I am filing a complaint against Dolby Brass & Silver for inferior service for table repair. In fact, they made the table worse than before the repair.In late December, [redacted] came to pick up my vintage brass coffee table. He promised that he could remove all pits, scratches and other damages and bring it back to shiny, original condition. He charged me an initial $250 and then a second $250 upon delivery. First, he was over two weeks late bringing back the table. And, when we received the table (I wasn't home at the time), it was not even close to repaired. In fact, it looked worse than before. [redacted] left it with my husband (who was not involved in the original transaction) and immediately deposited the second half of the payment without waiting to check and see if I was happy with the result. The table still has pits, some of the brass had actually been rubbed OFF and the glass that he charged me for still had a seal on it like a car window! It suggested a complete lack of attention to detail and disrespect for the customer. I called [redacted] to discuss the table and payment, and he absolutely refused to refund me any of my money until he had a chance to try again and fix the table. He flat out refused multiple times to even consider paying us a portion back of what we owed and essentially gave us no other choice than to have him try and fix the table. We gave him another chance, with the caveat that if it wasn't fixed to our specifications, we would require $300 back in compensation. The table is still with [redacted], three weeks AFTER he said he would bring it back to us a second time. He responds to my inquiries only via text, sometimes in a very disrespectful manner (ie: "Lady, Relax..I will do the best I can.."). He will not confirm when he can bring the table to us, saying it is taking more time than he thought.We wanted to make things work with [redacted], but after more than eight weeks and the table still not being in our possession, we felt that we had to make this tough decision to file a formal complaint. I would never recommend him to anyone wanting to get any sort of furniture restoration and my experience working with him has been extremely fraught with stress. I just want my table back (and $300) and to put this stressful and very expensive situation behind us. His website boasts positive customer testimonials, but I find that very hard to believe. Desired SettlementWe understand that [redacted] has put in some time to fix the table. Therefore, we aren't asking for a full refund- just half of what we paid him ($300.) In cash. And we'd also like the table back. Business Response I received the customer table in December.It hadrust spots on it I polished the rust spots out itstill left spots where the rust spots was.She Ipolished the brass off first of all you cannot polish brass off it is brass or it is not brass.On Febuary 15 I returned the table for a secondtime. I had to paint it brass and put a sealanton it.At that time I gave her a refund in a checkfor $175.00 in which she cashed.I did not knowat that time that she had filed a complaint.
