PLEASE DO NOT USE DJS Lawn and Landscape . *** gave me an estimate of $7625.00 (Seven Thousand Six Hundred Twenty Five dollars) to cut, edge, blow and trim hedges and blow/remove leaves from a 0.004 section of a little over a half acre property. And when I reported it to the owner, ***, he decided if I disagreed with the $7625.00 that *** quoted, perhaps this wasn't a good fit. Don't choose this company, they price gouge and it seems RACIST TO me. I'm only giving 1 star because "ZERO stars" wasn't an option.
*** is the Sales / Account Manager / Landscape Division, don't trust him to give you a fair and equitable market price. And don't trust the owner *** to treat you like a person he would like to have as a customers.
Over the past 33 years DJS Lawn & Landscape has strived to deliver quality services, products, and excellent customer service to all people regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. The experience you had with DJS is unfortunate. The project proposal you requested included removal of all leaves, sticks, and plant debris from the entire property excluding one small bed in the back yard. Specifically along the right and left property lines, which accounts for over 2200 square feet, leaves and sticks have accumulated for numerous seasons. Your proposal also included pruning all shrubs on the property to reduce their size in half, in some cases removing over two feet of the plants. It also included removal of all weeds from all landscaped beds on the property and the creation of a clean edge around each of those beds to separate bed from turf. It included a separate visit from our lawn maintenance technicians for mowing, string trimming, and blowing the property. The cost of your project was derived from the total man hours, equipment used, and disposal fees incurred to complete the job. It is very unfortunate that after six phone call conversations and a thirty-five minute in person consultation that you felt it necessary to resort to abusive name calling, profanity towards our Operations Manager and Owner, and disrespect towards our entire management team and ownership based solely on a quote that you deemed too high.
I asked DJS to remove leaves from approx 180 Sq Ft area in the natural area on the side of my house. and I also asked for a quote to cut grass on a bi- weekly schedule of which I was told would be a separate quote. DJS has unfair pricing practices .
Here is the quote they gave after my asking for an initial removal of leaves from a 180 Sq Ft area and 2 hedge beds; and to prepare a separate quote to do a routine bi weekly grass cut service: the rest of the stuff they mentioned is what they made up creatively to equal $7625.00 plus all of the other crazy prices shown above. DJS is a bad company. Remeber, the whole property is ONLY 0.60 and was just cut a week before *** came out.

Scheduled Lawn Maintenance - I have measured all of the turf areas of your lawn and based on the size of the lawn and the amount of time we expect to be there each visit for mowing, trimming, etc. our price per lawn maintenance visit will be $190.00. During each visit the team will start by policing the lawn to remove debris such as sticks, trash, etc. before mowing. They will mow all lawn areas with appropriately sized equipment, trim as needed with string trimmers and edge all hard surfaces such as walks, curb and drive with their stick-edgers if necessary. At the completion of their work a member of the team will blow all hard surfaces clear of clippings and debris including the walks, drive and even the street. In our opinion, it doesn't matter how nice the lawn looks after mowing if the street is covered with grass clippings. Weed killer will be sprayed in landscaped beds at an additional rate of $20.00 per gallon as needed. The frequency of lawn maintenance can be any that you desire. We can come weekly or even do a variable schedule that will have us in your yard weekly during the growing season and leaf season and then less frequently during dry months and the winter season. You get to choose!
Turf Applications - After checking on the turf areas of your lawn I am able to provide a proposal for turf management services for your fescue lawn. The cost per application to treat the turf area would be $225.00. Our turf applications program includes 8 standard rounds over the course of one year and includes fertilizations, weed control, and lime.
Fall Aeration and Seeding - I also priced for you our Fall Aeration & Seeding service separately. Since fescue grass does self-propagate it will naturally thin over time, hence the need to seed nearly every fall. This will maintain a thick, full turf and keep weeds from taking over. The price for this service would be $1895.00.
Our seeding process begins with the entire turf area being aerated or aero-vated. We will also aerate by hand any small, hard to reach areas that the larger machines can't reach. We will also "scratch the edges" which means our crew will spend extra time roughing up the grade along the edges of the drives, walks, parking areas, etc. These areas are usually the first to show signs of weeds due to thin grass. That thin grass is often due to more compacted soil that simply didn't get a proper application of seed to begin with. Any bare areas or areas where the existing turf is thin will be slit seeded with a slit seeding machine and the entire turf area will have seed applied with a broadcast spreader. We use a proprietary blend of tall fescue grass seed that is blended for DJS only - our own private label, if you will. Finally, wheat straw will be applied to bare areas to prevent erosion and to retain moisture. The wheat straw cost varies according to how many, if any bales are used.
Initial Clean-up Project- The first visit would include shrub pruning, removal of sticks, leaves, and plant debris from the property and disposed of off-site. Weeds will be sprayed/killed in the landscaped beds and all existing landscaped beds will be given a clean edge between the bed and the turf areas. The specified wildflowers at the Carissa Holly beside the driveway will be removed and disposed of off-site. The turf areas will also be mowed at a height of 1.5"- 2". $7625.00
Landscape Project Around Two Specified Tree Beds- Install composted topsoil to create a planting area around the perimeter of each bed and install 120-1 gallon Liriope Big Blue. Water in plants at conclusion of project and clean up any affected areas. $3890.00
*** Anyone would find this Crazy for a property that in it's entirety is only 0.60 of an acre, had just been cut a week before *** came to my house
DJS Lawn and Landscape had been maintaining my mothers property for several years. They mowed her yard twice per month during the growing season and once each month during the winter and had done so for years. My mother asked them to remove the leaves and they charged her $1045. I contacted them and ask them to verify they had not made a mistake on the bill. I didn't hear back from them for 7 months until I received an email with the following text "This invoice remains unpaid. Please pay promptly to avoid further collections action." I paid the bill and will not do business with them again.
