To whom it may concern,I have been in the Automotive business on my own for over 10 years here at the same location. I pride myself in running an honest business and treating every customer with respect. Every time I sell a car I have the same paperwork for people to sign I will enclose all the...

paperwork involved with this case in same envelope. When this customer purchased the 2002 [redacted] on 27 May 2015 my standard warranty was 3 months or 4000 miles whichever occurs first on the power train only. I also offer a very good extended warranty that is for 36 months or 48,000 more driving miles that retails for $1458 but I offer it to the customer for $1200. In this case the customer was not interested in the extended warranty. I always offer a customer the extended warranty. The customer mentions that my sign now says 6 month warranty with every purchase. I am having a special (which I reserve the right to do once in a while) when ever I feel like it. That sign was not up on my board when he purchased the [redacted]. When I have the customer sign all the paper work I explain every piece of paper they sign with great detail and have them sign every piece for proof that it was explained to them (as you will see with enclosed papers).I am always honest with people and tell them that the vehicle they are purchasing is in good running condition and I would give it to my wife to drive without any reserve. I also tell people they are buying a used motor vehicle and have them sign the Buyers Guide. I explain everything that is on the buyers guide before they sign it also.As to the customers statement that the mechanic told him that the 3.7 litr 6 cylinder engine in [redacted]s wasn't very durable I take exception to that. Every make and model of car or truck has good ones and bad ones. I don't know how you can make a statement like that. The customer also states that "Don never warn me about the problems the engine could have (but the buyers guide plainly states "below is list of some major defects that may occur in used motor vehicles" and I explain that to the customer before he signs the buyers guide). One of my statements I always tell people when they read and sign the buyers guide is the vehicle might last them 5 years without any problems or being a used motor vehicle, it might blow up next week. That is the standard statement I tell everyone as they are reading the buyers guide. When a person takes delivery of their vehicle I fax the warranty into the warranty company while the customer is sitting here, then I mail warranty papers to the warranty company The warranty ran out on 27 August 2015 or when the vehicle was driven4,000 miles whichever occurred first. I do not know the mileage on the [redacted] when the customer took it to the mechanic but as the old saying goes "it is what it is". I can't help what happens to any vehicle I sell and I can't predict when it will or will not break down. It is unfortunate that this problem occurred after the warranty ran out.I was just made aware of this problem on Friday or Saturday of last week which would have been September 12th or 13th when the customers father stopped in to talk to me about all of this.I am very sorry that this has happened to the customer but I did everything that I am supposed to during the sale and delivery of the [redacted]. I can't predict the future and can't tell when something is going to break on a vehicle.I spoke to the customers father and I told him there was nothing I could do about this situation but I could probably find them a used engine at my cost (customer would have to pay for the engine thou). I didn't hear anything back from them and now have received this letter . I will have to state plainly that at this time there is nothing I can do about the situation, it is just something that happened that was not my fault in any way. I try to be nice to people. At this time I will state for the record that there is nothing I can do and I did everything I could by putting a 3 month warranty on the [redacted] to begin with. This is just an unfortunate situation what is beyond my control.I will not do anything to help the buyer in this case and I will not be compensating the buyer for any engine replacement of any kind and this is the last correspondence I will address.P.S.. I have been in business for myself at this location for over 10 years and have sold well over 600 vehicles and have only ever had a handful of problems like this. I do not expect to hear any more about this.Sincerely,Don Kauffman
