To whom it may concern,On 2/23/ [redacted] brought her [redacted] to us for a free performance checkShe was referred by a local garage because they felt that she had a transmission problemShe was complaining of a jerking feeling and engine RPM's going up and downUpon our road test and an electronic scan of the computer system it was determined that she had an internal transmission failureAt that time we called [redacted] to get her authorization to remove the transmission from the vehicle and do an inspection to see what was wrong internallyWe also told her that if we have to get a transmission from the dealer it would cost approximately $3,She agreed to authorize the inspectionAfter we performed the inspection and found the damage, it was determined that the most cost efficient way to repair the vehicle was to install a [redacted] factory re manufactured transmission purchased directly from the dealer which comes with a month mile warranty on both parts and laborWe also noted at the time that the right front axle boot was ripped, the control arms for the front suspension were loose and she had a small power steering leak (common [redacted] problem)She declined these additional repairs at this time but she did authorize the replacement of the transmissionWe then ordered the transmission and installed it, correcting her original complaintsAfter picking up vehicle she returned next day with a burning smellWe took a look and saw the power steering line was leakipreviously mentionedShe then took the vehicle to another shop who replaced the hoseAll is now good with the hose. After this she returned with a smell againUpon inspection it was determined the right seal in the transfer case (it is an all wheel drive vehicle) was now leaking and causing smokingAlthough we never removed that axle or replaced that seal we agreed to replace it for her in good faith at no charge to herWe also installed an axle that she provided (see ripped axle boot above)After attempts at replacing the seal with three different seals (all at no cost to her), it continued to leakAfter many hours of looking at this problem we determined that there must be a problem inside the transfer case causing this repeated leakingLet me also say that during the seal installation process a bolt broke and we replaced itShe declined the transfer case repair. She then brought the vehicle to another repair facility for another opinionThey determined that the replacement bolt is wrong and needs to be replaced along with another seal for a cost of $I then told [redacted] to have them fix the problem and I will pay them the full amount, even though we don't believe we caused this problem to begin withThe repair facility was to order the parts and repair it for herThat is the last I heard from [redacted] My assumption was that when the repairs were made, we would pay and end this situationAlso note that we provided [redacted] a loner car (although not to her liking) while we attempted to make this repairIn conclusion, the transmission repair we were authorized to perform is complete and working satisfactorilyThe leak she has we agreed to pay for when completed at another facility, even though we didn't create the leakWe feel that although this has been an unfortunate situation, we have done everything we can to help solve this problem, including spending an additional hours of shop time at no cost to her, provided her with a loaner car and agreed to pay for axle seal repairWe feel it is unreasonable for her to request a refund for a transmission repair that is not related to this axle seal leak.If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please don't hesitate to email or call[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:When I brought my car to Dr Nicks, it was for a "free inspection" They were referred to me by another party that does my oil changes frequently I was not having the issues that was stated by Dr Nicks, The car had just over 100,miles and that is low for being almost years old and well maintained After having the car for days, they told me that it could not be fixed It took over days to take the transmission out and said there was a broken part and it could not be fixed nor put back together, which was not true, although I didn't know that at the time I was told that I needed a new transmission I was never shown any broken parts or shown what the problem was I was told by [redacted] that it would be only a couple hundred dollars more for a brand new transmission rather than a used (and they didn't make any money on a new one) and I said ok, not knowing any better Immediately after getting the car back, there was an unbearable burning smell, that was not there before I called the shop was told it was just fluid that needed to "burn off" A week later, I brought it to another mechanic who told me that there was now a [redacted] in the power steering hose due to the work that had just been done, causing the burning smell He put the car on the lift and showed me It was also pointed out to me that the car was not cleaned underneath as I was told it was I called Dr Nicks and was told that it would cost approximately $dollars to fix this problem I refused the work and had