Review: On a trip to ** last July, my fiance' and I reserved a vehicle from Dollar Car Rental. Upon picking up the vehicle (we ordered a mid size and got a compact), we noticed the car had over 40,000 miles!! Ok, we needed to get to our destination, so we overlooked the mileage. Over the course of the next 4 day, the car constantly stalled and the overheating light was on. We called Dollar from [redacted], our destination for the trip and requested to exchange the vehicle locally, as there were many Dollar locations within 25-30 miles of [redacted]. We were informed that the only location that can service was one of the 3 major [redacted] airports, all 90+ minutes away from us. We told them that the car would likely break down. After there was no assistance from the company, we notified [redacted], the card that we put the contract on that we may have an issue in the coming days. On the way to our return flight 3 days later, the car DID break down. We called roadside assistance. They instructed us the lock the key in the car and we told them we would find our own ride to the airport, which we did. When we got our [redacted] statement the next month, we saw that Dollar charged us over $900 for THEIR CAR BREAKING DOWN, and never once offered any apology for our inconvenience. This is an absolute travesty, and they should be held accountable for the products that they rent!Desired Settlement: We demand the full refund of the breakdown charges at minimum, and really they should refund the rental charge as well. We tried to communicate the issues to the company in advance and were not only ignored, but penalized very heavily for a car that never should've been rented.
