CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!
I took my 16 year old "working great" Hoover Windtunnel vacuum to this shop (Mr. [redacted] is what this gentleman said his name was) to have a couple of "minor" repairs done, nothing difficult for a true repair person. Problems started when I retrieved the vacuum, was loading it in the back seat and noticed my BRAND NEW yellow bristled roller brush had been replaced with a old dirty white bristled roller. I went back into the shop and asked what happened to my brush. He "got defensive" and told me the bearing was broken in my roller and he had to use epoxy on it and it would take 24 hours to dry. I told him that was a new roller and worked just fine and would pick my brush up tomorrow. When I got home and proceeded to inspect what I thought was my vacuum, the tri-colored HEPA filters had been replaced with dirty, oily thin white filters and although he had replaced the cord with a used one, the areas on this cord where the coating was missing had been colored in with black marker...and the week old, nearly empty costly vacuum cleaner bag had been replaced with an OLD crumpled, dirty thin almost full bag...and to top that off, the power switch was now upside down...OFF was ON and vice versa!! I called the shop and asked Mr [redacted] why he had taken my filters and bag and told him about the cord and switch. He told me he didn't take my filters, he simply cleaned off the ones I had and that was the same bag that was in the machine when I brought it in. He then proceeded to tell me that he would order me a new brush, give me a new bag and filters and flip the switch. I took it back to the shop that day. I told him I didn't even think that was my vacuum. At any rate I picked the vacuum up the next day and darned if the power button was not still upside down. This man had the nerve to tell me he didn't see what difference it made, it still came on. I told him it wasn't like that when I brought it in. Irate does not begin to explain my emotions. I brought it back home and the more I looked at that vacuum the more it occurred to me this was NOT MY VACUUM! The full bag indicator light was missing, the door to the tube that connects to attachments was missing and it was just DIRTY. I dug through my warranty papers and found my owners manual....he had exchanged my vacuum for a different model (close but no cigar). I took it back to the shop with the manual and proceeded to as Christ-like as I could muster, tell him that was not my vacuum and that he as a liar and a thief. He told me he was sorry he took the job and that if I felt that way not to come into his shop again. I said I would be back for the door and that I would make sure nobody else had to go through this. So this is my attempt to try to prevent anyone from wasting money, losing sleep or your property by using this shop "DISCOUNT VACUUM" located on Bemiss in Valdosta GA. HORRIBLE is truly the rating this shop/person deserves! I wish I had 1) listened to my gut and 2) thought to read the available reviews before I had solicited service, but I'll be praying for Mr [redacted].
