Re: Case # ***
This patient was seen for a dental implant consultation on June 11, This was not a postoperative exam as the patient states in her complaintThis appointment was scheduled for an evaluation
and discussion of treatment options related to reconstruction of her lower dentition, and was scheduled as such, reserving one hour with the doctorThis appointment was strictly a consultation for dental implants and evaluation for treatmentThis always requires a radiographIn this case, a C.TscanIn fact, the last surgery this patient had in our office was completed on January 29, 2015, with her post- operative exam taking place on February 5, Our procedural protocol does include provideing patients with the cost of treatment (which was acknowledged in this patient's complaint pertaining to her previous treatments), which we believe we also provided this time, but may not haveThis is an isolated incident, which in this case may have been an oversightThis patient did have every opportunity to ask about costs before x-rays were completed
In fact, on three previous treatment sessions, 8/06/2013, 3/18/and 1/29/2015, we provided for this patient, all included an exam consultation with a feeTwo of the three also included radiographs with a feeThe third session an x-rays was provided from the referring office
In July, this patient did call the office to voice her concernThe office manager apologized when the patient said she thought the visit was no chargeAt no time was the appointment and x-ray provided on June 11, 2015, ever implied or said to be at no charge by our officeThe office manager offered to adjust the fee for services into one of the treatment plans that the doctor worked up when reviewing the C.Tscan but the patient said she was not going to get any of the treatment done, as she had no moneyShe was told that she could take her time paying her bill and make paymentsAt the end of the conversation, the patient said she would make payments but it could be awhileOur office at this time thought we had resolved the issuePresently, payment has never been receivedThe patient has received two statements generated by our billing system, but no other attempt has been made to collect the fee
It was very surprising and shocking to our office that we received this complaint, and that services were assumed to be at no chargeThe doctor is a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with advanced training in surgical techniques and treatment planning, remaining current in the specialty through continuing educationThe commodity our business provides is the information, advise, expertise, as well as the surgeries, that the doctor provides his patientsTo assume the services provided by our office are free of charge is akin to seeing a medical doctor and not paying for services
As are part to resolve this matter we are willing to discount the fee by 50%, reducing the fee from $to $
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will pay the $But I am not at all happy with this outcomeAs I said before the $was a complete surprise to meEach and every time that I saw this doctor, I was advised of how much I owed and paid it on the spot, so when I had my last appointment with the doctor and I was not charged, what else was I to thinkAs a matter of fact I believe I usually approved all costs before they were preformedI will remit a check on 9/28/
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/10/05) */
With receipt of a check for $as outlined in our response for resolution of this account, we consider your account in our office paid-in-full and closed, and that this complaint is resolved
