To whom it may concern,I am writing in response to a complaint with ID #*** received by *** *** concerning her dental restoration fee.My office discontinued the use of amalgam mercury fillings in January Not only has it become obsolete, but patients simply no longer wanted silver
fillings regardless of the costIt was not cost effective to stock both types of filling material with expiration datesIn 2008, most countries outside the US discontinued amalgam use and in 2011, less than 50% of US dental offices were still using itToday, over 90% of dental offices exclusively use white fillings per a nationwide dental supplierI do what feel is best for my patients, not what the insurance companies feel is best.st is considered illegal by most states and unethical by the American Dental Association to charge different fees to patients whether they have dental insurance or notAs a participating provider, it is considered insurance fraud to "write off any amount dictated by insurance as the patients share or service not covered, insurance companies have hundreds of plansThough we try our best to estimate the patients' copay, it is not always possibleThe patient is always told it is an estimate and insurance may or may not cover the procedure, even with preauthorizationTo date, just about every insurance company reimburses for white fillings*** and her co-workers need to address this problem with their HR department on their insurance plan as this is not our responsibility.Enclosed, please find the office financial policy signed and dated by Ms ***Our dental computer program does not have the capability to send out portions of balances on statementsAny patient who receives a statement has the total amount dueCopays are due at the time of service, so when statements are printed that are over days, a PAST DUE is attached to it.The first year we discontinued the mercury amalgam restorations, we included a notice for patients to sign with any updatesSince white fillings are the dentistry of today in this dental field, we provide what is best for our patientsDespite Ms ***'s "argument" to pay $per month for services rendered in March 2016, she has not made one out-of-pocket payment to date, nor has she even paid her estimated copay at the time of services.I am willing to negotiate a discount within the legal insurance guidelines due to fact that she did not question materials we were using nor did we discuss them, However, due to insurance laws, it is insurance fraud to write off her balance in total, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely,Donna w*** C***, DMDDWC/dlu

I am rejecting this response because:I am willing to pay half of the bill - $305 as I feel that at least half of the responsibility lies with the provider. I will not address the specific things that I am rejecting at this time in regards to their response. I would like to negotiate a reasonable outcome.

To whom it may concern;I am writing in response to complaint #ID[redacted]. The patient has offered payment of $305.00 for her $610.00 balance. I will accept her offer of $305.00 as payment in full. Due to the fact that the patient did not pay her copay (regardless of filling type) at the time of service as is our office policy, nor did she attempt to make $100 payment as she had agreed to, this balance is almost 6 months past due. request the $305.00 be remitted in full within 30 days.Sincerely,Donna W[redacted], DMDDWC/dlu
