this group of people are running a scam, illegally towing peoples cars by watching as they are still customers of that same business, this is called (predatory towing) is a major problem in the city they are towing illegally and charging unauthorized fees. Assemblyman [redacted] has been working with the Legal Aid Society and the city Department of Consumer Affairs to stop these companys from victimizing drivers.
Threatening to charge car owners at least $150-$270 to $500 after towing their cars to the storage lot. While it is a bluff it makes it easier to get cash on the spot from the car owner for immediate release of their car.
Not reporting the tow to the police precint. This is required by city council law.
Not actually towing a car to the storage yard. Also required by law. Towers are not allowed to release cars on public streets (outside the parking lot). Release inside the parking lot is allowed for $64.50 + tax. Release at the storage yard is allowed for $136 + storage charges (if over three days) + tax.
Of course overcharging and not accepting credit cards for any transaction are also against the law.
These are just a few of the illegal things that the tow company is doing ......
please report this company to your local police precint and file a complaint with consumer affairs, and small claims court as they are being investigated and will eventually be taken to court and ordered to pay for there scams

Review: Predatory business practice. Waiting for customer to enter business and immediatelyhooking up car to tow truck demanding cash only for release. State law requirestow trucks to enter private lots only when business owners complain and since vehicle is still in parking lot half the tow amount should be collected. In this case 65$ insteadof the full 125$ plus tax.Desired Settlement: 65$ should be returned plus tax.

Predatory business practice. Waiting for customer to enter business and immediately hooking up car to tow truck demanding cash only for release. State law requires tow trucks to enter private lots only when business owners complain and since vehicle is still in parking lot half the tow amount should be collected. Additionally, driver refused to take cred it card. Had to pay $140 to release my car. Price should of be $65

Review: A predatory tow was performed on my vehicle Tuesday October [redacted] 2015, while Iwent to Olive Garden and physical therapy.I returned to my vehicle to retrieve an item,I noticed that my car was hooked up to a tow truck. The tow fee was $136.09 to have my vehicle released on the spot. The tow truck was not on motion and I asked if I could park else where so as not to be in violation. The response was "no" and that I had to pay right there on the spot.I paid it and got my car back. This seems to be a scam where they have someone sits in a car and watch the lot then call the tow operator to tow unsuspecting patrons. They are probably getting kick-backs and bonuses for every car they tow. This seems very predatory.Desired Settlement: Stop predatory towing by this company and other similar companies in New York State.Consumers should be accorded this protection.

Review: I had pulled into the parking lot of the olive garden I had my girlfriend go in and see if there was a line, she had come back out and said that there in fact was no line and purchased a bottle of there dressing saying she got it now because we always forget when we leave, especially if we have some wine. We then went across the street to return time warner cable box a simple walk in and walk out, we walked back across the street and my gf asked to put her purse in the car so we walked to parking lot real quick and my car was gone. apparently they had watched us walk across the street and immediately towed our car. are you kidding me????

I explained the situation, and the guy lied saying we brought it in already (only 5 minutes have gone by, it simply isn't possible) he said the cost will be $275 total. two different types of tows listed which is complete bt.

secondly on this slip there is no reason for towing listed, the guy refused to accept credit cards which is illegal, and the entire thing is ridicules no one complained they illegally towed my car!!!

also this was 4PM on a Wednesday there was no congestion or confusion, and we were customers of the olive garden telling them we will be taking a seat after we run across the street, they said okay and they are the owners of the parking lot!Desired Settlement: I want my $275 that was illegally stolen from me!
