Doctors' Resource Specialists Reviews (3)

I apologize for the confusion on this account.  We have contacted the patient's insurance and they reviewed the claim and realized that they had processed the claim incorrectly.  There should not have been any patient responsibility on the claim in question and they have sent the claim...

back for payment.
In the future, if the patient feels that there is any discrepancy in how a claim has been handled the patient or the patient's representative, as long as we have a signed power of attorney on file, can question the claim with our claims department or the insurance company directly.  We are required to have a signed power of attorney on file in order to speak with anyone other than the patient due to HIPAA privacy guidelines.
Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention.
Sincerely,
Julie S[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.it should have never got to this point after many phone calls to doctor and this business. There is no HIPPA violation in calling and asking them to recode and rebill to correct a problem I found in the records. When there is not information exchanging just a problem correction there is not a need for POA as it can be viewed at facility which will avoid sending a senior to collections for $16.16.

Review: I was charged by Dr [redacted] for a routine colonoscopy a deductible of $334.85 which I paid prior to the procedure on 4/16/2013. My insurance [redacted] of Tx paid 100% of the procedure since it was routine and I was told I should get my deductible back from the Dr. who uses billing service D.R.S.-Doctors Resources Specialist. I mailed a letter direct to Dr. [redacted] requesting refund who forwarded it to DRS since they said they handle all their billing. I contacted D.R.S. on 5-1-13 and was told it takes a while for payments to post for them to see and again called on 6-7-13 and filed for and requested a refund and was told it could take 4-6 weeks after all bills paid by insurance. At that time, they said I would have to wait until all Dr. [redacted]'s bills were paid by insurance first before they could do so.

I checked back every couple of weeks and checked with [redacted] who stated all bills had been paid by them and that the Dr's billing service should give me the money back. I called DRS again and spoke to their head supervisor, [redacted] on 7-12-13 who said she showed all the bills paid but it would take 4-6 weeks to refund the money to me and talked again on 8-13 and left her a message to call, but she never did. That was over 6 weeks ago and still no refund.

They have had my money for almost 5 months now, if I had a way to turn them over to collections, I would!!

Please help me get my refund back. I postponed my gall bladder surgery I had scheduled on 4/29 for I couldn't come up with the money this service owed me so would have the full $1000 deductible. Now I no longer have any of it so hope I can postpone until next year's tax refund. I am fed up with thisDesired Settlement: I want my refund mailed to me asap and an apology for taking so long and jeopardizing my health for having to post-pone a procedure that was necessary. I want them to be monitored to see if I am not the only person they are doing this to for many probably do not do anything about it. Frankly, if a Dr charges a fee that is not allowed by insurance, it should have to be refunded immediately. Thank you for any help on this.

Response:

Dear Mrs. [redacted]-

I apologize for your frustration with the refund process. Doctors' Resource Specialists is the billing company for [redacted] the office of Dr. [redacted]. Any money that is collected on behalf of Dr. [redacted] is deposited directly into Dr. [redacted]'s account. Once a refund is identified, the information is sent over to the office and reviewed. The office then cuts the refund check to send to the appropriate party. This process can take several weeks depending on the volume and the doctor's schedule. You should be in receipt of your check as it was cut and mailed at the end of August. If you have any issues in the future, please feel free to contact me directly and I will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

VP, Doctors' Resource Specialists
