I would like to respond to the complaint made by Mr. [redacted] regarding his son's account.  [redacted] with his mother presented to my office on May 25,2016 for consultation for removal of his two lower impacted wisdom teeth.  At the consultation Mrs. [redacted] was...

given the insurance codes for the procedure and the cost.  Mrs. [redacted] was advised that my office would check her insurance benefits and also advised her to check them as well.  [redacted] presented for the procedure on June 2,2016 for removal of the two lower wisdom teeth with general anesthesia.  [redacted] and his mother choice the general anesthesia. My office did do a predetermination with their medical insurance which was Anthem and they told my office that the patient responsibility would be $150.00 which was collected the day of procedure.  [redacted] did well and presented for post-op appointment with no issues on June 7,2016  My office submitted insurance claim to Anthem medical which paid $576.00 but they would not pay for general anesthesia.  There was also a $144.00 insurance write off.  My office advised the parents to appeal the general anesthesia denial.  This payment from Anthem medical was received on July 8,2016 to my office.  My office was asked to submit a claim for the services performed to the dental insurance which my office did on July 8,2016.  The dental insurance company GEHA paid $437.50 and this check was sent to Mr. [redacted] and cashed by him on August 3,2016.  Mr. [redacted] never forward this $437.50 that was for services performed on his son to my office.  My office has attempted to reach Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] by phone and by mail with not response.  My office staff has NOT made any threatening phone calls or derogatory statements to them.  I have not called or sent any letters to them myself as they claim.  They have decided to send me $61.50 every two weeks which I received on  September 26,2016 and October 11,2016.  I never agreed to this especially since Mr. [redacted] cashed the $437.50 insurance check and kept it knowing that there is still a balance on his son's account .  The services were performed June 2,2016 and the account has not been paid in full.  My office submitted all the insurances claims for this family and they kept the insurance check for $437.50 and then did not communicate with my office after numerous attempts to contact Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] to resolve this matter they decided to make payments which I did not approve.  This account still has a balance and  and it has been five months since services were provided and I would like it paid.    Thank you Dominick C. Was told consultation is $75; Dr. Adornato took x-ray to determine treatment, with no mention of extra cost; was told as leaving that x-ray cost $350.
I went in for a $75 consultation and ended up with an over $400 bill for a service that many other practitioners will render for free with a consultation. If I had been told from the start that the x-ray would cost $350, I would not have had it done.
