In response to a complaint from Mrand Mrs [redacted] The [redacted] s called us one afternoon and wanted to drive down that evening to see the one puppy we had left from the litterWe shared with them that the little girl available was the runt of the litter and about a third of the size of the rest of the litter and had a conversation about her eye pigment being more blueThey were very excited and in a hurry to get a puppy and accepted her with full knowledge of her being the runt, smaller, and her blue eye and decided to purchase herThey stated that they just wanted "a family dog for their kids" and NEVER AT ANY POINT mentioned breeding herThere seemed to be a perfect match and she was going to be a wonderful family memberThe [redacted] s have stated that ALL puppies should be breeding quality, but that simply is not trueA breeding quality dog is NEVER the runt, but is always one of the biggest puppies from a litter with perfect conformation, no imperfections, and all the qualities and personality that you would want to pass to the future generationsWe would have told them that this puppy was appropriate for breeding and they should wait for future litters if they were wanting to breedShe was not breeding quality, she was pet quality with an amazing personalityThree months later we received a call from Mrs [redacted] and some following text messagesShe told us that the puppy "Grace" still had a blue eye and they had decided to breed her in the futureThis is the first time she had spoken to us regarding breeding herWe explained that she was not breeding quality and suggested that she wait months to a year to see if her eye turned brownWe also offered to her that we would be willing to place Grace with another family that would love to have her and were waiting for a black Labrador female as a family pet and then the [redacted] s could get a breeding quality puppy from one of our future littersShe said that her kids loved Grace and she would not give her upInstead she wanted another puppy IN ADDITION to Grace, free of chargeIn the months that followed we received two reports; one from their veterinarian and one from an opthomologistBoth reports stated that she has "heterochromia", which means different colored eyesBut the reports state that her eyes were completely normalThere are several reasons her eye could be blue; one of which is a genetic defect and another is that her eye did not fully developWe contend that her eye was not fully developed because she was underdeveloped physically, being a very small runt and much less mature that the rest of her litterThe [redacted] s suggested that the blue eye was a result of a genetic defect, but are unable to prove their claimWe have not had any other puppies with a blue eye in our litters EVER, and our genetic lines are very reputable, established and do not include this genetic abnormalityThis abnormality is a recessive trait and would have to show up somewhere in their lineage, but does notIn addition, Grace's eyes are with the exception of one being blueMost recently, Mr [redacted] called and demanded that we give him another puppyWe explained our reasoning to him and that we had conferred with the [redacted] and our Veterinarian on how to handle this situationBoth recommendations were that the [redacted] s purchased Grace with full disclosure and knowledge that she was the runt and that she had a blue eyeThey did not disclose that they were looking for a breeding quality puppy and not all puppies fit the criteria for breeding qualityThey were very clear that they wanted a "family dog for their kids"Why the [redacted] s didn't feel like they could share with us that they wanted to use her for breeding at the time they adopted her is unclear Mr [redacted] became very rude and mean during that conversationFor the better of our reputation we made him one last offerAgainst our better judgment, we offered to go ahead and replace his puppy this yearHe wanted a puppy right away, but didn't seem to understand that we are not a business just because we have a free blurb about our dogs and Facebook We are a hobby farm and have a litter or two a year and sometimes no puppies at all some yearsHe refused our offer and instead said he wanted his money back and was going to file complaints with the Revdex.com, the Attorney General and threatened to use social media to ruin our reputationLuckily, we did save all correspondence with this family, including the two refused offers made to them and their threatsAs a result of this situation we give only limited [redacted] registration so that breeding rights can be obtained only with specific arrangements made by us

