This company is very unreliable. They did not give us what was agreed upon. They destroyed my yard and delayed the job for so long that my house was under construction for over a year. They never return phone calls or showed up on scheduled days. Don't let this kindly little old man fool you he is a poor businessman and a does not keep his word, he had excuse after excuse why the job was delayed. Do not use DJC construction or the other company he does business as Francesco's construction.

Review: On March **, 2013 I hired [redacted] to do brick work to my house, walkway, and driveway. He was supposed to start work on May **, 2013 and complete job on May **, 2013. He had some workers finally show up on June **, 2013 and has been on and off coming here a few hours some days and never showing up or calling on other days. He has only spent 65 hours total of work from June **, 2031 till July **, 2013. He never calls and when you try calling the 3 contact phone numbers I have he never answers and voice mailbox is always full on all numbers.Desired Settlement: All materials are here. He just needs to spend a couple of days here to get finished.

Sincerely,

Just a little info for anyone who has a contract with [redacted] or is planning to use him. The only thing he has going for him is his lead man [redacted], without him he would be out of business. It took him 2 extra months to finish my work. You need to bother him and step up to him and he usually will show up next day. I threatened to show up at his house every morning till he finished, it worked for a couple of days. Do not give him any money if possible. I held out at end and that's when he came around more often and finished. He is a compulsive liar and never calls you. He lies so much he even makes up stories about his family which is very sad. The money you give him pays for materials for past jobs and pay for his men. Even though you negoitate a price he keeps telling you that the job is twice as much as you paying. My advice.....don't use DJC Construction.

Review: We have made exteriror brick work contract with DJC construction on 05/**/2009 as per town code and permits. They have finished the work around August 2010. As per contract they have given us 25 years guarantee for all the work done by them. Within 2 years of work finished, we have started getting rain water leakage from front wall near family room window. We have called number of times but they didn't give proper attention and due to constant rain water leakage it has damaged entire inside wall, inside furniture and inside wooden floor and ceiling.Desired Settlement: They have to repair the problem permanently and repair all the damages and pay for furniture damage etc due to their improper work

Review: I entered an agreement with DJC construction to replace my concrete staircases and asphalt driveway with pavers on April [redacted], 2014. He took Check #[redacted] for $ 5000.00 as an advance for material procurement. He told me that he will start after 2 weeks as he had other job to finish. Before contract was signed he will call me multiple times to see if I made up my mind. But after the contract was signed he stop calling and thn I was calling him every other day to find out when he was coming. After numerous phone calls he started the job on April **, 2014. Initially 1-2 workers showed up and started breaking and digging for 4-5 days before he brought the whole crew. Then there were delays either due to weather or workers not showing up. I gave him another check #[redacted] for $5000.oo half way through the project on May [redacted], 2014. He ultimately finished the job on May[redacted] and I gave him the final payment (check # [redacted]) for $5000.00 as per agreement.

Within 2 weeks of job completion after some rain showers the pavers started staining with yellowish and whitish color. I immediately notified the contractor and he said he will come and look at it. Since then he either promised me multiple times that he will come with his foreman and start looking into what has went wrong. He then gave me date of August **, 2014 to start working. No body showed up. I called him again multiple times only to get the same response or my calls ending up on his voice mail which was full 90% of the time so no message can be left. During my last conversation with him last week and today he said he is trying to get the guy from [redacted] to come and look at it. It has been almost three months he has been avoiding to do the remedial jobDesired Settlement: Desired Settlement: I would like him to find the right solution and replace the pavers as soon as possible.

I have seen very similar complaints like mine on Revdex.com web site. I think his license should be revoked immediately and should be debarred from taking new projects so he can not deceive other people in the community. It is a shame that a man of his age lies so much and gives same excuses to multiple people at different times. I wish I had checked his business background before signing the contract.