the other mechanic (Mild to Wild, [redacted] **) fix the power steering hose for over $lessThere was nothing wrong with my power steering prior to having any work done After having the hose fixed, there was a seal leaking from the transmissionI brought the car back to Dr Nicks and asked him to speak to the other mechanic that fixed the hose, He called [redacted] from Mild to Wild at which time I specifically heard him say "refurbished transmission" I was told prior that it was a brand new one by [redacted] **I asked why he said it was a used transmission and he said "he didn't know, That if his son said it was new than it was" I said but you just said used and I was charged more for a new one rather than a used one I never got an answer to the question, I was brushed off One would think the owner of a shop would know the answer to this simple questionThey had my car for another week and could not fix the problem I was told that there was no charge to me even though they put several hours into trying to fix the problem, trying different seals on it There was also an additional miles on my car which I have no idea where these miles came from t doesn't take miles to test drive a car I asked about the extra miles and was told they had to leave it running on the lift How can you put miles on a car when it is on a lift? I was then told the leak could not be fixed and they wanted ANOTHER $2,+ tax for a new transfer case I couldn't believe it as I had no issues with this car and now I was almost at $5,in repairs I refused the work and asked for my car back.I brought it to a 3rd mechanic who specializes in transmissions He had it on the lift and showed me where the problem was coming from I did not need a new transfer case, I needed a seal and the reason it was still leaking was because the wrong parts and bolts were put on the car DrNicks did not put the correct parts on the car and tried to do a quick fix The new mechanic has ordered the correct parts and it will cost about $250, not $2,as I was told by DrNicks I went back to DrNick's and spoke to [redacted] and explained what I was told I asked to see the paperwork on what parts were ordered for my car and was told no, it "was an inside document" he then called me a lunatic and told me to leaveAfter a further conversation with [redacted] **, He told me that they would pay the other mechanic the $to fix the car Why would they offer to pay the other mechanic? It was because they did not fix the problem and cost me thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs There are no documents stating that I had a leak in my power steering with my signature This was all told to me after the fact and when I asked to see the documents, I was refused I was refused any documents that I asked to see I feel that I was grossly taken advantage of being a woman and having no knowledge about cars When I was told they would pay the other shop to fix THEIR mistake, to me it was an admission that they did not repair the car properly after having it several times I have been dealing with this issue since late February My car is still not fixed because the proper parts are on backorder I can not drive the car on the highway (per the other mechanic) as it could start on fire from the leak on the exhaust getting too hot I have a young child and can not take that kind of risk, which has inconvenienced my life dramatically. It was also mentioned that the car they loaned me "was not to my liking" I appreciated the gesture since this was about the 5th time they had the car without ever offering one before, in the dead of winter having to walk my child to and from school in the harsh elements But, the seat was broken, I could barely reach the pedals, the breaks were grinding and the gas tank empty I had to put gas it in to make the mile drive homeI could barely drive it and felt it was not a safe vehicle for myself and my little girl A "free" inspection has now cost me thousands of dollars and over months of my time.I guess the expression is truenothing is free Sincerely, [redacted]

I'm sorry I didn't fill out the form correctlyYes I do want a refundI stopped payment on my check and now I owe a collection agencyThe reason I reversed the charges on the check is because they caused more than in additional damage to the vehicleThey did not fix the problem, put the wrong parts on the car, did not do things I was told were done and wanted an additional 2,for another part I did not need God forbid this should happen to anyone elseI feel taken advantage of it has been months and the vehicle is not repaired(I brought it to another place) and they have to order the correct parts