Revdex.com,
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaintFor your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Dear Christian King,
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs sold my husband and I an
*** Labrador Retriever on 10/11/for $with papers and pictures
validating her genealogy and her parents certificationsMy husband and I were
not given, nor did we sign a disclosure that our dog was a runt, about a third
of the size of the rest of the litter, and that her eye was blue because it was
simply not fully developed per Mrs*** *** / *** LabsFor the record;
as we were getting ready to leave, after we had purchased our *** Labrador
Retriever, I asked why she had a blue eye because Mrs*** *** / ***
Labs did not mention this before we got to her homeMr*** ***, Mrs
*** ***’s husband said that our *** Labrador Retriever had been checked
out by the vet and she was fineMrs*** *** / *** Labs said that our
*** Labrador Retriever wasn’t Albino and thought it would darken up within the
next couple of weeks as per my letter on 11/07/This would have been an
ideal time for a written / signed disclosurePlease note; Labrador Retrievers
eyes should both be brown by ten weeks per Dr*** ***, D.V.MThe day we
purchased our *** Labrador Retriever she was eight weeks and three days old and
had one dark brown eye and one very light blue eye
In regards to Mrs*** *** / *** Labs comment
regarding my husband and I not being consistent and important details being fabricated,
we have showed proof that Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated on her
fabricated paper from the American Kennel Club Registration Services there were
seven males and four girls, when there were in fact eight males and three
femalesMrs*** *** stated in her first letter to the Revdex.com that my
husband and I waited three months to contact her regarding our *** Labrador
Retriever and her diagnosis of Heterochromia Irides and the fact that
Heterochromia Irides inhibited her ability to ever have a puppy litter because
she could pass this down to her puppies per our vet, Dr*** *** D.V.MI
contacted Mrs*** *** / *** Labs on 10/27/2014, two weeks and two
days after we purchased our *** Labrador RetrieverMy husband and I sent Mrs
*** *** / *** Labs and Mr*** *** a letter and the reports from
both Dr*** *** D.V.M and Dr*** L*** D.V.M PhD on 11/07/2014, three
weeks and six days after we purchased our *** Labrador RetrieverMrs***
*** / *** Labs has also stated in her first letter to the Revdex.com that Mrs
*** *** / *** Labs is a hobby farm and have a litter or two a year and
sometimes no puppies at all some yearsBefore Mrs*** *** changed her
Facebook Page and edited her posts from *** Labs; pet services to *** and
*** ***; pet, she had four litters of puppies and had one on the way at
the end of July or the beginning of August since 08/11/Also since Mrs
*** *** /*** Labs received our last letter via Revdex.com, she has since simplified
her website to only display her and her husband’s phone numbers and had deleted
all her pages on her websiteAlso worth mentioning is the fact that the Revdex.com
has *** Labs as starting business on 01/01/This business is not
registered and does not submit sales tax with the Department of RevenueThis
business also does not have a business license to do business in the state of
WashingtonAs customer’s Mrs*** *** / *** Labs should have given us
a disclosure and let us know what we were spending $onBut in regards
to the State of Washington, if Mrs*** *** / *** Labs have in fact
been doing business in Washington since 01/01/1997, like the Revdex.com states on its
page then Mrs*** / *** Labs have had a lot of inconsistencies and
fabrications on her part over the span of years
In regards to Mrs*** *** / *** Labs two refused
offers that we rejected, we rejected them both because given the circumstances
