this insurance company has cheated me out of three months of premiums. I was paying for a car I didn't own or possess. they told me I would have a credit of over one hundred and sixty eight dollars but they were still drafting money from my acct. my policy number is XXXXXXX. it should have only included my 2006 Altima. I made several calls regarding this matter and was told different reasons each call. I do not trust this company.Desired Settlementi would like an honest explanation as well as my money back.Business Response On September 11, 2015, the Named Insured renewed her automobile insurance policy with Discovery Insurance for the third six month term. The renewal effective date was September 5, 2015. At renewal we provided full coverage on a 1998 Honda Civic LX ([redacted]HXXXXXX) with an Other Than Collision deductible of $100.00, a Collision deductible of $500.00, towing and labor limit of $100.00 and extended transportation coverage of $30 per day/$900.00 total. The Named Insured was the only driver listed on the policy. The six month term premium totaled $488.50. On September 29, 2015, at the request of the Named Insured's agency, [redacted] Insurance Agency, we added a 2006 Nissan Altima ([redacted]NXXXXXX) with coverage identical to that on the 1998 Honda Civic. Adding this vehicle resulted in an additional premium of $236.79 and a new term premium of $761.24. On October 1, 2015, again at the request of the agency, we deleted the 1998 Honda Civic resulting in a credit of $168.63 and a new term premium of $564.50. This also left an outstanding balance due of $125.80. The Named Insured was set up on recurring payments which means that by an executed Agreement we are authorized to deduct the amount due on the payment due date. As such, on January 5, 2016, we drafted $34.18 and on February 5, 2015, we drafted $91.62 which satisfied the balance. On February 5, 2016, the Named Insured contacted our office and questioned why we drafted her account as she was advised by her agent that she would be entitled to a credit. Our customer service representative explained that the credit for deleting the Honda Civic was applied to her remaining installments. The Named Insured was not satisfied with that response and the customer service representative transferred the customer back to her agent. To date, we have not received a call from the agent regarding this policy. However, in reviewing this policy in order to address this complaint, the Named Insured was involved in an accident on December 17, 2015, when the vehicle she was operating, the 2006 Nissan Altima, was struck in the rear, and the adverse vehicle left the scene of the accident. The Named Insured reported the claim to our office on December 21, 2015 and it was immediately assigned to a staff adjuster. That adjuster made contact with the Named Insured that same day in addition to assigning an appraiser to inspect the vehicle. On December 26, 2015, it was determined the vehicle would be deemed a total loss. The value of the vehicle was $2475.00 minus the $500.00 deductible resulting in a net settlement of $1975.00. That same day the adjuster contacted the Named Insured and discussed settlement of the claim. The adjuster also requested the loss payee information. At that time, the Named Insured stated that she was considering cancelling the collision claim and repair the vehicle herself. On December 29, 2015, the adjuster received an email from the Named Insured, which we have a copy of and will gladly provide same if needed, stating that she had decided to close the claim and pay for the repairs herself. At this time, we continue to provide full coverage on the 2006 Nissan Altima with Other Than Collision deductible of $100.00 and $500.00 Collision deductible. If the Named Insured wishes to cancel the policy or change the current coverages, we recommend that she contact her agent. We have correctly billed this Named Insured based on additions and deletions made by her agent. At no time, have we incorrectly deducted premiums that were not due. If coverages were not correctly deleted, again, she should immediately contact her agent. Consumer Response They still did not explain why they were making deductions from my acct while I had a credit.I do plan to cancel with them and I would never recommend any one to purchase their insurance

