Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/22) */
In July 2014 our business rebuilt the masonry wall surrounding the clients front porch. The brick wall is built on top of its own foundation and does not touch concrete porch. Expansion joint exists between concrete and wall. The cracks on porch...

and steps existed prior to our rebuilding of masonry wall. Cracks on clients steps were not caused by the rebuilding of the masonry wall, as they do not touch. When client called us to complain about cracks this spring, it was brought to their attention that due to the age of the existing concrete porch and the use of deicing salts over the extremely cold winter, they were the likely cause. We offered to fix the cracks on porch for an additional $450.00// Client refused our offer. Client then had a lawyer contact us regarding this. I explained the situation to them regarding cracks, they notified me that client is selling home and wants this fixed in order to sell house. We offered to repair for an additional fee as cracks were not caused by Doherty Tuckpointing
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The contractors response is unacceptable. To this date they have not shown any good faith in wanting to make this right and correct their poor workmanship. There is no way I am paying the contractor $450 to correct their own mistake. I had an independent contractor look at the porch and they said that the cracking was most likely due to Doherty not putting in adequate expansion joints between the new wall that was built and the existing porch. Nor is it due to the use of ice melter because of the location of the cracking and the fact that salt causes the concrete to "pop" not crack along an expansion joint. I also have before and after photos showing that there were zero cracks in the porch before the work was done. Doherty continues to claim that it is not due to their work and refuses to compromise or fix the problem. They obviously do not care about their reputation or being honest with their customers. I have exhausted all avenues and will not be satisfied until they admit fault and correct the problem free of charge. If I have to pursue other options such as filing a complaint with the Village in which they have their business license or pursing legal options I will do so.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/04/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I never agreed to spend additional money to fix the damage that the contractor caused, I was only informed what he would be willing to do, which is unacceptable. I've stated what I want done and he refuses to compromise, so I have nothing else to say.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2015/05/07) */
Doherty Tuckpointing stands by its work 100%. We have offered to repair cracks on customers porch, at price advised. Customer has declined, we have nothing else to say.
