Donation Station Reviews (6)

I made contact with the DMV investigator and being that the place donation station is licensed to sell junk to anyone without repercussions it is up to me to file a civil suit on the matter. So that is what I am going to do and will sue them with hopes of putting the crocks out of business and...

shutting them down. From the conversation He said I had a case and will most likely can win once I get a statement from the mechanic stating that it is impossible for the work to been done that the sales persons from the Donation Station had indicated had been done and in fact hadn't been done to the pickup. Please feel free to pass this email on to the Donation Station.Thank you     Drop my case I sold the pickup and took a 500.00 lose just so I could make repairs on the car I already had. Thank you for your time

Review: I bought a boat from the DS. The boat was not as they represented it. I was Riped Off.The boat was rigged to run for a short time , to hide damage.

To Revdex.com

I called the DS responding to an add for a boat for sale Friday 8-2-13,after speaking to [redacted] for a while about the boat and how it was ready for the lake. [redacted] stated many times that the boat was in perfect running condition and told me of many repairs that they had done, and had done by other shops. My son and I than drove to the Donation Station 6362 Blacktop Rd. Rio Linda Ca. 95673 to see the boat Monday 8-5-13. I was met by [redacted] and [redacted],and they told me how the boat was in perfect running order and that the engine had been repaired under their care along with many other parts rebuilt or replaced.[redacted] went back inside, [redacted] began showing me the boat getting it set up to start the engine answering my many questions about the boat and the repairs they said they had done.[redacted] told me that they had the heads redone along with the exhaust because the engine had water in it when they got it.He told me that after redoing the heads he realized that it was the exhaust manifolds that was the problem so they were fixed as well.I got into the boat with [redacted] to inspect the engine and interior of the boat.I pulled the oil dip stick out to see if it was new and make sure there was no water in the oil it looked good.[redacted] started the boat to show me that it was all working the engine sounded ok and other mentioned repairs were functioning I so I believed him about the engine repairs he said he had done even though there is no way to tell if it was true with out seeing the heads and exhaust repaired while it was being done.[redacted] introduced me to his mechanic at this time and went inside.I dont remember his name so I will call him "M".M confirmed that the repairs mentioned had been done.M and we talked about the repairs and the boat for at least 40 minutes. At that time [redacted] came out and I asked who to talk to about making an offer to buy the boat.[redacted] said come in and talk to [redacted].I offered 1,500.00 [redacted] accepted my offer that I now know to be 1,500.00 to much for this rigged boat and fraudulent sale. The boat was donated to the DS and was still in the doners name [redacted] and I filled out paper work for the title transfer for DMV and a bill of sale all paper work is still in the doners name the DS did not transfer into their name.I gave 1,500.00 cash to [redacted],she gave me the pink slip and other paperwork.I hooked up the boat and took it home.On Thursday 8-8-13 I met up with my Mom, Dad,son, brother [redacted] his wife and 4 kids at Rollins Lake for our camping and boating trip.Friday 8-9-13 my Dad,brother, son, and niece.took the boat on the water for the first time. The boat began smoking with in 5 minutes the temp guage was only at 160 dg.a normal temp. I found that the driver side exhaust hose was burning and smoking.I called the DS and spoke to [redacted] telling her the boat did't last 5 mins she went to get [redacted] he told her to tell me he was under a car and he would call me back.He still has not called to date X-XX-XX even though I have called many times with no answer and have left messages to let them know I want my money back and that im not happy with being deceived.I took the boat back to camp site and started looking for water blockage to the exhaust as there is no other reason for only one side hot the other not.I found a rubber ball had been pushed in to the hose going from the thermostat to exhaust to stop water from going into the system because it was not repaired like it was said to b,and allows water into the engine.I would have noticed this problem when I examined the boat on 8-2-13 and would not have bought the boat.I saved for some time to get a boat and was lied to and had 1,500.00 stolen from me.The repairs needed would cost more than double what I paid for the boat that the DS fraudulently, dishonestly, and made deceptive alters to the cooling system so the damage was not noticed!! I want my 1,500.00 dollars back!!!! Boat 1978 Caravelle Hull# CNHXXXXXM78H CF# [redacted]

From [redacted] Desired Settlement: I want the $1,500.00 dollars returned in cash the same way I paid for the boat.I spent an additional $250.00 dollars for fuel camping and boat entry fees.A rear boat light mounting plug in and speedometer attachment for the boat.Fabric, foam, and plywood to replace missing seat cushions in the bow area of the boat.I also spent a lot of time and money for water ski's,tow ropes,3 seat tube for tubing, life jackets, and flags for the boat, not to mention being stranded for over an hour with kids scared and having to be towed back to the boat dock very upset and stressed, about the all the months I had been struggling to save enough money to buy a boat, just to be taken advantage of,and robbed so deceptively! I just want the $1,500.00 cash back that I paid for the boat.I would like to find a boat that I will be able to use before the summer is gone.

Business' Initial Response

When Mr. [redacted] arrived at our location the first thing I said to him before he even saw the boat, was a very explicit disclaimer--"I know VERY little about boats and this one was quite a learning experience!"

I proceeded to tell him the problems we had discovered with the boat and the repairs that were made by an outside source. He was given copies of all receipts for the work that was actually done. I told him that we never take boats that we sell out on the water for liability sake and that he would be buying it AS-IS.

I did however, connect the boat to a water supply and let him start the boat and thoroughly check it out to his best ability. We always allow our buyers to have their own mechanic present to perform any and all tests they desire. Based on some of his statements, it was clear to me that he knew little about boats in general, so I went out of my way to have a service assistant of mine instruct him on proper procedures. We have no way of knowing if he adhered to them (which has the potential for causing damage!)