My vehicle was vandalized first they said I had to fix it (they said issue wasn't covered). then they said it was totaled and offered me $300.00 My vehicle was vandalized (spray paint on the outside, fire damage on the inside and back window cracked) first they advised me that they were going to only going to replace my carpeting and the wire harness because "the damage was due to the wire's in the radio" the location where I paid to get my car towed to inspected my vehicle and told me that wasn't the cause of the fire damage on the inside,I asked on numerous occasions to have another adjuster come out and look over my vehicle due to the first one NOT documenting all of the damage done to my vehicle. After 3/4 days the agreed to send the adjuster back out (same gentlemen) he came out while I was present this time and noted all of the damage,he advised me at that time (in front of the shop employees) that due to the damage that my vehicle was totaled. 24 hours later I spoke back with the lady consulting my claim and she continued to advise me of the samething previously stayed (only covering wire harness& carpeting) I advised her of what the adjuster stated to me and she just stated she didn't agree with his second look,I asked to speak with her supervisor (after being in hold for an extensive amount of time) she came on and stated the same (out of frustration I disconnected the line) 30 minutes later I received a call back from the supervisor stating that she was going to total my vehicle BUT they were going to go back to when I last made a claim when a deer hit my vehicle on the interstate and use the book value from their. They contacted me today and stated that they were going to tatal the car out and cut me a check for 300.00 AND they were going to discontinue my full coverage and switch me to liability (I've only filed 2 claims 1.Being hit by a deer on interstate 40 and 2. The vandalism of my vehicle now) each time I speak with the claims Representative she's extremely rude and not customer friendly.Desired SettlementTo provide me with the services that I pay for monthly.Business Response Mr. [redacted] contacted our office on June 24, 2015 and stated that the insured vehicle had been spray painted, it appeared someone had tried to burn the carpet and the vehicle would not start. Mr. [redacted] reported the claim and we immediately assigned a staff adjuster. The adjuster contacted Mr. [redacted] that same day. Mr. [redacted] reported that the vehicle was parked at a friend's house and was drivable before this incident. He did admit that that the vehicle had been running hot but otherwise was in good condition. This was the second claim submitted by Mr. [redacted]. The first claim was for date of loss of Nov. 20, 2014. In that claim, Mr. [redacted] hit a deer. The vehicle was repaired but Mr. [redacted] continued to allege damage to the engine stating that the vehicle was running hot. We sent the appraiser back to inspect the vehicle again and it was determined that the engine problem was not related to the claim but rather a maintenance issue. In fact, Mr. [redacted] stated to the appraiser that the vehicle had overheated while he was sitting at a stop light in New Bern, NC and the warning light instructed him to pull over immediately. Mr. [redacted] stated that he ignored the warning light and drove the vehicle until the engine cut off. He stated that once the engine cooled, he put water in and drove to [redacted], NC. The adjuster did send out the same appraiser on the second claim. The appraiser determined that the wiring harness shorted out resulting in the fire damage to the floor board of the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] admitted to the appraiser that the vehicle stopped one block from his friend's home, so he left the vehicle beside the road. The [redacted] PD placed a stick on the vehicle indicating the vehicle needed to be moved or it would be towed. That proves that the vehicle had stopped running even though Mr. [redacted] continues to blame the engine problem on the vandalism claim. Mr. [redacted] is of the opinion the fire damage was the result of someone trying to hot wire the vehicle. There was no evidence that anyone tried to forcefully enter the vehicle. The appraiser noted that the stereo had been removed and some of those wires were also burned. Mr. [redacted] stated that he had sold the stereo in order to pay his insurance. The cost to repair the fire damage totaled $479.37 which was less than the $500.00 policy deductible. Since the vehicle had to be completely painted, the vehicle was deemed to be a total loss. The base vehicle value was $4200.00 minus $35.00 for condition adjustment and $4057.79 in prior unrelated damage resulting in a value of $107.21 prior to applying the $500.00 deductible. Even though there was a negative balance, we extended an offer of $300.00 to resolve this claim. We did issue notice to cancel Mr. [redacted]'s physical damage coverage due to frequency of claims activity. The original inception date of Mr. [redacted]'s policy was November 4, 2014. Since that time, Mr. [redacted] has submitted two claims. It is our standard operating procedure to cancel physical damage coverage when an insured has two accidents within a six month period. We have reviewed the phones calls between Mr. [redacted] and our claims adjuster. It is our opinion, that our claims adjuster exhibited professionalism in each conversation she had with Mr. [redacted].
