I am responding to Complaint #*** by Mr*** *** on 11/23/
Mr*** had spoke with us by phone previously to dropping off his Dodge DakotaHis complaint was a vibration in the Drive TrainHis odometer at this time read 364 (the first digits do not
read on the vehicle) when we checked the vehicle in and prepared the Repair OrderThe vehicle was dispatched to a Technician who then test drove the vehicle to duplicate the customers concernOnce back at the shop he raised the vehicle and performed an inspection of the vehicleThe following is what was found according to the Service Estimate: The Left Front Wheel Bearing was Noisy and making a Grinding NoiseThe "loose" bearing also has play which is part of the noise concern. The vehicles Rack & Pinion mounting bushings were excessively worn and was allowing the Rack to move back and forth causing play in the steering when driving3. Both the Front and Rear Rotors were very rusty and had pits in them which made noiseThere is also evidence of a possible caliper sticking on the Drivers Side as the Inboard Pad was thinner than the Outboard PadThe Wheel was also hard to spinThe Passenger Side Wheel spun freely although the pads were almost in the same condition as the otherWe also noted the Rear Pinion Seal on the Differential was leaking oilWe also found the Brake Fluid to be "Very Dirty' and needed to be flushedThe vehicle will need an Alignment as well due to the replacement of the Rack & Pinion
Mr*** did come by as he stated and was able to see and feel all of the above stated items. He approved the replacement of the Wheel Bearing, Rack & Pinion, Alignment, and Rear Pinion SealHe did not authorize the replacement of the Front and Rear Brakes as was recommended
When replacing the Pinion Seal we did find the Driveshaft Flange did have a grove worn into it where the Seal rode and needed to be replaced or the New Seal would leak as well
Once we completed the repairs the technician did a Final Test Drive and reported all was good, except he could hear noise coming from the Brakes in the Front Driver Side WheelAt this point the vehicle had miles which meant we had driven the vehicle a total of miles. A day of two later Mr*** did call back saying he had a vibration and ***, the Manager, asked him to bring the vehicle back so we could try to determine the source of the vibrationAt this time Mr*** stated he would not bring the vehicle back and we would never work on it again since, he said, we did not correct the problem
My business offers an excellent warranty, but we cannot correct or resolve any issues without seeing the vehicle. A day later Mr*** called back and said he wanted us to refund the Labor Cost and he would pay for parts onlyHe later stated he would stop payment if we did not refund the Labor portion of the invoice
If Mr*** had accepted our offer to try to determine the source of the vibration we would not be here todayI cannot find any fault with the Service we provided him in this transactionWe have performed the Repairs he authorized and have honored our Warranty Process as we practice it

As I mentioned in my previous letter, we cannot properly diagnose the cause of the vibration without the customer bringing the vehicle back to usI would like to do this in order to identify the vibration Mr*** speaks of All of the items we replaced, with the exception of the rear pinion seal, was contributing to a shaking or vibration in the vehicleThe front brakes which the customer did not choose to replace my be causing the concern as this vehicle, we were told, sits for long periods of timeOnce we see the vehicle again, we will be able to give a better answer of his vibration
A refund of any type as Mr*** is seeking, is out of the question

The following is the response to Certified Transmission ! never was I told about a front Caliber or dirty brake fluid  2. I never was asked to bring the Truck back to them ,I told [redacted] that I would bring it back to have the Owner ride with me and ask [redacted] to have him call me to set up a test drive ( no Phone call returned ). 3 I never said or even implied that I would stop payment on the bill . The bill was paid in full at the time of pickup and is still according to my credit card statement has been paid in full .The fact  still exist is that my truck is not fixed [redacted] never said that it wasn't fixed when I picked it up , that tells me that the manager [redacted]  did not test drive the truck to double check his employees work !!  and paid the bill in good faith I am still asking for my Labor cost back I have no problem paying for parts that were put in my truck The fact is  that the labor they put forth was not to fix the problem with the truck but to replace parts because the tech was wrong in his diagnoses of the problem that the truck was brought to them for .
