To Whom It May Concern:
Today,...

10/20/1016, Dominion Self Storage received what your employee, [redacted], described as a "3rd letter".  Dominion Self Storage or any representative has not received any prior communication from the Revdex.com.  [redacted] emailed a copy of the supposed previous letters.
Please consider this and the attached contract signed by [redacted] our response to an invalid complaint against our company.
At Dominion Self Storage every customer who rents a storage unit is informed, both verbally and by contract, that in the state of Virginia, by law, "The exclusive care, custody and property stored in the leased space shall remain vested in the occupant."
The contract signed by this customer has a specific section regarding any damages incurred which you can see on page 2 of the initialed and signed contract.  This section of the contract initialed and signed by [redacted] specifically has her "request that the insurance requirement to maintain insurance for my goods while in storage be waived.  I acknowledge and understand that this waiver of the insurance requirement places me in the position of a self insurer.  I acknowledge and understand that this waiver places no burden, responsibility or liability upon the storage facility.  I acknowledge and understand that the storage facility does not insure my goods and has no responsibilty to provide insurance.  I acknowledge and agree that loss or damage that occurs to my goods while in storage is fully at my expense."
It should also be noted that the owner of Dominion Self Storage met with [redacted] in August to view the storage unit she had contracted.  I, Dawn H[redacted] was a witness to this meeting at her storage unit.  At this meeting she claimed she had insurance, realized the exclusive care and custody and/or the property was hers, and that there was no damage done by the water she said had been in her unit.  She even made the comment that she wished an artificial holiday tree had been damaged so that she could get rid of it.  When the storage unit was reviewed by the owner and me at the meeting with [redacted], there was no water present.
As you can see, all customers are informed at the onset of rental of the law in the state of Virginia and the policies at Dominion Self Storage.  Should there be further information the Revdex.com needs from me or anyone at Dominion Self Storage, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Dawn *. H[redacted], Manager

Review: I rented a unit from this storage facility in October During that time, the staff of this facility incorrectly documented payment (by not putting in that I made them) and did not follow through on setting up automatic paymentsAlso, this was climate controlled unit, which I was in on a regular basisI noticed mildew growing on my furniture in October of I reported the problemWhen I moved out of the unit last weekend (September 2013), I discovered that all of my furniture and several other ite** were covered with moldI took photosI called for management to come and see the damage while I was still there moving outNo one cameOn Monday, September I called to get the name of the insurance company that was offered at the time I signed up for the unit to provide insurance and was told that insurance was not a service offered by this companyI PAID EXTRA FOR INSURANCEand now I'm being told there is none.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! The price of the unit was raised on me without notificationI had two payments that were "lost" and had to make those payment over again so my stuff would not be sold and they accepted payment for insurance which now they are claiming never existed.Desired Settlement: I want refunded for two years worth of insurance payments AND I want compensated for the time and cost of having to get my furniture cleaned and "de-molded"

October 14,
Dear **[redacted],
Thank you for contacting us concerning the complaint referenced aboveServing our customers is always our highest priority, so we are grateful for the opportunity to respond
At the outset, we wish to correct certain inaccuracies in the complaintThe customer indeed was placed on Auto-Pay Service as requested in June 2012, but her card was declined on so many attempts to process her monthly payment that our payment system removed her from the service (please see enclosure)She further was delinquent on several occasions due to declined checks and lateness, and indeed the lien and auction process was begun due to her severe delinquency (see enclosure)Also, notice was provided to all customers regarding rate changes as of April 1, (see enclosure)
Also, at no time did we inform her that her insurance no longer existedHer insurance was not provided by Dominion Self Storage but rather by the [redacted] company, and the contract for coverage was and is between her and [redacted]What we did make clear to her was that we no longer sell such insurance for [redacted], not that her policy no longer existedFor customers who obtained policies prior to our decision to no longer sell them, we do collect payment for [redacted] as part of the customer's monthly charge for rentHer delinquencies with us may therefore have affected her coverage status through [redacted]'s insurance, a fact we took great pains to explainIn any case, her coverage is a matter between her (the insured) and [redacted] (the insurer)
We do provide climate-controlled storage facilities, and we constantly monitor them for both temperature and humidityHowever, "climate-controlled" is not synonymous with sterile or HEPA filteredWe do not dispute that there was mold in and on her stored contents, but the variables that may have contributed to this are too numerous to account forFor instance, there may have been mold already present in her items when she moved in, or the items contained higher than desirable moisture levels, or the items may have been packed too tightly or all of the aboveFurther, the contract for storage (see enclosure) executed by the customer states quite clearly that we are not the insurer of her property, and that she agrees we are not responsible for damage or loss to her property while in storageThis contract provision is expressly pursuant to the law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, which we fully disclose to all our customers: "The Exclusive care, custody and property stored in the leased space shall remain vested in the occupant" (see enclosure)
Thank you again for the opportunity to respondPlease feel free to contact us if there are further questions or concerns
Sincerely,
Consumer
