Review: I purchased the professional blogging course on 8/*/13 from NYICD. I got on the monthly payment schedule paying $49.00 a month. I would get my next course until at least 2 payments were made first. So, I started to send in 2 payments in early to get my next shipment. It would take so long to get the next order, three weeks some times. I finally got my 2nd course material. When I finish it, I sent in 2 more payment to get the 3rd part of the course sent to me ( payment dates: 11/**/13 &12/**/13) One for $49.00 and one $50.00.

I waited for about 2 weeks for my 3rd course material to arrive, no luck! I called to speak student rep.( name: [redacted]) he told me that the school was in a moving to a new location period and it would be an extra week or two for me to got my 3rd course. Those two weeks turn into 4 weeks. After having to wait that long for my paid for course, I decided to get my training somewhere else. So, I called NYICD on the 1/**/14 and spoke to the same student rep. ([redacted]), I was beginning to think this company is a one man operation. While I told [redacted] to cancel my account and he told me that someone would call me back to conform the cancellation. While, after 3 weeks, no one has called me and this is way I'm filing this Revdex.com complaint to get my money back! Two payment in total of $99.00. I don't want the course material after having to wait over 2 months.Desired Settlement: Follow your own Policy when dealing with paying customers. Also, ship out course materials in a much quicker time fame to please paying customers.

Response:

On behalf of the company, I want to apologize for the way this situation was handled. This is in no way how we conduct business, and students deserve better treatment. We will immediately contact [redacted] directly and issue the refund as requested. Internally, we will track down the reasons for the delay in shipping and make sure that this does not impact any future students.

Review: I received an email offer from NYIP that offered $550 off the tuition if you paid in full in advance. From their web site, it looks like this price is $949. (They ad also offers $200 off their monthly tuition plan which is around $1,200 -I think.)

You can view the ad here: [redacted]

I can also forward you the email that I got from then, if you like.

When I contacted them, I spoke to several people who admitted that it was confusing but no one could explain how the price with the discount was arrived at. I finally spoke to someone in Student Services (I provided her email address in the complaint) but she was unable to also explain how the pricing was arrived at. I'd like clarification as I think the ad is misleading. (They also advertise that they are Revdex.com approved and I asked the person in Student Services how I could verify this, but she never responded.)Desired Settlement: I'd like them to honor the discounted price listed in the ad. If I read the ad correctly and understand it, this should be $550 off $949.

Response:

The "ad" in question is an email that directs potential students to the following page on our website, which clearly states the price of the pay in full option as $749, which we are happy to honor in this case. That price is $550 off the total price of the course. Our aim is not to make this confusing or misleading in any way and we will take steps necessary to update the language to state the price and discount more clearly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Review: I heard about NYIAD when it was the [redacted]. I was reluctant to be a student of [redacted] because I did not believe that my needs as a student would be met professionally and/or fully. When the school changed names and supposedly became accredited and state licensed with New York State Education Department, I thought that the business was legitimate. I thought this would be a great way to transition from my current profession to another profession. I was horribly wrong.

I have contacted NYIAD on several occasions since March 2014 to receive my first unit. After not receiving the unit, I called to speak with the legal department. My call was NOT forwarded to their legal department but I was assured that I would receive a full refund. I have yet to receive that refund.

Instead of being named the New York Institute of Art and Design the company name should be the New York Institute of Scam and Design. If the business was legitimate, then I should have received communication from my [redacted], questioning my lack of coursework.Desired Settlement: Full refund for money paid

Response:

The complainant enrolled in our course in March of this year, and at that time her first shipment was sent to the address we have on record. We have reviewed our shipment logs to confirm this was the case. The complainant says she never received her package. But upon looking through her case history, we could not find any email or phone call received from her until several months later. At that time, she was upset because she had not yet received her materials, and she cancelled. Her future shipments were terminated, but the refund was mistakenly never processed. Since receiving this complaint we have reached out to the complainant and refunded her initial payment.
