I would like to report a response from Don's Topsoil of [redacted] PA to my complaint of 9/8/14.   The owner came to see me regarding my complaint about the quality of the topsoil, which was more like landfill, that his son had delivered to me on August 21. 
 
He was surprised to see the amount of stone that was in it which I had saved after screening the dirt.  He said he wanted me to be a happy customer and asked how he could make that happen.  After explaining that I had spent about 6 hrs. a day since delivery screening the 10 yards of dirt he offered me $50 consolation "prize".
 
I accepted that because of his apology for the quality of product but let him know it did not make up for the cost of my time in screening.  I have come to understand that what I paid was not an unusual price for stoned dirt but it was sold to me a suitable for lawn coverage which it was not.

Review: Called Don on the phone and ordered 10 yards of topsoil after finding out that there was no delivery charge for 10 yards. I told Don that I wanted it to grow nicer grass after killing all the moss in the front yard. He said he could get there in 1-1/2 hrs. I thought that was very prompt service but after starting to use the topsoil I discovered that it was 1/3 stone (of many sizes)and not quality dirt suitable for growing grass but only as clean landfill. I called him twice and left messages. On the third call, he answered and I gave him my complaint and said that when I told him what I wanted to do with it he should have told me that there was a lot of stone and given me the chance to say I did not want a lot of stone. He said that no other customers have complained. (not likely) He should have explained that screened topsoil costs a lot more and given me the chance to decline the sale. I, at that time, did not know that topsoil was sold screened and unscreened. If he were a responsible businessman, he would have informed me of what I was getting. I have spent over two weeks screening the soil spending 4 to 6 hrs a day doing it. I continued to call and he hung up on me twice with the excuse that his phone cut out, which I do not believe. I called on Friday 9/5 an left a message that he had until Monday to come and pick up the rest of the landfill (about half) or I was going to contact the Revdex.com and possibly the local police in his town. I have not heard from him and he has not answered my calls. He is an irresponsible businessman and cares nothing about his customer. My time is as precious as anyones and I've spent much too much of it sifting his lousy product.Desired Settlement: I would like him to come and pick up the balance of the landfill before I waste another 2 weeks making it suitable for my purposes.