Review: I went into contract with DJC Construction to have a brick patio done on 4/**/13. He recieved a ck #[redacted] for $1500.0 to start patio on contract he has a completion date of 4/**/13 it would take only one day to complete work I was told. As of 6/**/13 has not even started job. I must have called him t least 40 times and has ben given excuses after excuses. At first he would recognize my phone number and let it go to voice mail so I used several different cell phones and he would pick up thinking it was new business but when he heard my voice he would get angry and tell me next week. I spoke to him recently and demanded that he give me my money back and was told by him that he will stop by wh my money because he is to busy he never showed up. He is a horrible business man he demands almost 75% upfront and doesnt show up or answer your phone calls. He really should not be granted a license to serve the public.Do not give this man any money up front because you will not see him for months later. He over books jobs and does not complete anything on schedule. Not honest or reliable and will ruin your summer still waiting since 4/**/13.Desired Settlement: Still waiting to be refunded my cash so I can go with somebody that is honest and reliable.

Review: Found an ad for DJC construction and called for an estimate. [redacted] came over and I fell in love with the man's old world [redacted] charm. Had him come back to meet the wife and entered into a contract on 5-*-13, to install pavers in the driveway and patio area, plus build a set of stairs to the back door. The total was $10,000 with a start date of May **, 2013 and a completion of May **, 2013. We agreed on a cash down payment of $4000. I thought I found my long lost uncle and gave him a hug on the way out. Approximately 4 days later I noticed (my bad) the contract was not from DJC but for Adamo L Construction. Tried to call the phone number printed on the contract but the person who answered told me this was not a business. Called Nassau County Consumers Affair and found out the company with License # [redacted] was not for Nassau. They asked me to forward the contract but I declined and told them I would like to try to work it out with the 74 year old [redacted]. He came back to my house and told me how he must of mixed this old contract up with DJC. I told him I was not happy and was not sure we could do business. He promised to do the right thing and wrote up a legit contract and changed the start date because I told him I wanted a firm (real) start and finish date. " [redacted], rain or shine I will be here." I asked him directly, "Once you start you stay until your finished?" He responds "Of course". New start date is 6-*-13. Day comes no phone call but it's raining, since I was a home improvement contractor, I get it. Next day the sun comes out no call again but I figure he is probably behind because of the recent weather. I call him and he tells me the weather has killed him. Finally shows up on 6-**-13 for 1/2 day and removes old driveway and patio and ask for agreed 2nd payment of $3000 as job has started. As I give it to him, I say you are going to be here everyday and he tells me yes unless it rains. Today is now 6-**-13 and they have shown up for basically 4 half days. I had to fight with him to get him to use the standard practice of an eight inch base in the driveway instead of the 5 inch he was getting ready to go forward with. I have stayed home from work to make sure the job is done right and he keeps doing a no show, or once dumped some material in my yard and called it an appearance. I now have to call from different phones to get him to answer. The excuses are so insulting, I'm very frustrated and just want the job finished immediately. I have a graduation party at my house on 6-**-13, so this past Friday night after having a heated conversation, he told me 200% the job would be done before then. The following day 6-**-13, no show or call again. I used my daughter's cell phone, after he didn't return my calls, and when he answered he gave me an excuse about the dentist. I said I didn't care and wanted my job done. He followed with his wife is about to get an EKG and hung up (the boy who cried wolf). I drove by the place of business listed on the contract this weekend and there was a yard sale going on so I drove home and here I am. I have been suffering sleepless night and recently had a check up and my blood pressure was high but after taking it 15 minutes later it was fine( I told the doctor I have a case of [redacted]). This Con Man is putting me through the mill and there is not much I can do when he has $7000 of my money and not even 25% of the work is done. Most of the pavers are not even on site. Oh yes, and on the pavers, we originally wanted the toffee onyx color but called a week before the "firm" start date and advised we would like the toffee onyx mauve color instead. He later informed us it may be more money and called on his cell phone in front of me and quotes 50 cent more a square foot for the Ledgestone and 5 cent more for the round pavers. I told him no problem. I called a dealer on 6-**-13 and was informed they are the same price. The lies never stop. So here I am, I have rescheduled my fence installation three times to ensure we don't interfere with DJC construction but they don't show. I also had to reschedule the sod delivery and installation as well. I have waited hoping he would show today, Monday the [redacted] of June, but when we called him on my wife's phone he told her his son was sick & he was at the hospital and he doesn't have the material yet , he'll be here tomorrow. The bottom line the completed work of DJC I have seen from pictures and the one job site we inspected looked good. DJC offers a 10 year guarantees on labor and material at a competitive price, but I can't get them to show up and do the work.Desired Settlement: Finish the job correctly by 6-**-13

