputation and have always stood behind our product. Unfortunately we have no control over Mother Nature and cannot warranty something we have no control over
Sincerely,

First, we tried to contact Discount Doors multiple times and have left message about our door. We responded every time they contacted us, which was twice. Which I will submit phone records showing they only called twice and we called them back. We never once didn't respond to them. Second, the day we left the back door open we left the garage door partially open to keep the air from pushing on the door. Like we stated before, we have never had a garage door break due to leaving a window open. We also have statements from other homeowners who leave their windows open and do not have this problem. If you would like I can get a photo of one of the doors and also a statement from the builder who put it in stating that the door was put in properly with a brace. Discount doors did not put braces in like they should. If Idaho is known to have big windstorms that will bend their doors they should take the extra step to put braces one. Also, there isn't more damage happening. It is the same damage from the day we first had the problem.
