May 2018: Employee of *** Arborists (DA) met me at my house to provide estimate to treat ash trees for lilac ash borers. This also resulted in an estimate for deep root fertilizing. In followup emails, I indicated I planned to pursue fertilization in fall and borer treatment in spring.
Oct 25, 2018 (Thursday): Received voice message from DA saying they would be in my area the following day, saying they would like to do the fertilization. They indicated I did not need to be present and that I could call to reschedule.
Despite not having confirmation from me that I was willing and available, they presumably performed the work (i have no way to verify that the work was actually completed) and subsequently billed me.

First of all let me say that I'm sorry your experience with my company was anything less than great. We work really hard to make our customers happy.
We had confirmation from you that you wanted to do the Fall Fertilizing of your 3 Ash trees. We have emails from you confirming this. Rebecca from our office said in an email that she would call you before we came out to do the service. You replied "Sounds good." She did call you and left a voicemail stating that we would be out the following day to perform this service. You admitted to me you received the voicemail but you never called to say "I changed my mind" or " I'm not going to be home and I would prefer to be home when you come out to do this." You had the opportunity to do this but did not. Everything we said through emails was correct and it was exactly how we operated.
It seems like you have had bad experiences with contractors in the past. Again, I'm sorry you have had those experiences. You stated that you did not trust that we actually did the work. I can 100% honestly say the work was done. I need to make money to run this business and to live. But what is most important to me is building relationships with my customers and taking care of their trees. That is what I take pride in.
I will void the invoice and we can go our separate ways.

Donovan Arborists came out to trim about 8 trees in our front and back yard, and remove a dead tree. They provided a timely and reasonable quote, were easy and responsive to schedule the work, and the crew arrived on time and did a wonderful job. The yard was clean and we were able to pay by credit card on the spot using an app. We'll happily use them again the next time our trees need work.
