I am the Executive Director of Hope for Opelousas, a nonprofit serving youth the youth of St. Landry Parish. We also host mission teams to do work throughout our community. This summer we had four college students staying at our Hope House while they put on summer programming. One afternoon after lunch in a matter of moments a grease fire kicked off on the stove and the kitchen of our intern house was up in flames. Within minutes the fire department arrived and extinguished the flames but there was significant damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the home.

It is my job to raise funds for our non-profit and I tell people when you donate you are supporting a great mission. The truth is when we hire anyone for work, or spend money at any business we are making an investment.
