In response to the letter I have received from you concerning the complaint, Mrs. [redacted] had contactedme stating that I needed to return to her home and fix the “beam” on her porch stating “you didn’tdo it right”. I called Mrs. [redacted] back and explained to her that first off, she hadn’t paid her last...

invoicefor additional work that she asked me to do. The work she failed to pay for was additional trim workin the master bedroom and installing new closet doors, which was a total of $490.00 for labor andmaterial. I also informed Mrs. [redacted] that I only guarantee my work for one year and that the job wastwo years ago. Mrs. [redacted] was very agitated stating she didn’t owe me anything and the quote neversaid the guarantee was for one year. rn fact the quote never had anything about a guarantee at all.During the work, Mrs. [redacted] was a very difficult customer (squeaky wheel); I made every effort toplease this customer and really thought I had. The “beam” she is referring to is really a collar tie andoffers no weight bearing load. I find it hard to believe that after two years of doing the porch andmore than a year doing the Interior work, that all of a sudden she is unhappy with many things. Ihave been in business for years and this is the first issue I have had with a customer. I would love tomake her happy but I’m not sure this person will ever be happy. While doing the job, I installed acustomer supplied paddle fan that had a defect and only worked for a day, she called screaming atme that I didn’t install her fan correctly; I went to her home the very next day and diagnosed theproblem to be the fan. I offered to install a new one at no charge to the customer and did so, eventhough it was supplied by the customer. This customer was very difficult to please but again Ithought I did. She had even asked for an additional quote a year ago which I had supplied her aswell. As far as the plaster cracking, it’s really drywall and the customer was responsible for paintingand I don’t know if that was done or if the proper products were used. Again the drywall was donemore than a year ago and I cant believe that after all this time that there is a problem. Had Mrs.[redacted] paid for the work that had been done I would have taken the time to go to her home andinspected the work and her concerns. Mrs. [redacted] also said that I never called regarding the openinvoice, she is correct, I never did. I never called because she indicated to me she had no plans onpaying the invoice. I decided it wasn’t worth pursuing since I considered her new husband a friendand am friends with his family, Sometimes money isn’t worth losing a friendship.Sincerely,Dc.

Review: Contacted contractor, Due to the fact that some of the work he did is not of quality workmanship. He never returned phone/text messages for 4 days. Once he did responded his statement to me was, since I have had a open invoice for over a year he basically wasn't returning to fix his mistakes. I have receipt that invoice is paid. He also replied that his work is only guaranteed for one year. No where on his estimate does it say that. I told him if I have a open invoice I will pay it if he shows me proof that it has never been paid. There was never a invoice sent or phone call made letting me know it was not paid. We have a bowing beam on our back porch, that is getting worse from him not putting the right size beam and also plaster that is cracking and many other things. I would strongly recommend that no one use him as your contractor, he does terrible work, never asks home owner if things need done he just takes it upon himself to do whatever. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS. I also recommend that any one who does decide to use him that they get a certificate of insurance, because somewhere along the line you will need it. Big mistake on my part.Desired Settlement: I would like him to come back and fix problems, but I would never hire him to do anything else