Mrs*** *** should have simply given us a refund and/or given us an ***
Labrador Retriever that we had already paid for on 10/11/Mrs***
*** / *** Labs first offer was on 11/05/where she said “we can sell
her to someone else that will love her and doesn’t care that her eye is blue,
we can post it on our site and after we sell her, for you, we can give you
another puppy out of another litter”My husband and I are not breeders and we
did not want any liability; selling a dog with Heterochromia Irides for $
The second offer was, “if we have another family who would want her, they can
also pay you for her and you can purchase a puppy from another breeder”Again,
my husband and I are not breeders and we will did not want this liability;
selling a dog with Heterochromia Irides for $Mrs*** *** /***
Labs could have easily given our money back when we contacted her on 10/27/2014;
two weeks and two days after our sale on 10/11/and she could have took her
*** Labrador Retriever back and rehomed herOr on 4/06/when she received the
documents stating our *** Labrador Retriever was confirmed as to having Heterochromia
Irides, she could have followed her own Health Guarantee, took her puppy back and
given us a Standard Labrador Retriever that we had already paid $for on
10/11/
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs also stated that we cannot
prove our *** Labrador Retriever has a genetic eye defectThis is trueBut
she also hasn’t showed proof that it isn’t a genetic eye defectMy husband
asked Mrs*** *** on 10/11/if our *** Labrador Retriever’s parents
were certified for dysplasia and Mrs*** *** / *** Labs said yes
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs failed to mention that our *** Labrador
Retrievers father was certified for his hips and elbows but her mother is only
certified for her hipsAlso neither parent has any certification on their eyes
This was not mentioned at allThis was our first *** Labrador Retriever, we
trusted Mrs*** *** / *** Labs, and it seemed like a good long
standing business with no bad reviews Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated that
our *** Labrador Retriever’s trait was neither shared nor carried by either parent;
prove it, Mrs*** *** / *** LabsPlease submit proof, it would be much
appreciatedMrs*** *** / *** Labs also stated on her last letter to
the Revdex.com that they hand raise their puppies and love themOur vet, Dr***
*** D.V.M stated that a good breeder will only breed dogs that have their
certifications; including eyes, hips, elbowsBreeding dogs that don’t have
these certifications isn’t lovingThe dogs live with the consequences of
breeders breeding for quantity and not qualityDr*** *** D.V.M said
that a good breeder will only breed for the good of the breed and good breeder
doesn’t breed dogs for money
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs did not give us a
disclosure regarding our *** Labrador RetrieverBefore my husband and I left
the *** home we only knew that our *** Labrador Retriever had a blue eye and
that in a couple weeks it would turn brown per Mrs*** *** / ***
LabsHad we known that our *** Labrador Retriever was the runt, about a third
of the size of the rest of the litter, and that her eye was blue because it was
simply not fully developed per Mrs*** *** / *** Labs we would never
have purchased her for $Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated “we
would never inappropriately place a puppy with a family who is looking for
something else”My husband and I did not withhold any information from Mrs
*** *** / *** LabsWe were honest in saying “this is our first ***
Labrador Retriever”Our *** Labrador Retriever came with papers, proof of genealogy,
pictures, and a $price tagMrs*** *** / *** Labs should have
disclosed to us the facts and let us know everythingWe respectfully are
requesting a complete refund
Thank you,
*** ***

