Waste of time
It has happened on more than one occasion where I would spend time writing a thoughtful comment and engaging in the discussion only to have my post deleted.

I really do enjoy engaging in thoughtful discussions, and bringing to the table facts and evidence to support the view that I am representing in a particular discussion. Unfortunately, it seems, that some Disqus participants would rather mark my posts as spam – or worse – it is possible that the moderators themselves are doing this.

Whatever the reason, it is not in the spirit of an open discussion and not professional... When forum discussions become one-sided, by eliminating courteous, but opposing comments, they are not discussions at all but just "echo chambers" and propaganda.

I wholly agree.

You're not alone. I was just banned by the Moderator of ScienceBasedMedicine.com for pointing out and providing evidence of his bias as a moderator. Against the spirit of an open forum, he blatantly advocates a one-sided position rather than actually moderating the forum. Those who ally with his position are given free rein for ad hominem and abusive behavior towards those who disagree.

Below is an example of the hubris and personal bias he's demonstrated in my encounter with him.

I took it upon myself to call him out because there is no recourse via Disqus to file a complaint against such bad behavior.

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Disqus needs to be permanently shut down (and have its domain seized by the FBI and the INTERPOL) for investigation as they need to seek professional helpMany will leave Disqus for alternatives until the judge shuts them down (and have the Disqus staff serve months in prison for failing to remove defamatory or slanderous content as the platform has around mean-spirited moderators)Around 50-people have nearly committed suicide until the law firms or the attorneys of the persons have them seek legal action against Disqus
I hope they get terminated by*** ***

We're sorry that you've had unpleasant experiences on the Disqus network.
As Disqus is not a court of law, we are unable to definitively determine if a particular comment is defamingFor comment removals, we require a subpoena from a court of law that has determined the comment to
be defamatory or libel
Disqus is installed directly on 3rd party sites, and Moderation and community tone is up to the sites who have installed DisqusIf a moderator is being mean on their site but is not in direct violation of the Disqus Basic Rules, Disqus will not take action against that ModeratorIf someone finds that the tone of a community or moderator is not to their liking, we recommend that they find other sites to frequent and comment on that are more in line with their expectations, and deprive that site of their business
When brought to our attention, Disqus takes action against Moderators and Users making direct threats of harm or violating our Basic RulesHowever, if a user is threatened to be banned from a community this is considered a warning, and past cases from this user did not contain violent or rule-breaking threats

Hi there,
We’re sorry that you’ve had a frustrating experience using Disqus. However, it is worth clarifying that Disqus does not have any moderators on staff, and does not moderate comments posted to sites using the Disqus comment system. Instead, we empower each individual site to employ...

moderators of their choice so that moderation is in line with their site’s community standards, which may differ from site to site. As a result, commenting and moderation experiences may vary greatly between different sites using Disqus.
Disqus only takes action on known Spam accounts, to ensure that network Spam does not take up valuable Moderation time for individual sites. We’ve gone ahead and double checked the account registered with the Complainants Email address to ensure that it was not banned in error. We can confirm that the account can successfully post to the network and is not globally banned at this time.

As each site manages its own moderation and Ban list, the user will want to reach out to the individual sites which they cannot post to, and contact the site owners or moderators if they are seeking more feedback as to why they were banned. Please note that sites are not required to provide a contact method or to respond to site inquiries, and sites retain the full authority to delete commenters or Ban users for any reason they so choose.
If a user suspects that they have been blacklisted globally across the Disqus network, they may navigate to our Community Help center Discuss Disqus, and create a discussion to speak with Disqus community managers here: [redacted]
If they are only banned at the site level, they will be able to post successfully to the Discuss Disqus forum. However, if they are in fact banned globally, they will be prevented from posting to this forum, and may create a new account with a different email address to contact Disqus community support and inquire about their main account. To reiterate, we’ve already checked the account registered with the email address provided, and can confirm that the account is not Banned at the Disqus network level, and is likely banned by the individual sites they have posted to.