Review: On 6-**-2013 I entered an agreement with DJC construction, specifically , the owner, to rip out my concrete stairs, and driveway and replace with pavers. He was handed a check #[redacted] for $5,900 on 6-**-2013 which he has cashed. After numerous calls which were never returned, he shows up on Sunday August ** stating he will be starting this week, and will need money to purchase the pavers. He was given check #[redacted] for $5,000 which was also cashed. Tuesday 8-**-2013, two workers come to my house and rip out the driveway and steps. After more calls he states the truck broke down so that is why they have not come back. He came to my house with two more workers on or about 9-**-2013, shows me a bill from a repair shop billing him for reflectors etc., which means they got stopped by the DOT. Those workers laid a strip of pavers as an edge to the driveway, left after two hours, and have not been back. I called him many times and he assured me his workers were on the way. I should have asked to where, since it was not to me. 10-**-2013 the phone says mailbox is full. 10-**-2013, phone is disconnected. Today is 10-**-2013, still no workers, a full 8 weeks after having no steps, or driveway, and 8 weeks after the completion date of 9-*-2013 which was changed 4 times. Trying to walk on this dug out surface with grocery's etc is hazardous for my wife and myself. My Mother-in-Law stays with us during the winter since she is in a wheelchair, which there is no way I can get her through the dirt. My drainpipe which empties into a storm drain was broken, and soon it will be too cold to pour cement. I am concerned that with the phone disconnected, he will leave the country and I have no pavers, and am out $10,900Desired Settlement: I would like for him to finish this job, or a full refund, or deliver the product purchased which I am sure was not done.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Review: ON JANUARY ** 2014 I , [redacted] SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH [redacted] OF DJC CONSTRUCTION ([redacted])- FOR TWO NEW PAVED DECKS, WALKWAYS AND FLOWER BEDS TO BE CONSTRUCTED ON MY RESIDENTAL PROPERTY. HE SAID IT COULD START RIGHT AWAY - WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST INDICATION AS IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO POUR CEMENT IN THE WINTER - ESPECIALLY THIS PAST WINTER. THE NEXT DAY, HE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO DO US A FAVOR AND GIVE US A ONCE IN A LIFETIME DEAL OF REDOING THE DRIVEWAY AND FRONT STEPS AND FLOWER BED AREAS . HE CAME TO MY HOME THE FOLLOWING EVENING - WED. JAN ** 2013 TO DISCUSS THE PROPOSAL WITH ME AND MY HUSBAND . HE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS - JAN ** THRU JAN ** TO SEE IF WE HAD MADE UP OWER MINDS ABOUT THE DRIVEWAY . BECASUE OF HIS DESPERATENESS WE DECLINED THE OFFER. WE AGREED THAT HE WOULD START SOON AFTER ON THE ORIGINAL PROJECT AS STATED IN THE CONTRACT. THEN CAME THE SNOW FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. HE CONTACTED US ON SAT FEB. ** TO SEE IF WE HAD CHANGED OUR MINDS ABOUT THE DRIVEWAY. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD THINK ABOUT IT. ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING MARCH ** I CALLED HIM TO SEE WHAT THE SCHEDULE WOULD BE. HE STATED THAT HE HAD ONE JOB IN FRONT OF ME AND THAT IT WOULD LAST ABOUT 10 DAYS AND HE WOULD START MY PROJECT AFTERWARDS. THREE WEEKS LATER ON APRIL ** I CALLED HIM AND MY CALL WENT DIRECTLY TO HIS VOICEMAIL - THE MAILBOX WAS FULL AND I COULD NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. I TRIED THE OTHER PHONE NUMBER AND RECEIVED THE SAME RESULTS. AT THAT POINT I DECIDED TO RETAIN COUNSEL AND DOCUMENT ALL COMMUNICATIONS WITH [redacted] AND OR ANY OTHER EMPLOYEE OF DJC CONSTRUCTION FOR FUTURE ISSUES. AS STATED WITH ALL THE OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS THE LIES STARTED TO FLY. HE PROMISED TO BE HER AND NEVER SHOWED NOR CALLED. THE EXCUSES - SON IS GETTING MARRIED, WE DONT WORK ON SATURDAY, THE WORKMAN DOES NOT WORK ON TUESDAYS BECAUSE HE TAKES HIS TERMINALLY ILL DAUGHTER TO THE DOCTORS ,I WAS IN THE DOCTORS OFFICE ALL DAY - MY HEART.. WHEN ASKED TO PLEASE COME OVER AS MY HUSBAND AND I DO NOT WISH TO USE HIM BECAUSE OF HIS BUSINESS PRACTICES HE CRIED THAT HE COULD NOT BECAUSE HE HAD TO TAKE HIS MEDICATION AND IS NOT FEELING WELL. HE STATED A TOTAL OF 16 TIMES -WITH 5 OF THEM RECORDED ON MY VOICE MAIL - THAT HE WOULD BE HERE TO PUT IN A FULL DAY OF WORK ON THE DISCUSSED DATE AND NEVER COME - THEN WHEN I WOULD CALL HIM TO SEE WHERE HE WAS HE WOULD SAY IT WAS GOING TO RAIN ALL DAY WHEN THE SUN IS SHINNING AND THE FORCAST CALLS FOR 0% PERCIPITATION. THE RAIN EXCUSE TOTALS 6 WITH THREE DOCUMENTED ON MY VOICE MAIL. WITH DOCUMENTED PERSISTANCE I DID MANAGE TO GET THEM TO DEMO AND REMOVE DEBRIS AND DELIVER THE MATERIALS. A FEW WEEKS LATER THEY DID START THE PROJECT BUT I DO NOT ANTICIAPATE THAT THEY WILL COMPLETE THE PROJECT AND HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THEIR LEVEL OF SKILL. AS WITH ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS - I DID GIVE [redacted] OF DJC CONTSTRUCTION $7700 IN FORMS OF TWO CHECKS - CHECK # [redacted] AND [redacted] ON JANUARY **, 2014 WHEN WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT A MAN OF HIS GENERATION HAS THE THESE SORT OF ETHICS. I DO CREDIT MYSELF FOR RETAINING COUNSEL AS I THINK I WILL BE IN NEED OF THEIR SERVICES. I WOUL LIKE THIS JOB COMPLETED AS CONTRACTUALLY STATED AND AM PLANNING TO FURTHER THIS SITUATION AS [redacted] IS NOT OF SOUND MIND AND SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ FROM THE OTHER PEOPLE HE HAS DONE THIS TO, I DO NOT THINK I WILL HAVE ANY PROBLEMS JUSTIFYING MY REQUEST - PERHAPS A CLASS ACTION WILL BE FILED - THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK.