In reference
to complaint #*** Additional Concerns
Words can’t express how sad it makes us that the ***
family is willing to discard their dog Grace given that she is not perfect “she
is more than welcome to have her dog back”If we would have known this family
would conduct themselves in this manner, we would have never done business with
them or adopted any animal out to them
This situation is getting out of hand and the ***
family is now willing to say anything in order to get a full refund of their
moneyThey were aware of all of Grace’s shortcomings that we
disclosed to them before they took her and drove home to KennewickWe had a
discussion about her being the last puppy, a runt, and her eye being lighter in
color than the otherIn her report to the Attorney General Mrs*** states “As we
were getting ready to leave… I asked why our dog had a blue eye”But in her
Additional Concerns letter to the Revdex.com she states that she never knewThe
story they are telling is not consistent and important details are being
fabricated by themThey made the decision to take her and told us she was “a
family pet for their kids”We would never inappropriately place a puppy with a
family who is looking for something elseWe hand raise our puppies and love
them
Neither can the ***s prove that this blue eye was a
genetic defect and not a result of this puppy being underdeveloped and the runt
of the litterThis trait was neither shared nor carried by either parentsEither
way, we attempted to rectify this situation on separate occasions and it was rejected by the ***s
I have included the text messages from both Mrand Mrs
*** documenting our conversations and our attempts to come to a resolution
in this matterBoth offers were rejected by the ***sAfter the last offer,
Mr*** threatened us and rejected a fair offerI believe we have made
every attempt to be fair with them and try to rectify this situationIn
addition I have included an example of the “inaccuracies” in the story the
***s are telling
Thank you for your time,
*** ***