To whom it may concern,On 2/23/2015 [redacted] brought her [redacted] to us for a free performance check. She was referred by a local garage because they felt that she had a transmission problem. She was complaining of a jerking feeling and engine RPM's going up and down. Upon our road test and an electronic scan of the computer system it was determined that she had an internal transmission failure. At that time we called [redacted] to get her authorization to remove the transmission from the vehicle and do an inspection to see what was wrong internally. We also told her that if we have to get a transmission from the dealer it would cost approximately $3,900. She agreed to authorize the inspection. After we performed the inspection and found the damage, it was determined that the most cost efficient way to repair the vehicle was to install a [redacted] factory re manufactured transmission purchased directly from the dealer which comes with a 12 month 12.000 mile warranty on both parts and labor. We also noted at the time that the right front axle boot was ripped, the control arms for the front suspension were loose and she had a small power steering leak (common [redacted] problem). She declined these additional repairs at this time but she did authorize the replacement of the transmission. We then ordered the transmission and installed it, correcting her original complaints. After picking up vehicle she returned next day with a burning smell. We took a look and saw the power steering line was leaking-as previously mentioned. She then took the vehicle to another shop who replaced the hose. All is now good with the hose. After this she returned with a smell again. Upon inspection it was determined the right seal in the transfer case (it is an all wheel drive vehicle) was now leaking and causing smoking. Although we never removed that axle or replaced that seal we agreed to replace it for her in good faith at no charge to her. We also installed an axle that she provided (see ripped axle boot above). After 3 attempts at replacing the seal with three different seals (all at no cost to her), it continued to leak. After many hours of looking at this problem we determined that there must be a problem inside the transfer case causing this repeated leaking. Let me also say that during the seal installation process a bolt broke and we replaced it. She declined the transfer case repair. She then brought the vehicle to another repair facility for another opinion. They determined that the replacement bolt is wrong and needs to be replaced along with another seal for a cost of $215. I then told [redacted] to have them fix the problem and I will pay them the full amount, even though we don't believe we caused this problem to begin with. The repair facility was to order the parts and repair it for her. That is the last I heard from [redacted]. My assumption was that when the repairs were made, we would pay and end this situation. Also note that we provided [redacted] a loner car (although not to her liking) while we attempted to make this repair. In conclusion, the transmission repair we were authorized to perform is complete and working satisfactorily. The leak she has we agreed to pay for when completed at another facility, even though we didn't create the leak. We feel that although this has been an unfortunate situation, we have done everything we can to help solve this problem, including spending an additional 8 hours of shop time at no cost to her, provided her with a loaner car and agreed to pay for axle seal repair. We feel it is unreasonable for her to request a refund for a transmission repair that is not related to this axle seal leak.If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please don't hesitate to email or call.[redacted]

I'm sorry I didn't fill out the form correctly. Yes I do want a refund. I stopped payment on my check and now I owe a collection agency. The reason I reversed the charges on the check is because they caused more than 600 in additional damage to the vehicle. They did not fix the problem, put the...

wrong parts on the car, did not do things I was told were done  and wanted an additional 2,300 for another part I did not need.  God forbid this should happen to anyone else. I feel taken advantage of   it has been 3 months and the vehicle is not repaired. (I brought it to another place) and they have to order the correct parts.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:When I brought my car to Dr Nicks, it was for a "free inspection".  They were referred to me by another party that does my oil changes frequently.  I was not having the issues that was stated by Dr Nicks, The car had just over 100,000 miles and that is low for being almost 10 years old and well maintained.  After having the car for days, they told me that it could not be fixed.  It took over 2 days to take the transmission out and said there was a broken part and it could not be fixed nor put back together, which was not true, although I didn't know that at the time.  I was told that I needed a new transmission.  I was never shown any broken parts or shown what the problem was.  I was told by [redacted] that it would be only a couple hundred dollars more for a brand new transmission rather than a used (and they didn't make any money on a new one) and I said ok, not knowing any better.  Immediately after getting the car back, there was an unbearable burning smell, that was not there before.  I called the shop was told it was just fluid that needed to "burn off".  A week later, I brought it to another mechanic who told me that there was now a [redacted] in the power steering hose due to the work that had just been done, causing the burning smell.  He put the car on the lift and showed me.  