Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/24) */
Contact Name and Title: [redacted],Office Manager
Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX
[redacted] came into our office demanding her husband's contact lens rx and said she wasn't leaving until she had it. Her husband was already told on the phone just prior...

to her arriving that Dr Baron had to sign off of it and it would be the next day before he would be in the office. He had asked about ordering his contacts online and I told him that he could go ahead and do that and the process was that the business would fax us a form to verify the prescription therefore there would be no delay with his ordering. [redacted] continued to demand that we call the doctor and have him come into the office to sign it. Again she was told that the doctor would be in on Tuesday and that the prescription would be at the front desk to be picked up. She asked what was her husband supposed to do because he had no contacts to wear. Since her husband wears contacts that are to be disposed of on a daily basis he should have known he was running out of them well before running out of his current supply. It is not the fault of this office that he didn't have glasses to wear because. Any contact lens wearer knows that you need to have a pair of glasses as a back up. If he had a pair of glasses there wouldn't have been an issue with his being able to drive. There was no laughing involved nor was it ever mentioned that he couldn't drive without them. [redacted] was extremely disruptive to our patients in the optical department. She was again informed that once the doctor came in the next day he would sign off of it and in the meantime we gave her a 5 day supply of contacts to get him by which we were not obligated to do. The prescription was ready for pickup on the next day (Tuesday) as told and still had not been picked up on Friday so it was placed in the mail that day. Due to the disruption that [redacted] was causing in the office we did dismiss them from the office as patients. There were two other employees sitting right there and witnessed her behavioral demands demeanor.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Most of this response is true I said, " I am not leaving until I have his prescription or the issue is resolved." They were not forth coming with a resolution and did not say it would be released on Tuesday but on Wednesday of that week. That timeline was unexceptable considering when we received our eye exams we asked for the prescriptions and they made some excuse then why we could not have them. Their practices and policy's within the office are made to further gain out of pocket expenses from the patient. It should be known that they are charging patients for routine eye visits that they know will not be covered by insurance. As well as I have yet to receive my eye prescription. Also, their customer service practices are disgraceful and should be made public. In the event a new patient would choice their office for services.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2015/09/08) */
I am not sure what the complainant is referring to when she is stating "their practices and policy's within the office are made to further gain out of pocket expenses from the patient. It should be known that they are charging patients for routine eye visits that they know will not be covered by insurance." Our office verifies insurance as a courtesy to the patient but ultimately it is the patient's responsibility to know their overages. As previously mentioned we gave her husband a 5 day supply of contacts at no charge as a courtesy and his contact lens prescription was mailed to him since they did not return to pick it up. As far as the complainant not receiving her eye prescription yet, had she asked for it, it would have been written up for her at that time because that prescription does not require the physician's signature. We have since written it out and mailed it to her at the address on file.