Revdex.com,
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaintFor your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
July 27,
*** ***,
Thank you for taking the time to go over this complaint
Until Thursday, July 23, my husband and I did not know that our ***
Labrador Retriever was the runt of the litter and about a third of the size of
the rest of her litter, and that her eye would be blue because it was simply is
not fully developed, (please see our letter dated 11/07/from our initial complaint,
there is no mention of our *** Labrador Retriever being a runt, a third of the
size of the rest of her litter and acknowledgment that her eye would be blue)Our
*** Labrador Retriever has been confirmed to have Heterochromia Irides (3/10/2015)
and still does not have two of the same colored eyes; she will be twelve months
on August 13, On October 11, Mrs*** *** / *** Labs did
not mention that our potential *** Labrador Retriever was a runt, a third of
the size of the rest of her litter and had a blue eyeAfter we purchased our
*** Labrador Retriever for $800.00, I asked Mrs*** *** / *** Labs about
the blue eye and she reassured me that it would turn within the next couple of
weeksMy husband and I believed Mrs*** *** / *** LabsMrs
*** *** / *** Labs website looked genuine, honest, and she didn’t have
any bad reviews, after all this was our first *** Labrador Retriever and this
company had been in business since per the Revdex.com
In regards to Mrs*** ***’s comment regarding
waiting three months to contact her, we notified Mrs*** *** / ***
Labs on 10/27/about our *** Labrador Retriever and possibly having a genetic
eye defect; Heterochromia Irides after our appointment with Dr*** ***
D.V.MOur *** Labrador Retriever then saw *** *** D.V.M, PhD, where
she was diagnosed with Heterochromia Irides.
My husband and I then sent Mrs*** *** / *** Labs a letter on
11/7/in the hopes that Mrs*** *** / *** Labs would honor their
Health GuaranteeIt came back after three attempts and we sent it again, not
certified this time
In regards to Mrs*** *** / *** Labs statement
about placing our *** Labrador Retriever with another family, Mrs***
*** / *** Labs stated she would assist us selling our *** Labrador
Retriever to another familyMy husband and I are not dog breeders and did not
want to carry this liabilityWe knew our *** Labrador Retriever was not a
Standard Labrador Retriever and it bothered our consciences to sell her to a
family for $Mrs*** *** / *** Labs also stated in October of
that if our *** Labrador Retriever’s eye did not turn brown, my husband
and I would get to keep our *** Labrador Retriever and Mrs*** *** /
*** Labs would give us a Standard *** Labrador Retriever out of the next
batch of puppiesI asked Mrs*** *** / *** Labs why we would get to
keep her and she said there was no reason to pull our *** Labrador Retriever
from her homeSo we agreed to wait till our *** Labrador Retriever was six
months old to determine whether or not she had Heterochromia Irides In regards to Mrs*** *** / *** Labs
statement about being a hobby farm and having a litter or two a year and
sometimes no puppies at allMrs*** *** / *** Labs has had four Labrador
Retriever litters since August 13, and is waiting on their fifth at the
end this month or beginning of next month per her Facebook Page: *** Labs
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated that we received full
disclosure regarding our ***
Labrador Retriever, being that she was a runt and that she had a blue eyeIn
regards to Mrs*** *** / *** Labs statement, we never signed a disclosure
Until July 23,
we did not know our dog was a runt and that Mrs***
*** / *** Labs felt the reason our ***
Labrador Retriever had a blue eye was because her eye was not fully developed
This information was not disclosed to usHad we known this, we certainly would
not travel miles
one way and pay $for an ***
Labrador Retriever when people sell ***
Labrador Retriever’s in Tri-Cities, WA for $- with Master
bloodlinesWe purchased our ***
Labrador Retriever from Mrs*** *** / *** Labs because she had been
in business since via Revdex.comAlso her website; ***Labs.com seemed
reputableMrs*** ***’s Business *** Labs was also on this website; ***
There were no bad reviews, no disgruntled customer’sWe felt we had chosen a
good Dog Breeding business
In regards to our *** Labrador Retriever’s Health Guarantee Mrs
*** *** / *** Labs said that she would like to wait till our ***
Labrador Retriever was six months old to confirm she had Heterochromia Irides
We sent her confirmation of this on 4/06/and did not receive a response
from her via phone call, text message and/or letter My husband contacted Mrs*** *** /
*** Labs on July 1, Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated that our
dog was healthy besides having Heterochromia IridesOur *** Labrador Retriever
may have papers but she cannot breed, she is pet-quality onlyOur vet, Dr
*** *** D.V.M confirmed this, Mrs*** *** / *** Labs did not
mention this to us nor did we ever sign a disclosure acknowledging this
Mrs*** *** / *** Labs stated that against her
better judgment she offered to go ahead and replace our puppy this yearMrs
*** *** / *** Labs said she would put us on paper for getting a black
Labrador retriever that was breeding quality by the end of SeptemberIf she
didn’t have a black Labrador retriever puppy available by the end of September,
then Mrs*** *** / *** Labs would find a replacement puppy or have us
on the list for the next available litter after all reservations are fulfilled
We sent Mrs*** *** / *** Labs confirmation of Heterochromia Irides
on April 6, 2015, our *** Labrador Retriever was almost eight months oldOn
September 13, our *** Labrador Retriever will be fourteen months oldMrs
*** *** / *** Labs only have to honor our Health Guarantee for
months
At this time we do not feel that Mrs*** *** has
been honest with usLooking back at what she has said and what she did not
disclose to us on October 11, 2015, we feel it is better to get a complete
refund and she is more than welcome to have her dog backThis company is not
what it initially claimed to be; reputable and honestSince we filed
complaints with the Revdex.com and the Washington State Attorney General, Mrs
*** *** / *** Labs has changed its website material
Regards,

