I’m writing in response to the letter I received on Jan. 26, 2016 concerning [redacted] My company is currently in the process of trying to complete a roof and siding job for her. In her complaint she failed to mention that we have been in contact with her from day one and continue to try to...

work with her. Her materials will be delivered when weather permits. I won’t be responsible for materials left out and exposed to the elements. The old siding has been removed and the house is wrapped.  Work is delayed because we informed [redacted] that there may be some rot on the roof due to age and that it needed to be inspected and replaced before we could move forward and that we were not responsible for rot. Also this could pose safety issues if there was rot. We cannot put new shingles over rotten boards. She did not get back to me so I asked our contractor to check it out for us. Also there were some concerns that the rafters may not be up to code. My company is only responsible for removing and replacing the siding and shingles, not any sheeting or boards that may need to be replaced due to rot. I explained this to [redacted] several weeks ago and she said she expected us to pay for all of it. Also I was just informed yesterday that she wants an old chimney torn down and roofed over and expects us to pay labor, material, and disposal for that too. I won’t be liable for any damage that may occur to her house during the tear down. She is responsible for that. I told her that I will do her job as soon as weather permits. If she wants her materials delivered we can do that too. But I won’t be responsible for any damage or theft that may occur.         My contractor informed me yesterday that our inspection is complete and we now have the go ahead to finish our part as soon as the weather breaks and the chimney issue is resolved. I’ve been informed that the only rotten boards on the roof that need replaced are the ones around the chimney that she wants torn down. There will be no refund because half the job has already been paid for. The other half is paid when the job is complete.  As I have informed [redacted] our full intensions are to complete this job as soon as possible. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank You,  [redacted]
