Dominion Lending Centres Maximal Mortgages

Was guided to a certain mortgage company upon renewal (in April 2019) of our mortgage that allowed for porting and 'betterments and improvements' as our house was for sale and we were planing to buy a brand new home where the betterments and improvements funds would be needed. Once our house sold and we placed an offer on another house we were told by our mortgage broker that this company won't port and provide betterment and improvements. She then took our business to another lender. Which in turn we had to pay a $4000 penalty to the initial mortgage company (as she locked us in for a 5 year term). We then found out that this company absolutely allows for porting and betterments and improvements. Leaving us reason to believe that our mortgage was switched to another company so that she could get paid once again (If we would've stayed with initial company there would be no additional payment to her). Because we had to go with another lender there was a delay with financing on our offer to purchase and an extension was required for this. Every time an extension was needed it pushed our posession date further back. Because of this we ended up having to rent a storage pod which cost us another $500.
