We had two side walks that needed replace with a wall that divided them We ask Discount Remodelers to do the job and we paid them half the money up front We asked them to have the job done in June and it was the end of Sept until they got to it First they poured the lower half of the sidewalk and then poured the upper part on top of the lower half using it as a foundation for the wall When they were finished the upper sidewalk was slopped to the lower sidewalk and when it rained there was over an inch of water that just sat right outside a year old lady's door who walks with a walker There was no place for the water to go The lower sidewalk was slopped toward the door to the house So everytime it rains there is a puddle that forms that is about foot long on the sidewalk and it is over an inch deep In the winter time it all turns to ice Not a good situation for a year old lady We asked Discount Remodelers to redo the sidewalk but they refused We asked them to fix the problem so they sent some one out to cut a line up the side of the concrete to allow the water to go down, that did not work They came with a drill and put holes in along the wall and that did not work They talked about putting a drain in but the sidewalk was slopped to the door not the parking lot So that would not work either Discount Remodelers would not fix the sidewalk, but they collected $for a pour job They even had the nerve to call us for the remainder $ I told them they would get it after they replaced the side walk They said that we would have to pay for the whole side walk again We said no you messed up the slopping of the side walk then you need to pay for it Well it has been almost a year and they still have not done anything to fix the problem We contacted another concrete contractor and he did a drawing for us to show us that each individual slap of concrete is at a different slop and in the middle there is a hill So there is no way to get the slop we need to make the water go to the parking lot without removing the entire sidewalk So we have to start all over again and have it removed

We had two side walks that needed replace with a wall that divided them. We ask Discount Remodelers to do the job and we paid them half the money up front. We asked them to have the job done in June 2014 and it was the end of Sept 2014 until they got to it. First they poured the lower half of the sidewalk and then poured the upper part on top of the lower half using it as a foundation for the wall. When they were finished the upper sidewalk was slopped to the lower sidewalk and when it rained there was over an inch of water that just sat right outside a 93 year old lady's door who walks with a walker. There was no place for the water to go. The lower sidewalk was slopped toward the door to the house. So everytime it rains there is a puddle that forms that is about 10 foot long on the sidewalk and it is over an inch deep. In the winter time it all turns to ice. Not a good situation for a 93 year old lady. We asked Discount Remodelers to redo the sidewalk but they refused. We asked them to fix the problem so they sent some one out to cut a line up the side of the concrete to allow the water to go down, that did not work. They came with a drill and put holes in along the wall and that did not work. They talked about putting a drain in but the sidewalk was slopped to the door not the parking lot. So that would not work either. Discount Remodelers would not fix the sidewalk, but they collected $2100.00 for a pour job. They even had the nerve to call us for the remainder $3075.00. I told them they would get it after they replaced the side walk. They said that we would have to pay for the whole side walk again. We said no you messed up the slopping of the side walk then you need to pay for it. Well it has been almost a year and they still have not done anything to fix the problem. We contacted another concrete contractor and he did a drawing for us to show us that each individual slap of concrete is at a different slop and in the middle there is a hill. So there is no way to get the slop we need to make the water go to the parking lot without removing the entire sidewalk. So we have to start all over again and have it removed.

Review: On February 4, 2016 I signed a contract with Discount Remodelers and gave the owner $3,800 for the down payment. He said that the work will take 3 weeks but will need to wait until the weather was nicer. He said I would be the first on his list to begin work. After many phone calls, the owner decided to wait to start until I retired (3/31/16). I told him no, that I did not need to be there. Needles to say, he began on April 12, 2016 and I gave him a check for $3,000 (per the contract). He lied and did jobs before he did mine. I checked the weather in March and there were many days for him to begin. He also told me it would take 3 working weeks which to me is 15 days. The workers were here about 53 working days!! They built a room in the addition (which was the project) for my washer and dryer. Because my washer was a front load washer, I was only able to open it part ways and the owner did credit me with a new washer. I also cannot open my dryer the entire way and I continue to struggle with getting the clothes out of the dryer due to how far I can open it. I added an extra light to my dining room area and was told over the phone $25. The owner charged me $175 on the final bill with I have NOT paid. The light switch in my kitchen was not put in correctly and needs to be straightened out. The dry wall in the dining room which they did was not sanded correctly, is now cracking, you can plainly see that this was not a professional job because you can tell exactly where they replaced everything. The wall area has a big seam and is now cracking. I bought varnish and did work on the trim to hurry this project along. The ceiling looks horrible and needs to be completely redone. When the owner came for his final payment, I refused to give it to him because of the sloppy work and that I want it fixed correctly. I am in the process of getting an estimate to have this done. The owner told me I was too "fussy" which no contractor should do. I now found that the fascia they put up is wrinkling. When I texted them, I do not receive a response. Even the building inspector couldn't believe what a bad job was done. There was even a leak in the roof which they needed to fix. I'm sure there's more I could say but I hope this explains enough to make you aware of what is happening.Desired Settlement: My desire is that when I have the estimate from another contractor to fix everything, I would like Discount Remodelers to credit my final bill and possibly pay for the extra charges if there are any. They did a very sloppy job and I should not have to pay for this until it's done correctly.

Review: This company repaired our porch by installing new concrete and jacking up roof adding new support posts. Within 4 months concrete cracked in 2 places.( No expansion joints). The posts aren't tied into the roof. The roof has sagged and the post are loose in which they are twisting. Dangerous. I have made numerous calls and left messages. Still no one responds.Desired Settlement: A safe porch roof