After a dove hunt in Sept. 2018, where our 2 yr old Lab Giuse's back legs collapsed we took to our vet and had blood work done He was diagnosed with " Exercise Induced Collapse" I have tried to contact Dixon Labs regarding our dog out of Bucky and Izzie in 7/2016 to warn them not to breed Bucky and Izzie. I know they have had several litters since our dog's litter. This is a genetic gene that is carried by both Bucky and Izzie (per blood test) and when a pup receives both genes it can causes the collapse of muscles and may lead to death, caused by the drop in blood pressure and shock. As long as Guise does not over exercise he should lead a full life, but may not hunt. This is a fairly new discovery due to more genetic testing, but I want people to be aware of the signs and have your dog tested if needed. My complaint is that after several attempts to contact Dixon Labs, I have had no response from them. I know they have a love for labs, but a response would have been appreciated. I have been told by my vet that it is a 50% chance of pups getting both of the genes, sadly our dog is one of them, as he lives to hunt. If they only have 1 gene the pup probably will not be effected.

In response to a complaint from Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. The [redacted]s called us one afternoon and wanted to drive down that evening to see the one puppy we had left from the litter. We shared with them that the little girl available was the runt of the litter and about a third of the size of the rest of...

the litter and had a conversation about her eye pigment being more blue. They were very excited and in a hurry to get a puppy and accepted her with full knowledge of her being the runt, smaller, and her blue eye and decided to purchase her. They stated that they just wanted "a family dog for their kids" and NEVER AT ANY POINT mentioned breeding her. There seemed to be a perfect match and she was going to be a wonderful family member. The [redacted]s have stated that ALL puppies should be breeding quality, but that simply is not true. A breeding quality dog is NEVER the runt, but is always one of the biggest puppies from a litter with perfect conformation, no imperfections, and all the qualities and personality that you would want to pass to the future generations. We would have told them that this puppy was appropriate for breeding and they should wait for future litters if they were wanting to breed. She was not breeding quality, she was pet quality with an amazing personality. Three months later we received a call from Mrs. [redacted] and some following text messages. She told us that the puppy "Grace" still had a blue eye and they had decided to breed her in the future. This is the first time she had spoken to us regarding breeding her. We explained that she was not breeding quality and suggested that she wait 6 months to a year to see if her eye turned brown. We also offered to her that we would be willing to place Grace with another family that would love to have her and were waiting for a black Labrador female as a family pet and then the [redacted]s could get a breeding quality puppy from one of our future litters. She said that her kids loved Grace and she would not give her up. Instead she wanted another puppy IN ADDITION to Grace, free of charge. In the months that followed we received two reports; one from their veterinarian and one from an opthomologist. Both reports stated that she has "heterochromia", which means 2 different colored eyes. But the reports state that her eyes were completely normal. There are several reasons her eye could be blue; one of which is a genetic defect and another is that her eye did not fully develop. We contend that her eye was not fully developed because she was underdeveloped physically, being a very small runt and much less mature that the rest of her litter. The [redacted]s suggested that the blue eye was a result of a genetic defect, but are unable to prove their claim. We have not had any other puppies with a blue eye in our litters EVER, and our genetic lines are very reputable, established and do not include this genetic abnormality. This abnormality is a recessive trait and would have to show up somewhere in their lineage, but does not. In addition, Grace's eyes are normal with the exception of one being blue. Most recently, Mr. [redacted] called and demanded that we give him another puppy. We explained our reasoning to him and that we had conferred with the [redacted] and our Veterinarian on how to handle this situation. Both recommendations were that the [redacted]s purchased Grace with full disclosure and knowledge that she was the runt and that she had a blue eye. They did not disclose that they were looking for a breeding quality puppy and not all puppies fit the criteria for breeding quality. They were very clear that they wanted a "family dog for their kids". Why the [redacted]s didn't feel like they could share with us that they wanted to use her for breeding at the time they adopted her is unclear.  Mr. [redacted] became very rude and mean during that conversation. For the better of our reputation we made him one last offer. Against our better judgment, we offered to go ahead and replace his puppy this year. He wanted a puppy right away, but didn't seem to understand that we are not a business just because we have a free blurb about our dogs and Facebook.  We are a hobby farm and have a litter or two a year and sometimes no puppies at all some years. He refused our offer and instead said he wanted his money back and was going to file complaints with the Revdex.com, the Attorney General and threatened to use social media to ruin our reputation. Luckily, we did save all correspondence with this family, including the two refused offers made to them and their threats. As a result of this situation we give only limited [redacted] registration so that breeding rights can be obtained only with specific arrangements made by us.

On 5/10/15 I made a electronic deposit in the amount of $200 for a lab (Elena / Bucky litter) due 7/12/15. On 7/28 the owner informed me that Elena had miscarried. I contacted her VIA e-mail, text and phone to get my deposit refunded. After several failed attempts, she still has not contacted me. Facebook page and personal website have since been deleted.