Before the sale, Mr. [redacted] noticed something we hadn't seen regarding the need for possible future repairs, and we discounted the boat $375 to accommodate this. I gave him the business card of the boat repair service that we used on this boat and many others. As a final note, the boat ran for over 45 minutes at our location on more than one occasion and had no apparent cooling problems. We cannot know what he did to the boat, and his mention of a "rubber ball" pushed into a hose makes no sense. We spent over $1500 repairing the boat and would have no reason to "rig" it. We couldn't have been more honest and forthcoming about what we knew about the boat. We continued to get many calls for the boat after his purchase, and believe he paid a fair price. We estimated that the boat was worth over $3000 in perfect condition. We offer no refunds after the title has been handed to the purchaser and the customer has taken possession. We are sorry for his inconvenience, but often times that is the nature of older boats, especially ones that are over 35 years old.

Review: My Complaint is that Donation Station sold me car in which they marketed as a "Runs great, smog certified and clean title". When I went to Donation Station to check out the Range Rover and to test drive it I was told by the guy that they "under priced this vehicle" and I was getting a good deal for a class 40th anniversary truck with low miles and this and this and this has been replaced. I test drove on my lunch break and as I come back there is 3 people wait to see the Range Rover. I felt that I was a little pressured into buying the truck on the spot without doing a more thorough look on what I was buying for $2275. The guy told me that to register the truck would be $97 but instead I paid $220 to register the vehicle. Now for the real reason why I'm making a complaint. I bought the Range Rover and had to leave it there to pick up after I get off work with my uncle. So after I get off work and meet my uncle to get the truck, I let my uncle test drive the Range Rover. Not even leaving the premises 300 yards the truck dies and we are stuck and can't believe that this truck that "runs good" and "this and this and this" has been replace it dies 300 yards from Donation Station. I call the gentleman that sold me the vehicle and he has not a clue as to why it died on my "maybe its out of gas" (it had a 1/4 of tank) or "maybe the fuel pump relay is out" other than those suggestions he shows no concern as to help me get this vehicle running. I went to the gas station to get gas because I though maybe it did run out and putting gas in the truck didn't help. After looking under the hood for a while and trying to find out whats wrong my uncle gets its to start up. Since that incidence this truck has died twice on my one in which it died on my way from work and had to get it towed from a busy street. I wanted this Range Rover because we were in need of a family vehicle and Donation Station falsely sold me a truck that I feel was temporary fixed. [redacted] ###-###-####Desired Settlement: I would like Donation Station to have there mechanic fix this vehicle with a more thorough inspection of refund me my money. Thanks,[redacted]

Response:

All our vehicles are sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied, this fact was explained and shown to the buyer. It is also our practice to comment on any repairs done to the vehicles we sell. We are sorry Mr. [redacted]s felt pressured, certainly not by us, by rather by the other buyers waiting in line to purchase the vehicle. (Mr. [redacted]s had beat out the others by just a few minutes) One of the potential buyers even handed Mr. [redacted]s a business card and told him to please call him if he was unhappy with the Range Rover in any way, as he was a collector and was willing to pay even more than our advertised price. As far as the $97 registration fee, Mr [redacted]s has failed to mention the sales tax that brought the figure up to $220. Mr. [redacted]s took the vehicle on a lengthy test drive and was satisfied with purchasing it. Based upon his statements during our phone conversation, and his statement in this complaint, and lack of any further communication, we believe he subsequently ran it out of gas and it took some priming to start again. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Review: My complaint is:

On November, 5th, 2015 I bought a 1987 Ford F-150 from Donation Station for the amount of $1300.00. At the time of sales persons (husband & wife team unsure of their names) indicated that the pickup had a brand new clutch installed. When I drove it home it seemed to run fine. The next time I drove it was to work on Nov. 7th is when I began to have issue with the shifting. It became very difficult to shift gears to the point of almost not being able to switch gears and it would not even go into reverse (this is a manual shift transmission).

I called and made contact with one of the sales persons (the husband) he did recall the sale and he made to me. I explained the issue I was having with the pickup and was asking if the transmission work was under warranty being that it was a new clutch as he told me it had. He explained the AS IS policy he had on the pickup and said he didn’t know where the mechanic was that did the work on the pickup or even knew how to find the mechanic (said he just disappeared). I explained to him I would be contacting the Revdex.com in regards to this issue and he said if that was the route I need to take then go ahead.

After missing work and losing jobs (I’m self-employed) I had a friend who does mechanic work look at it. After close inspection we noticed that the transmission had never been taken out to do the clutch work. There were no tool marks on any of the bolts holding the transmission and all of the bolts had old grease and dirt on them leaving me with doubt that the clutch has even been replaced as the sales persons both said took place. Therefore, they made false representation of the pickup that they sold me.Desired Settlement: My resolve would be to return the pickup back to Donation Station for full refund of the $1300.00 plus the $220.00 DMV fees I paid when I bought the pickup total being $1520.00. I would also ask that you would consider 1 week lost wages to be paid do to the work I wasn’t able to get to and that amount would be $25.00 per hour for minimum 40 hours for a total of $1000.00. That amount is very low to what I would have made if I had been able to make it to the jobs to secure the other jobs I would have gotten.

I am still not able to drive the pickup without the issue with the shifting and can’t go to work at this time so I also ask that you please expedite this matter so that I can replace the pickup that will get me to my jobs.

Thank you,

Consumer
