Working with DMV Repair was a veritable nightmare. They took my money to diagnose a problem and diagnosed it incorrectly. They charged me for parts and labor and didn't fix the problem, and said they'd refund the money, but haven't. They won't pick up the phone when I call. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. They also were terrible about calling me back and keeping me posted on what they were doing after they took my money and were still trying to diagnose the real problem.

DMV Appliance Repair advertises to provide services in Virginia (), Maryland (), and Washington, DC ().

The company was contracted to install a *** dishwasher. Their website purports their technicians are "expert" technicians for *** and states "We have factory trained technicians for *** Appliances."

The representative was asked if their technicians were *** certified and they said their technicians were. When *** was contacted after the failed service was provided, *** confirmed that there are no *** certified technicians at this business.

The technician, Ali (last name not available) incorrectly installed the dishwasher.

1) He did not place the electrical box in a location that would allow the dishwasher to push back appropriately.

2) He did not install the brackets provided with the dishwasher and the dishwasher wouldn't work. A *** technician came to inspect and confirmed that the dishwasher was incorrectly installed. The *** technician informed me that not having the brackets installed makes the dishwasher a danger to health and safety since it can fall out.

I contacted DMV Appliance Repair to schedule a follow-up visit to correct the installation. The DMV Appliance Repair representative stated that the brackets were not provided. Then they changed their story and said the correct ones were not provided. This was not conveyed to the homeowner verbally at the time of installation, nor was it noted in writing on the receipt.

In addition to the safety problem caused by DMV Appliance Repair, they also damaged by property. Instead of using the brackets provided with the dishwasher, the DMV Appliance Repair technician drilled into the wooden cabinet haphazardly and damaged the cabinet by splitting the wood. They also drilled through the gasket with wood screw creating a hole. The gasket has slots for the bracket to slide through, which the technician ignored.

Their phone representative was rude and abusive.

This customer called and requested for a *** dishwasher installment. When we sent our technician over, he noticed that the counter was made out of marble. He then pulled out the old dishwasher and noticed that he could not put the brackets in the marble counter without damaging it. The technician also saw that there were already holes from the previous dishwasher, so he did not create any new holes. Instead, he simply installed the dishwasher in the old holes.
The customer’s husband was present at the time of the service, and he seemed satisfied. The husband also signed the invoice, marking the job as complete.
After one week of the service being performed, the customer called us back. She informed us that the dishwasher was not installed correctly. We told her that we would send the technician again with different brackets (the old brackets could not be installed without damaging the counter). We told her that we would install the new brackets (ones that would fit with wood) free of charge and informed her that we had already ordered them and were waiting for them. However, she said she wanted a refund and did not want the technician to come back.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

The company has falsely represented our interactions and I want a full refund for the shoddy service provided.

They stated that "the counter was made out of marble" but it is granite. They neglected to ask what material our countertop was made of when the appointment was booked so they could bring appropriate materials and supplies for installation or have me acquire them. Any reputable installer would ask given that granite countertops are very common.

They stated "The customer’s husband was present at the time of the service, and he seemed satisfied. The husband also signed the invoice, marking the job as complete." but there was no way for my husband to know that the brackets were not installed since the installer did not inform my husband. Brackets are concealed. Why would the installer choose to hide such important and relevant information unless they were trying to hide their shoddy work?

When the dishwasher failed to work properly, a *** technician inspected the dishwasher and the installation provided by DMV and indicated that it was not installed correctly. The *** technician found no brackets installed. Rather, he found that DMV drove one screw through the intact gasket and into our cabinet on one side, causing it to split.

The DMV representative has discredited herself by saying she ordered the correct brackets and would install them. If that is the case, why do they say in their response to the Revdex.com that the job was complete? Furthermore, they did not inform my husband that they felt the brackets which were provided with the dishwasher by *** would not work. The installer failed to leave the brackets that we purchased with our dishwasher. And no one from DMV called to say they ordered the brackets. Rather, they presented the job as complete, which, by their own account, is inaccurate.

They also failed to include a correct telephone number on the invoice. That is not our telephone number and it is not even similar to our number

I would like a full refund of the $189 paid for the incomplete installation of my dishwasher. I will not seek a refund for the cost of the brackets that DMV took from my home without permission.

Regards

We called DMV Appliance Repair on July 5 and scheduled a technician to come to our house on July 7. Over the phone, we explained that we had a *** Dryer displaying error code BE2, which we had researched as sticky keys that needed likely a new circuit board. The technician arrived on July 7, merely wrote down our Model No/Serial No and the error code, and said he'd get back to us on Monday with an estimate after ordering the parts. He charged us $49 but said the money would be applied to our repair, so not to worry about the charge. Monday came and went with no call, so I followed up with a call and the woman on the phone explained that they could not find the part locally so they'd have to order it. She'd call me with an estimate as soon as she located the part. Tuesday came and went and no call. Finally, I called again on Wednesday and the woman said they couldn't find the part as it had been discontinued. When I then inquired to have the $49 refunded, she got defensive. That same day, I left a negative review on Angie's list. Later, someone from the company called me. This time, they claimed to have found the part and asked me if they could order it. They told me the job would cost me $200 total. I said Yes. On July 16, a tech came to our house. He told me that he could not start the job until I agreed to remove my negative review on Angie's list. I explained that if he completed the job correctly, that I'd update my review. He got defensive. He then started saying he had been fired from the company due to my review. I then stopped him and asked why he was at my house offering to conduct a job if he had been fired by the company. He then clarified that he'd been fired, but that he'd get hired again if I agreed to remove my review. Then, he said, "But I can't do the job for less than $270." I then stopped him and explained that over the phone I had agreed to an estimate of $200. He then began questioning me as to who had given me that estimate, refused to do the job, and left.

Response To ID: *** (Address of the customer: *** Avenue)
On July 7th, the technician went to diagnose the dryer because the part does not always need to be replaced, and a mere repair might work. However, the technician confirmed that the control panel was not working, so he wrote the model/serial number to locate the part for their INDIVIDUAL machine.
We tried to find the part locally, but there were no distributors near us. The only place you can find it was at ***. Once we located it at ***, we called the customer with an estimate with $259 (The cost of the part was $139, and the labor was $120). We informed her that since she had already paid $49, now she would have to pay $210 more if she decided to go with the repair. The customer agreed.
When the part arrived, we sent a technician to the customer home, and she stated she would only pay $150, and not $210. The technician disagreed because he was not allowed to do so by the company and she had already agreed with the company to pay $210. She had also told the technician she would get the $49 refunded by her credit company.
On the topic of the forty-nine dollars that were charged, that is a service call (diagnostic fee). This a payment to the technician for diagnosing the machine and checking if it only needs a repair. However, if you decide to go with repair, then we don't change the service call separately: We include it in the repair cost. Since she did not decide to get the machine repaired, that's why we charged $49 separately.
On the topic of the technician getting fired, we do not understand why the customer says that we fired him. Because when we questioned the technician, he said that he did not say anything of that sort. And if he had been fired, he would not have brought over the part, as it is always delivered to the office.

If I could post negative I would. Paid DMV $375 to fix our dishwasher at our rental property in Springfield. They came out and said they fixed it but two days later it broke again. Now I've been calling/emailing trying to reach them but am totally unable to get a reply. Why would you want to do business with crooks like this? They take your money, but don't stand behind their work or provide the courtesy of responding if you have an issue. Run, don't walk, away from the thought of giving your money to this company!