Review: To whom it may concern,

On October 11, 2014 my family and I purchased our first [redacted] Black Labrador Retriever for $800.00 from [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] at [redacted]. Before we had come to their home to see our dog, we told Mrs. [redacted] that we were coming from the Tri-Cities, which is about two hours away and this was our first [redacted]. Mrs. [redacted] never mentioned that our dog was the last of eleven puppies, she was a pet quality dog only, and she had a blue eye; which is very rare for a lab at her age. Our dog was eight weeks and three days old when we purchased her. Our Vet, Dr. [redacted], D.V.M. said our dog’s eyes should both be brown by the time she was 10 weeks old. Our dog was 1 of 3 females and the last to be sold. [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] also initially wrote in her contract that there were 11 puppies: 7 males and 4 females. [redacted] Litter Records show that there were 11 puppies: 8 males and 3 females. Before we arrived at the [redacted] Home, we asked if our dog’s parents were certified for dysplasia and Mrs. [redacted] said yes. Mrs. [redacted] failed to mention that our dog’s father was certified for his hips and elbows but our dog’s mother is only certified for her hips. Also not mentioned was that neither parent has any certification on their eyes. These certifications are the Standard for the good health of a dog, and continuation of breed quality, per our vet, Dr. [redacted], D.V.M.

As we were getting ready to leave, after we purchased our dog, I asked why our dog had a blue eye because Mrs. [redacted] did not mention this to us. Mr. [redacted], Mrs. [redacted]’s husband, said our dog had been checked out by the vet and she was fine, the vet wasn’t concerned about her one blue eye, it would turn brown within the next couple of weeks. Mrs. [redacted] said don’t worry it will turn brown. It was also not mentioned in our contract, that our dog may have an [redacted] Certification but that she was only pet-quality, not breeding quality and we were not expected to breed her.

On October 27, 2014 our dog had an appointment with her Veterinarian, Dr. [redacted], D.V.M. We were informed that our dog’s blue eye was an inherited genetic defect. At 10 weeks she should have two brown eyes and not a blue eye and a brown eye. We were also informed that because of this genetic defect, our dog was not a Standard Labrador Retriever and should not be bred. You only breed for the better of the breed. Dr. [redacted] D.V.M. told us that as responsible breeders, [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] should have informed us of this before we purchased our dog, so that my husband and I could make an educated decision regarding the purchase of an $800.00 pet-quality dog and made us sign a contract stating we would not breed our pet-quality dog. After the appointment with Dr. [redacted] D.V.M., I spoke with Mrs. [redacted] and she said that we should wait until our dog was 6 months old to see if her eye turned brown. Mrs. [redacted] also said that if our dog’s eye didn’t turn brown, we would keep our dog and [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] would give us a Standard Labrador Retriever out of the next batch of puppies. Because a blue eye / brown eye combo is so rare in Purebred Labrador Retrievers and we were concerned about our dog’s eye condition we decided to take our dog in to see an Opthalogist. Dr. [redacted] D.V.M, referred us to Dr. [redacted] D.V.M PhD.

Our dog saw Dr. [redacted] D.V.M PhD on November 5, 2014. There our dog was diagnosed with Heterochromia Irides. This is a genetic defect that she inherited from one or both of her parents. Neither parent has any Eye Certification so the parent carrying the defect is unknown. Dr. [redacted] D.V.M PhD said she would like to see our dog when she was six months.

On November 6, 2014 Mrs. [redacted] and I texted back and forth, Mrs. [redacted] informed me that my husband and I should have been honest and let [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] know that eventually my husband and I would like to breed our [redacted] Labrador Retriever. My husband and I thought we were purchasing a Standard Labrador Retriever with an [redacted] registration, our contract didn’t say our dog was a pet-quality dog and exempt from breeding, [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] should have disclosed that before the sale was final. My husband and I purchased our first Standard [redacted] Labrador Retriever for $800.00 and she came with 4 Generations of [redacted] lineage, an [redacted] Reregistration, and copies of her parents [redacted] records and certifications. Our dog also came with a Health Guarantee that stipulates a replacement guarantee for a genetic eye defect. If she were to have children they would carry Heterochromia Irides, just like one or both of her parents do. Even if we didn’t want to breed our dog, we would still expect [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] to honor their word and Health Guarantee.

