Hello,It is our companies policy with a rotate and balance to only balance the 2 tires that come to the front. If any customer wants all 4 tires balanced all they have to do is ask and we will happily balance all 4. We have been performing rotates and balances since we opened like this and at all 6...

of our locations. Never have we had a safety issue with this method. After talking to the manager at the Frederick location this is what I see happened. When the customer heard the long noise with the guys trying to take the lug nuts off the nut was on so tight from the last place who did his tires we could not remove the nut. Our technician came in and told the manager about the problem. Our manger then told the customer and I believe there might have been a miscommunication that we could get the nut off but the key might break in the process. When we did break the lug nut off the key broke in the process. This key is subject to wear and tear over time and after many uses gets weak. At this point the manager after talking with the customer told the technician to remove all the locks and replace them with standard lug nuts. We do not stock the locks and locking lug nuts and thought it's better to have all lug nuts on the vehicle instead of leaving it blank. Most vehicles do not have locks on the spare and that was our fault for not checking if the spare had a lock before the customer left. The spare is only attached to the vehicle with 3 lug nuts. We put it back exactly how it was presented to us just without a lock. At the end of the service it was apparent the customer was not happy and we did not charge him for anything. We will gladly buy a new lock and 5 new locking lug nuts for the customer to have but we do not stock them and will need a day or 2 to get them in. I'm sorry that this service was so greatly disappointing we never meant to cause damage to the tires or vehicle. This has been our standard rotate and balance process since we opened in 1998.
