Donald R. Tanenbaum, DDS MPH Reviews (%countItem)

Mr. T, who is a dentist, examined me on 1/***20. My complaint against him is as follows:

1. While T was taking an oral history of my complaint, someone walked into the office where we were and gave him a copy of a book he had written, for an autograph. He did not just sign his name, but kept writing, and writing, and writing, etc. The person who gave him the book remained in the room while he signed the book, thus hearing me discuss my dental issues. A clear breach of the HIPAA laws. This is absolutely unethical and unprofessional since it took away time from MY examination, for which they charged me $875.00. Basically, I paid him to sign a book!

2. Later, I was asking T a question. He was not in front of me so I assumed he was behind me, listening. I heard a rustling noise that caused me to turn around to see what was happening. I discovered that T had left the room - WHILE I WAS STILL ASKING MY QUESTION. At NO point did he indicate that the examination was over or that he was leaving the room. He simply left to confer with the man who handles their computer systems. AGAIN, this is extremely unethical and unprofessional. I had more questions to ask, but was given NO opportunity to do so, since T was now discussing his office's computers in another room.

3. On his website, he states: '...We have relationships with several financing mechanisms...to assist you.' At NO point were these 'financing mechanisms' (whatever they are!) EVER discussed with me. Either this is neglect for not discussing this with me (does he think everyone can afford $800.00 for just the initial consultation?!), OR the 'mechanisms' no longer exist, in which case this is false advertising.

4. Among the questions I wanted to ask him were whether I needed antibiotics before the required root canal procedure, and if he could proscribe a non-opioid, prescription pain medication. I could not ask him these (and other) questions, since, as noted in item #2, he had already left the room.