On November 8, 2014 my husband and I sent [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] the reports that we had received from Dr. [redacted] D.V.M and Dr. [redacted] D.V.M. PhD and a letter expressing our concern. These reports and our letter were sent back to us on November 28, 2014. We sent them again, waited a month then I called Mrs. [redacted], she said we needed to wait till our dog was six months old to make sure our dog had Heterochromia Irides.

In April of 2015 my husband and I sent [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] the report from Dr. [redacted] D.V.M. PhD; confirmed that our dog had Heterochromia Irides and the letter from Dr. [redacted], D.V.M.; confirmed that because our dog had Heterochromia Irides, this is an undesirable trait for breeding her. As a responsible breeder you are only supposed to breed for the good of the breed. Mrs. [redacted] had requested these papers before we could move forward, and she needed to talk to her Vet and some of her breeding friends and see what they had to say. Mrs. [redacted] did not get back with us.

On July 1, 2015 my husband called [redacted] Labs / [redacted] and asked her where we were. Mrs. [redacted] informed my husband that our dog was healthy besides having Heterochromia Irides. Mrs. [redacted] said she had spoken to people about our situation and they felt we were expecting too much from [redacted] Labs. At the end of the conversation when my husband mentioned reporting her to the Attorney General, Mrs. [redacted] said she would put us on paper for getting a black female Labrador Retriever that was breeding quality by the end of September. Our dog would be 14 months old on October 13, 2015. If she didn’t have a black female puppy available by the end of September, then [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] would find a replacement puppy or have us on the list for the next available litter after all reservations are fulfilled. [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] also stated that since our dog’s litter on August 13, 2014, she had not had a litter that was breeding quality just pet-quality. This situation should have been resolved in April of 2015. We have been patiently waiting; our dog is almost eleven months old. [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] only have to honor our contract till our dog is twenty four months old.

The Revdex.com shows that [redacted] Labs/ Mrs. [redacted] started her business in 01/01/1997. Labor and Industries cannot find her in the system. In the state of Washington if you advertise dogs for sale through a website; [redacted], [redacted]s or classified print advertising; [redacted] you are considered to be engaging in business and you must register with the Department of Revenue and collect and remit retail sales tax, in addition owe retailing business and occupation tax on their sales. Mrs. [redacted] stated on 7/2/2015 this is a hobby and not a business. Mrs. [redacted]’s website claims that her breeding program is designed to produce the whole package; healthy eyes, elbows and hips. [redacted] states that a Standard Labrador Retriever is to have two brown eyes. My dog has Heterochromia Irides; two different colored eyes. Our vet Dr. [redacted] D.V.M., stated a good breeder that breeds for the good of the breed will only breed dog’s that have their eyes, hips, and elbows certified. We did not know this before we purchased our dog.Desired Settlement: [redacted] Labs / Mrs. [redacted] states on her website her breeding program is designed to produce the "whole package"; healthy eyes, elbows, and hips. Bucky, Mrs. [redacted]'s Sire has his hips and elbows certified but not his eyes. Midnight, Mrs. [redacted]'s Dam has her hips certified but not her elbows and eyes. Mrs. [redacted] stated on 7/2/2015 that she has not had a breeding-quality dog since our dog's litter on 8/13/2014. Our contract does not state we were purchasing an [redacted] pet-quality labrador retriever that could not be bred, but this is what we purchased. Mrs. [redacted] stated that if our dog's eye did not turn brown then she would give us another dog of same color if possible out a a different female. We would politely request a full refund. Our dog may have [redacted] papers but she is not a Standard Labrador Retriever and it doesn't appear that Mrs. [redacted] can produce a "whole package" puppy with healthy eyes, hips, and elbows since her sire and dam's do not have those certifications to produce a "whole package" puppy.

Response:

In response to a complaint from Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. The [redacted]s called us one afternoon and wanted to drive down that evening to see the one puppy we had left from the litter. We shared with them that the little girl available was the runt of the litter and about a third of the size of the rest of the litter and had a conversation about her eye pigment being more blue.
