Double to Triple the cost of Frontier Utilities
I have been a customer with Frontier Utilities for the past year and my monthly electricity cost consistenly ranged between $60-80 per month. When I switched to Discount Power I locked in a lower rate than Frontier however every month has been above $90 ranging from $90 - $180 per month. Discount Power has a nasty habit of charging a $20 disconnection fee if you are 1 day late. I paid my January bill 3 days late and was charged a $20 disconnect fee... I called and was assured that I would receive a $20 credit on my February bill but on my February bill Discount Power charged another $20 disconnect fee then deducted the $20 from my January credit essentially nullifying my $20 credit from January. Keep in mind the February bill isn't even due yet until the 24th but they already ADDED ANOTHER $20 DISCONNECTION FEE!

STAY AWAY FROM DISCOUNT POWER AT ALL COST! THEY WILL NICKEL AND DIME YOU TO DEATH! I WILL REPORT THIS TO THE BBB and POWER TO CHOOSE!

Totally Annoying Telemarketers
I have been receiving multiple telemarketing calls each week asking me to switch to Discount Power. They always follow the same script. The telemarketing person says they will hold the line while I retrieve a printed copy of a recent electric bill. Then they ask for the details: Supplier Agreement Number, Account Number, Name/Address. Then they transfer you to an independent "verifier" to verify the switch. I have repeatedly told them to stop calling me. My number is in the National Do-Not-Call registry. I really wish they would stop calling. This is a total waste of time. I have resorted to playing loud music in the background to help the telemarketer person realize that they just called me the other day. I wish there was some sort of place where my number could be entered as a "please do not call" number. Oh--right. That's what the National Do-Not-Call list is for. Oh well--Wishful thinking. I have resorted to wasting as much of their time as humanly possible. I give them all fictitious information. Such a waste of time.

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: You claim that your customers are able to check the monthly rate that your company offers and this was never provided to me I have not, at any point-even upon request, received a copy of my agreement with DPI I was told by a representative that they didn't know if I started at a fixed rate (which I believed I had) and when the change to a variable rate may have taken place I asked for an agreement in writing and was refused I was not able to speak with a representative about the $check that was offered to me, but was left a message I called DPI back and was unable to reach a representative (although I tried during their business hours on multiple occasions)I left a message in response stating that, while I appreciate some form of action to make their rate "reasonable" I was still over-charged (compared to other competitors in the same area and for the same time frame) by over $ I find DPI's way of doing business to be very poor and it is correct that I have since changed my power supplier and would not recommend their business to anyone in the future They were unhelpful and incompetent when dealing with this issue Sincerely, [redacted]

Website Complaint Response:While we cannot promise savings versus the utility company every single month, Discount Power’s goal is to show a savings versus the utility over a period of timeMr [redacted] enrolled most recently in October of At this time, wholesale energy market costs began to climb significantlyAs the Discount Power Terms and Conditions of Electric Service explain, when a customer has a variable rate plan, the variable rate can fluctuate based on changes in the wholesale power marketWe understand the frustration with the recent increase in the variable rateUnfortunately, due to unusually high wholesale costs this winter, our variable rate did increase, as the rates are based on current market conditionsThe fluctuations of the wholesale power market can affect suppliers differently, contributing to the variance in rates from one supplier to anotherOur current rates are available each month through the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority website ( [redacted] ) so that our customers can stay up-to-date on our rates and how they compare to other suppliers, at their own convenienceThird party suppliers, like Discount Power, do not have control over when a customer’s service begins or ends; this is determined by the customer’s utility companyDiscount Power received a drop request from Mr***’s utility company, CL&P, on January 22, which advised that his service through Discount Power would end effective February 4, Mr [redacted] was contacted and spoke with a Customer Care Representative on March 10, who offered to re-rate Mr***’s supply charges for his December 20, – January 22, and January 22, – February 4, billing cycles at a rate equivalent to Discount Power’s cost for that supplyThis resulted in a refund offer of $Due to wholesale energy market conditions during this timeframe, the rate, equivalent to Discount Power’s cost, was not what Mr [redacted] had requested, and he accepted the refund stating that he may choose not to cash the checkAs of March 10, this refund is being processed and a check will be mailed to Mr [redacted] as soon as possible Sent on: 3/13/3:26:PM

Website Complaint Response: This customer was on Discount Power's variable rate, and due to the high wholesale rates this winter, Discount Power's variable rates increasedThe rate that the customer noticed online was an introductory rate for new customers only, and given the timing of when a new customer would have started flowing with DPI, they would start flowing in a month that has a wholesale cost lower than that of JanuaryThis customer has been with DPI since 2010, and unfortunately we did have to dramatically increase our prices to cover the extreme wholesale costs this winter, but this clearly states that this is the first time this has occurred Sent on: 2/26/9:17:AM

Discount Power (“DPI”) thanks you for the opportunity to respond In October of 2014, DPI employed an outside telemarketing firm to solicit energy sales in the state of [redacted] (“**”) These third party telemarketers were supplied with the Federal, [redacted] and internal “Do Not Call” (“DNC”) lists to upload into their dialing system to be compliant with the various DNC regulations Unfortunately, the system utilized by this company allowed some restricted numbers to be dialed repeatedly over the span of a few weeks, inconveniencing some PA residents After advising the telemarketer to fix their system ASAP, DPI had no choice but to terminate their contract Again, DPI apologizes for the inconvenience and terminated the contract of the telemarketer Ken F [redacted] Licensing and Regulatory Administrator Discount Power, Inc [redacted] ###-###-#### Ex [redacted]

[redacted] , The customer called on 4/2/and requested he be droppedDiscount Power, Inc("DPI") immediately placed a drop on his account which takes place on his next meter read date of 5/11/ The date is determined by his utility, [redacted] Power, not DPI [redacted] ***

Revdex.com, Attached please find the Welcome Letters and the independent Third Party Verification ("TPV") recording of Ms [redacted] agreeing to enroll with Discount Power, Inc("DPI") on 2/23/ She enrolled for months at a rate of $kWh with a $early termination fee if terminated prior to the end of the term but after the rescission periodThe [redacted] rate at the time was $kWh plus distribution charges, etc She was mailed a copy of her Terms of Service, her Disclosure Label and her Welcome Letters all clearly confirming what had been told to her by the telemarketer for her review and reference and yet she chose not to rescind her enrollment but to enjoy the rate that was lower than the Utility company until this past month, when she noticed the *** rates in [redacted] dropped below DPI's Coincidence...? The fact is the customer chose to complain because she would now like to receive the lower [redacted] rate after agreeing to a month term for which DPI has already purchased the electricity and would not be able to recoup its expenditure without the early termination fee of $(not $as the customer states in the complaint) As to the customer's contention that she did not receive her $dining certificate, the Welcome Letters (attached) clearly state that the customer must go to [redacted] in order to receive the certificate, which according to our records, the customer has not done DPI will waive the early termination fee for this customer despite not being required to do so Discount Power, Inc

Website Complaint Response: This customer is on Discount Power's variable rateDue to the high wholesale rates this winter, Discount Power's variable rates increasedOur variable rates have been coming down since our high January pricesDiscount Power has no cancellation fees on this product, so the customer is not penalized for going back to the utility for generation service Sent on: 2/26/8:29:AM
