Regretfully, there was a mistake made on my client’s tax return due to a mix up in the office and the taxpayer’s refund was deposited in someone else’s account (the first time this has ever happened).  We have been in business for 45 years and unfortunately mistakes happen....

 I notified the taxpayer and IRS of the mistake and refunded her tax preparation fee without hesitation.  I also apologized numerous times and did everything I could to correct the situation and calm her down.  The IRS told me it would take 2-3 weeks to send her a refund by check.  If answering 8 phone calls and 9 emails in a timely fashion and correcting the situation in less than 48 hours is what one calls unprofessional, then so be it.  We are sorry for the error and wish the taxpayer well.

Review: I had my federal and state taxes performed by this company. I was tracking online my direct deposit of the federal and state taxes. I had also contacted my credit union several times to inquire about my direct deposit. On March 4th on the online chat with the VA Taxation Dept. I learned that the tax preparer incorrectly inserted someone else's routing and account number on my electronic filing. I contacted the tax preparer and learned that he knew of the mistake as of March 3 and 4th, but did not make any efforts to contact me by phone or email to notify me of this serious mistake. I asked the tax preparer when and if he was going to call about this serious mistake and he stated he wasn't going to notify me. His attitude was that it was an oops not big mistake was done. I was angry at the fact that this tax preparer was not professional in notifying his client that he made this mistake. If I had not been tracking my deposit I would not have known he committed such a serious mistake. The tax preparer admitted to making the mistake and my taxes were gifted to another person's account on Tuesday the 25th of Feb. This person would received my deposit did not contact the tax preparer until March 3. I was also angry at the fact that my money that I had been waiting on was now somewhere/somehow in someone else's hands. I demanded that the tax preparer return my 200.00 fee that I paid him to complete my taxes and I did receive this refund. I also requested that he issue a check for my taxes as this was his error. He refused. He also reported on March 5 that said person who recv'd my taxes filled out a form at their bank to have my deposits return. But I again asked if he recv'd physical documentation or confirmation from said person's bank if this was done. He did not do either and now I can't trust the tax preparer or this said person that I will have my taxes that are rightfully mine. The tax preparer also reported that he was done with this situation and it was not his problem. I disagree when you entrust someone with your financial matters they are fully responsible for any mistakes. The honorable thing for this preparer to do was to say, Michelle I made a mistake and here is a check for taxes and when you get your taxes back bring the money in. But no, he was not professional or nice about the mess he created for me.Desired Settlement: I want Matt Morris of this agency held accountable and issue a check in the full amount of taxes immediately 992.00. If and when I recv'd my taxes, I will be more than happy to reimburse him. But he is a professional and this is his mess ! I simply cannot wait 30-60 days to see if my taxes will materialize.
