This update is in regards to Case ID# [redacted] [redacted] This case was given to our VP of Fixed Operations who reviewed it with the Service Manager of our Don's Ford location, as well as our Ford Corporation representative.An attached document details the initial report from Don's Ford, as well as the following responses from the Ford Corporation regarding the recall work and the customer's request for assistanceAs seen in the attached report, the Ford rep states, " We are unable to provide approval for the repair since the program is closedCustomer can contact customer assistance at ###-###-####."Please let me know if you have any further questions.Thank you!Justina C***Administrative AssistantCarbone Auto Group###-###-####

When I brought my truck in I was having issues off and on with the power steering, so when the recall came I brought the truck inthey did the reset of the comp because that is all the manager read on the recallnot week later I was still having the same issues I would loose the power steering every once in awhilei called back and told the manager this and he said bring it back in and we will check iti had a apt but couldnt make the apt because my mother in law passed awayso after all that was over the first day I drove my truck I completely lost my power steeringthey said when I first brought it in there were no codes on the comp for it so that is why they just reset the compi had to tell the manager about the whole recall he had no idea all that was on itthey said because the first time I brought it in they reset the comp the recall is now closedjust because they messed up on the recall doesnt mean I should have to pay for it! I also just heard that someone after me brought theirs in last week for the same recall she had her comp reset also, but after picking up her truck as she was leaving Dons ford she lost her power steering like it didthey paid to replace her module on her truckwhat difference was it with her? that she didnt get far? SUMMARY:Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2008-Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner vehicles manufactured August 18, 2006, through September 11, The affected vehicles have a steering torque sensor that may not be able to properly detect driver steering inputAs a result, the system could remove the Electric Power Steering (EPS) assist.CONSEQUENCE:If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.REMEDY:Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power steering control module (PSCM) and the instrument cluster module, free of chargeIf a vehicle shows a history of a loss of the torque sensor signal or fault codes relating to the PSCM when the vehicle is brought in for the recall remedy, the affected components will be replaced, free of chargeThe recall began on July 18, Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-Ford's number for this recall is 14S
