As the compliance consultant for the dealership, I have reviewed the documents related to the vehicle purchase and discussed the matter with the dealershipDocuments provided by Discover Auto Sales show that MsW*** purchased a Buick Rendezvous on 2/12/ At the time of the
purchase, there were no concerns brought to the dealership's attention by the customer After the purchase, the dealership reports they did assist the customer with replacing a door handle that was damaged by her child and by replacing a gas cap issue related to her passing the State required emissions However, the dealership disputes MsW***' claim that she told them about a possible transmission problem immediately after she purchased the vehicle The dealership notes that the customer only reported a possible issue with the vehicle's transmission on 7/28/16, which is more than months after the vehicle purchase Additionally, MsW*** was provided with a Month/3,Mile Drivetrain Vehicle Protection Plan, and no claims were made concerning this problem by MsW*** with the Plan Administrator during the interim. We believe the dealership has been reasonable in their efforts to assist MsW*** with her concerns There is no evidence provided that reflects the dealership failed to properly disclose the vehicle's condition There is also no information provided which supports the dealership being held accountable for alleged issues that appear to have developed a considerable time after the vehicle purchase, and outside of the terms of the Protection Plan for the vehicle Therefore, we consider the customer's request to issue a refund or provide another vehicle as unreasonable At this time, the dealership is not willing to assist the customer with the desired resolution requested in her complaint to your office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 414-788-9001. Sincerely, Ruben B***, Consultant

As the compliance consultant for the dealership, I have discussed the complaint with Discover Auto Sales.  The dealership informed me that Ms. [redacted]'s vehicle was purchased almost 2 years ago in December of 2014; not in 2015 as stated by the complainant.  The dealership also informed me...

that they have been working with the customer in the meantime to determine if they can assist them with a resolution to their complaint.   Preliminary information shows there was no frame damage found when the dealership inspected the vehicle prior to the sale.  However, the Discover Auto Sales has set up an appointment for Monday, September 19 to have the vehicle re-inspected by an independent third party.  The dealership would like to determine if the claims in the complaint can be validated, or if the customer's concerns are the result of problems that occurred after the vehicle purchase. We will respond again to this complaint after the vehicle inspection has been completed and the findings are provided.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at ###-###-####. [redacted] B. [redacted], Compliance Consultant

As the compliance consultant for Discover Auto Sales, I am once again responding to this complaint on their behalf.  After Ms. W[redacted] filed the complaint with your office, it appears that she followed up by filing a complaint with the WI DOT.  Since the WI DOT is the regulatory agency over licensed WI dealerships, we were under the impression they would be looking into the matter for the customer and the complaint would be closed with your office.  Nevertheless, we were contacted by Inv. Jim B[redacted] of the WI DOT regarding her complaint and provided him with copies of the documents related to the vehicle purchase.  We also informed him of the dealership's attempts to assist the customer.  As of today's date, there has been no action taken against Discover Auto Sales regarding the allegations made in the customer's complaint.  The dealership still maintains the position that the vehicle was properly disclosed to the customer, and believes their attempts to assist the customer after the vehicle purchase was reasonable.  It should also be noted that the customer received a warranty with her vehicle purchase, and did not make any claims regarding the problems alleged in her complaint. At this time, Discover Auto Sales is not prepared to issue any refund or offer any alternative assistance to the customer.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (414) 788-9001.  Thank you. Ruben

Review: I purchased a car from Discover Auto in July. I had nothing but problems with the car. They had to replace the master cylinder. Then I had taken it in to have an emissions test, and it would not pass. I was going to take the car back to them Sept, 16th, 2013, but the car died on September 13th. I tried to deal with them, but they told me it was not against the law to sell a car that doesn't pass emissions. While it may not be illegal it is not a good business practice. I paid almost $5000 for a car that only had problems and it is now dead. The motor needs to be replaced. They are not cooperating with me at all. They are shady! The car is 2002 and only 90,000 miles. It should not have that kind of issue.Desired Settlement: I would like the dealership to either replace the car with another as I am paying a loan on a car that does not work, fix the car so it will pass emissions or pay off the remaining loan balance and take the car back.

On 9/20/13, Discover

Auto Sales informed me that Ms. [redacted] contacted them regarding an alleged

engine problem, and demanded that the dealership get the vehicle towed in to

take care of the problem. After discussing the matter with the dealership, I

informed them that there was no information to show they were responsible for

the customer's problems after the vehicle purchase. I also informed the

dealership that it would be the customer's responsibility to get the vehicle to

the dealership if they were considering any assistance.

