Review: Verbal contract with gentleman's handshake on an agreed amount of $800.00 for used mobility scooter. The owner of Discount Mobility Products LLC agreed to the price of $800.00 with [redacted] on Oct 17th 2014 to deliver one used 4 wheeled electric mobility scooter with repairs to include: paint the unit Blue, repair all lights to working order, repair broken directional light mounts, put pin in seat post for stability, and check unit over for serviceability. This conversation was witnessed by [redacted]'s son-in-law. Upon delivery of mobility scooter to [redacted]'s home the store owner told [redacted] that he would have to now pay $1000.00 if he wanted the scooter. [redacted] then told the man that wasn't the deal they made and to leave his property. This is not a good business practice and has placed undue anxiety and stress upon Mr. [redacted]. Can you do something about it?Desired Settlement: Owner of Discount Mobility Products LLC should honor the original Verbal Contract as agreed to by both parties.
After calling Mr. [redacted], he claims that he did notfile this complaint, nor did he state who did. Yes, a verbalhandshake was indeed given with no downpayment t bu t I also haatold him at that time, that I was unaware what kind of timeor materials would be involved in repairing the directionalsdue to unknowns with wiring issues and that it might be slightlymore. My orginal asking price was 1000.00 then 900.00, butsaid I would take 800.00 with free delivery, if the problemswere not overly time' consuming. As it turned out the problemwas 'more extensive, and a part needed 'to be ordered to makeall the lights work, which would involve an additional tripto his home, no charge, since he needed to use the unitimmediately. I asked for 900.00 (not 1000.00) consideringthe extra time, parts and all the care we put into refurbishingthe unit, as the unit was reconditioned with great detail. He agreed verbally to 900.00 over the phonE¥ then changed hismind aft.er delivering it (15 miles one way) to his home, heis an older gentleman. He did not tell me to leave his propertylike a trespasser, but just to take it back to the store. Icomplied. A new oomparable unit sells for 3500.00, this wasolder (look~ng like new now) and 25% of that is hardlyovercharging wi~h delivery and an additonal 45 day warrantygratis as well. We rarely get any complaints because of thequali~y work we do, fair prices quoted and service given.Mr. [redacted] purchased a stairlift from us previously, he canfeel free to call .anuytime if service is needed. I was rathershocked by this complain~, since I know I forewarned him ofunknowns t and gave him a very fair price as a repeat customer.
