Don's Painting and Handyman Service have made several trips out to the McLean homeDon went there and installed three exterior doorsHe told me that when he got there he wanted to just turn around and leaveHe said it was a very old farm
house and that it was going to be extremely difficult to complete these doorsThe first problem was the house was out of level and plumbAs he started working on the first door (garage service door) it was worse than he thoughtNot only was the house all twisted up, but the siding was extremely old and falling apartThis was the old fiber board that is no longer made because of the very problems Don was dealing withDon had to loosen up that siding and try to install new doorsBut just trying to pull it back it just crumbled in his handsAfter trying to be as careful as he could, he told *** McLean about the problem*** told him to not to worry about thatThey were going to be residing later this year any waysDon was convinced that it was ok So he decided that he would go ahead with the doorsHe originally was talking to *** about not doing the job at all with all the problems with the houseHe was there to install doors for $It should only take one day to completeIn the process, the siding just crumbled in his handsThere was no structural integrity in the siding around the doors at all*** told Don to put the siding back onBut that could not be accomplished because there were no pieces that could be put back upOn the back door of the house the siding was in a little better shape except for the piece under the thresholdIt fell apart and crumbled just like the garage service door described aboveThe biggest problem with this door was the tiling up to the inside of the door was installed wrong and not to codeThe only way the door could be taken out was to pop the tileIt was very weak in that area and two pieces broke that were grouted into the thresholdWhen *** called me about the problems, I said I would come out and see what could be doneI was told it was one type of tile so I brought what would be neededWell it was not that type of tile and what I brought was uselessIn the complaint *** said I came not prepared to do the jobThat was a mute point because I went to the local hardware and purchased and rented what I neededI fixed the tileBut again with what was there to work about, the job would not be a fixEven though the broken tile was a original installation problem, I fixed it for no chargeOne other problem came up with the tileAnd it was a point of contentionAfter I was done with the tile, while I was working on the siding, there dog (large lab) came running up to the door to go outsideBut she hit the breaks when she saw me out thereShe slid right up to the threshold and pushed out the fixed tile and most of the groutSince it had been curing for a while the grout was not reusableAnd the dog ran off with it all over its pawsI had no more grout all I could do was try and smooth it overThe next item to be looked at was the siding around the garage service door*** had bought some baby blue vinyl sidingI used that and repaired around the doorI told him before hand that it will only be a patch job, but I will try and make it look decentHe told me that it looked good when I was done and said they were going to r-side soonDoug had to leave for Brainerd before I was doneHis Mother and brother were still thereWhen I was finished and packed up to go the Mom and brother came up to me and thanked me for the work; and tried to give me a tipI cheerfully refuseBut they kept on tryingSo I said thank you and left*** wants $refunded on a job that cost him $That does not seem like an reasonable complaint but more like extortionEspecially when he kept calling me with threats of a formal complaint and ruining our business

No I do not accept this responseDon's painting and handyman serviceAccepted this jobA old house has nothing to do with Don doing very poor workDon should be embarrassed in the quality of his workIf the Job was to hard for Don he should have walked awayBut he didn'tHe accepted the jobYes the house is oldthat's why we were replacing the doorsI did not hire them to do A Patch jobI hired Don for A complete serviceI want this story to be publicSo this company doesn't do this kind of thing to anyone elseDon had some SERIOUS MENTAL ISSUES Don was swearing the whole timeDon would kick things in my house when something went wrongDon stole supplies that I purchased for the jobThe last time Don was at my house Don pulled a knife out and threatened my lifeI would strongly recommend to never hiring Don's painting and handyman service for any workThe owner of This company is the one who pulled up the tileDon said himself the tile looks so badThat he was embarrassed in Daryl's workDon said, Daryle did the tile all wrongAnd that he used the wrong materials and groutDon and Daryle did not have any of the correct suppliesFor this jobThe first time Don was at my house he did not even bring a hammerMy dog is a very well trained back labThe dog had nothing to do with Daryle Doing poor quality workMy Calling Daryle trying to get a response On crazy Donwas not ruining his businessDon Is ruining his own Business with his poor carpentry skillsDons bad attitude and his complete disrespectfulness to others property
Refund
I would like to see the money I paid this companyReturned to meFor the unfinished jobsAnd suppliesThat I had to purchase to fix Don's mistakesFor the tile from the floorAnd the siding on the houseThey were paid to do a jobAnd he failed to complete the job correctlyIf not refunded I would like to see them send out a contractorNOT DON OR DARYLESome one that knows how to do this job correctlyLABOR- $SUPPLIES- $TOTAL OF-
Over allDon's Painting and Handyman Service is a company Of crooksNot only were they unprepared for the jobI had it set up with his assistant Daryle for the payment to be on a Visa cardHowever When it came down to the paymentDon demanded cash onlySo there would be no record of the jobSo he could keep it off the books for taxesAnd hide the money from Darylevery shady company!!! I hope no one ever gets tread the way I did from Don's Painting and Handyman Service