Review: I purchased a 2006 Pontiac G6 on February 21, 2014. The car was $6500. Very good condition it seemed. At the time of the purchase he stated there were no issues with this car and it was good to go. Couple of days later, My brother (Who is a certified mechanic) looked at the car, and noticed right away a very bad weld job behind the engine on the catalytic converter, which was causing an exhaust leak, which also there was a very bad ticking noise and that’s what was causing it, and causing me to go through a lot more gas. (Filling up at least twice a week.) The following Monday February 24th, I called [redacted] at Discover Auto who sold me the car, and explained to him what was going on, he explained I can bring the car in and he will have his mechanic look at it, and that there is no leak. We made and appointment and I brought my car into him the next day. When I arrived, I showed him the very bad weld job and where the leak was coming from. [redacted] and his mechanic stated they didn’t see anything, and that the weld job was fine. I didn’t agree, and he insisted that we go to [redacted] in Racine to have it checked out. [redacted] stated if there’s a leak, he will pay to fix it! Next day, I take it to [redacted] and they stated that “The weld job was very bad, but didn’t hear a leak. By now I’m very upset and very confused. On March 5th, my engine light came on, I took it to [redacted], gave me a trouble code: p0301- Check spark plugs, Cylinder 1 misfire detected. So I call [redacted] from Discover Auto, and let him know the issue, He stated he was very busy and very backed up with only one mechanic, I said okay no big deal, I’ll get it fixed if I need you I’ll call you. I had all 4 of my spark plugs replaced myself, they were in very bad shape. Check engine light went off, I thought problem solved, Next day engine light back on! I needed a 2nd opinion on the exhaust leak, something just didn’t seem right! I took to it [redacted] in Racine on March 19th and got very bad news. There was an exhaust leak, and somebody messed with the catalytic converter, and did a horrible job and trying to fix it and wasn’t successful on the fix. The cost of the fix would be $1,282.11. Of course, I give Discover Auto a call right away, and talk to [redacted] and told him what was going on and he stated ”Now you’re going back to the exhaust leak, That’s very expensive to fix and I will not pay for that, I told you to come in and I will check out the misfire!” And hung up on me. Later that day, I talked to him again, and he asked me to fax over the paper from [redacted], and to bring the car in on Saturday March 22nd and he will figure out the misfire on it, and that he will take it somewhere to also have it looked at. On March 20th I had taken it to [redacted]. They had said my car is missing a converter, and an oxygen sensor port, and that yes there is an exhaust leak. Leaving there I took it to [redacted] to see if it would pass emissions, It failed. I faxed the dealership the failed emission report, and the report from [redacted]. I gave him a call and asked if he received my fax, He said he did and stated “I threw them in the garbage, all of that means nothing!” and hung up on me! I have tried to be nice, Just told him the issues got all these places to give me quotes, and he has done nothing about it but hang up on me and be very rude! I am very upset and I have no money to put that much money into this car already! I am scared for other people. I hope they read all of the bad reviews he has before anybody buys from him!Desired Settlement: I would like all of my money back which would be $6,500.00, OR for them to fix the problems with the car.

Response:

As the compliance consultant for Discover Auto Sales, I have reviewed Ms. [redacted]'s complaint with the dealership and will respond on their behalf. Discover Auto Sales reports that even though Ms. [redacted] is not the person who purchased the vehicle from them, they did work with her regarding the alleged concerns with the vehicle's catalytic converter. Based on the dealership's inspection of the vehicle prior to delivery and an inspection by their own third party after the complaint, Discover Auto Sales did not agree with the information the customer told them. The dealership also found that some of the information provided by her third party inspections appeared to be either false or unreliable. Nevertheless, the dealership agreed to assist the customer as a customer satisfaction gesture by purchasing a new catalytic converter and installing it on the vehicle. The customer did not incur any costs related to this repair.

Unfortunately, it appears that the customer has since posted negative reviews on the internet to damage the dealership's reputation. Discover Auto Sales has a written agreement with the customer that all negative postings would be removed, but the customer has failed to completely do so. If the negative reviews are not removed immediately, the dealership will be contemplating legal action. The dealership resolved the customer's concerns in a very reasonable manner, and they believe the customer has failed to honor their agreement.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you

Review: To start, I tried contacting Discover several weeks ago via email and never got a response.

I bought a 2001 Hyundai Elantra there in Dec. 2012. It failed the emissions test a couple weeks later. There were several error codes This came as a surprise, since the Check Engine Light never came on. Talked with [redacted] who said they will look into it. He said the CEL light bulb was burned out. They fixed the light and started fixing the error codes. One code was caused by a leaking exhaust flex pipe. [redacted] had problem fixed (I have the receipts) and the car passed emission no problem. I even split the cost of repairs! Thinking the issue was settled, I was happy with the response from [redacted] and even wrote a positive review with the Revdex.com. I even recommended this business to friends! Big mistake on my part.

Fast forward to now.... A couple weeks ago I noticed an exhaust leak and took to my regular mechanic. He informed me that the when the flex pipe was replaced, the catalytic converter was cut out and a straight pipe was welded in it's place. The cost of installing a new catalytic converter and other pipes would be around $850!! He also informed me that such tampering is illegal and that I should notify the Wisconsin DOT for a potential tampering violation. I tried to avoid this by allowing Discover to work out a solution with me, but I never got an answer. Now I'm looking at an $850 repair bill that I don't feel I should have to pay, considering that "someone" who repaired the flex pipe ( or the vehicle was sold to me without a catalytic converter, also illegal) tampered with the exhaust system.Desired Settlement: Have the correct repair done to the exhaust system so it meets emission standards, using correct components as verified by my mechanic.

On Fri, Oct 3, 2014 at 6:45 AM, [redacted] wrote:Hello,Just writing to inform you my issue with Discover Auto Sales has been resolved to my satisfaction. It was worked out that I would pay (at cost) for the catalytic converter and Discover would provide the necessary labor. I was impressed at the way this issue was handled by [redacted] at Discover.Thank You,[redacted]

I bought a vehicle from Discover Auto less than a year ago and have had nothing but problems. I cant even register it. When I called the owner ( or so he said he was) he gave me the run around. It was when I threatened them with a lawsuit they said they would fix the problem. Brought my truck in and when I picked it up guess what was fixed..... nothing! Also I bought my vehicle with all cash upfront so maybe that might be why they felt didnt need to fix my Cadillac.