It was also pointed out to me that the car was not cleaned underneath as I was told it was.  I called Dr Nicks and was told that it would cost approximately $500 dollars to fix this problem.  I refused the work and had the other mechanic (Mild to Wild, [redacted]) fix the power steering hose for over $100 less. There was nothing wrong with my power steering prior to having any work done.  After having the hose fixed, there was a seal leaking from the transmission. I brought the car back to Dr Nicks and asked him to speak to the other mechanic that fixed the hose, He called [redacted] from Mild to Wild at which time I specifically heard him say "refurbished transmission".  I was told prior that it was a brand new one by [redacted]. I asked why he said it was a used transmission and he said "he didn't know, That if his son said it was new than it was"  I said but you just said used and I was charged more for a new one rather than a used one.  I never got an answer to the question, I was brushed off.  One would think the owner of a shop would know the answer to this simple question. They had my car for another week and could not fix the problem.  I was told that there was no charge to me even though they put several hours into trying to fix the problem, trying 3 different seals on it.  There was also an additional 300 miles on my car which I have no idea where these miles came from.  t doesn't take 300 miles to test drive a car.  I asked about the extra miles and was told they had to leave it running on the lift.  How can you put 300 miles on a car when it is on a lift? I was then told the leak could not be fixed and they wanted ANOTHER $2,300 + tax for a new transfer case.  I couldn't believe it as I had no issues with this car and now I was almost at $5,000 in repairs.  I refused the work and asked for my car back.I brought it to a 3rd mechanic who specializes in transmissions.  He had it on the lift and showed me where the problem was coming from.  I did not need a new transfer case, I needed a seal and the reason it was still leaking was because the wrong parts and bolts were put on the car.  Dr. Nicks did not put the correct parts on the car and tried to do a quick fix.  The new mechanic has ordered the correct parts and it will cost about $250, not $2,300 as I was told by Dr. Nicks.   I went back to Dr. Nick's and spoke to [redacted] and explained what I was told.  I asked to see the paperwork on what parts were ordered for my car and was told no, it "was an inside document" he then called me a lunatic and told me to leave. After a further conversation with [redacted], He told me that they would pay the other mechanic the $250 to fix the car.  Why would they offer to pay the other mechanic?  It was because they did not fix the problem and cost me thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs.  There are no documents stating that I had a leak in my power steering with my signature.  This was all told to me after the fact and when I asked to see the documents, I was refused.  I was refused any documents that I asked to see.  I feel that I was grossly taken advantage of being a woman and having no knowledge about cars.  When I was told they would pay the other shop to fix THEIR mistake, to me it was an admission that they did not repair the car properly after having it several times.  I have been dealing with this issue since late February.  My car is still not fixed because the proper parts are on backorder.  I can not drive the car on the highway (per the other mechanic) as it could start on fire from the leak on the exhaust getting too hot.  I have a young child and can not take that kind of risk, which has inconvenienced my life dramatically. It was also mentioned that the car they loaned me "was not to my liking".  I appreciated the gesture since this was about the 5th time they had the car without ever offering one before, in the dead of winter having to walk my child to and from school in the harsh elements.  But, the seat was broken, I could barely reach the pedals, the breaks were grinding and the gas tank empty.  I had to put gas it in to make the 2 mile drive home. I could barely drive it and felt it was not a safe vehicle for myself and my little girl.  A "free" inspection has now cost me thousands of dollars and over 3 months of my time.I guess the expression is true... nothing is free.

Revdex.com,[redacted] had her [redacted] towed into our shop on or about 6/5/15 with a noise. The vehicle did not start and had to be jump started to diagnose the noise. After jump starting the vehicle, scanning the computer for codes and lift checking the vehicle it was determined that there was a noise coming...

from inside the engine, unrelated to the head gasket work we had performed over 2 years earlier. At this point we recommended to her to replace the engine completely with either a remanufactured engine or a low mileage used engine. She declined to have the repairs performed. We feel that we are entitled to charge 1 hour labor to diagnose, jump start, scan the computer and lift check the vehicle. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance in this matter.Regards,[redacted]PresidentDr. Nicks Transmissions and Complete Auto Care