THIS IS NOT A REPREABLE MAN NOR A REPUTABLE COMPANY - WHAT HE IS A CON ARTIST AND SHOULD NOT BE HIRED UNDER ANY CIRUMSTANCES.

IDesired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE THE JOB COMPLETED AS CONTRACTALLY DOCUMENTED AND TO MY SATISFACTION AND THAT HE SHOULD BE HEAVILY FINED AND CLOSED DOWN FOR HIS BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Review: On July [redacted], 2008 our porch work was completed by DJC Construction. The written warranty agreement signed by the [redacted] of the business states that the contractor, "DJC Construction, hereby provides a full lifetime warranty, guaranteeing (myself) [redacted]) that the construction performed on the front porch located at [redacted] to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of no less than twenty years from the date of completion. The contractor shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction at no cost to [redacted] within a reasonable period of time, no longer than four weeks being provided notice of defect". Within 1 year bricks started cracking and started sinking. I have called numerous times, so many times I can't even recall in the last 5 years. At least twice a week, every week, with the promise that they will come and repair. They say yes we will come and I am still waiting. As of this date, July [redacted], 2014, nobody has shown up from DJC Construction to do any work to correct the problems. In the warranty agreement it also states "Should the contractor fail to make such repairs, replacement, or corrections, Contractor shall be liable for all reasonable expenses incurred by [redacted] to do so. Problems to be corrected include, but are not limited to, cracked brick, sunken brick or loose brick." Our railing is going to be ruined because of the damage that has to be repaired, this could have been resolved years ago without this additional problem but they choose to ignore our cracked bricks and sinking porch.Desired Settlement: DJC Construction is here to repair these problems by end of Summer of 2014, or we want a full refund for the cost of all the work done back in 2008 plus replacement cost of railing,.
