Door Systems, Inc. Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***Please add your rejection comments below.
I called and asked specifically for an
estimate. When I did so, I was asked if
I wanted a service call or sales call. I
asked what the difference was and there was never a mention of cost. I believe the cost should have been mentioned
here as a fee of $($discounted) is a pretty substantial difference between
the two options. I repeatedly asked for
an estimate. The definition of what “service”
is continues to change throughout my interactions with Door Systems, Inc. According to their response here, it seems to
encompass everything but installing a new door where there has never been one
before. I was told by two individuals at
Door Systems Incthat estimates were free but my visit was a service call and
that is why I incurred the chargeNo services were provided and I made it
clear what was needed to remedy the situation when I asked for an estimate on
the door. In
their response it states that it is my responsibility to ask if a company will
charge me for any interaction I have with them. It should be noted that a member of Door Systems, Inc, the individual
who came out for the estimate, was asked if I would incur a charge for the
estimate and he stated that I would not be charged. I believe I made an effort to inquire about
possible costs on many occasions in my interaction with this company and I
believe it is the responsibility of the business to disclose and not withhold
information on charges that may be incurred when their employees interact with
customers. For this reason, I do not I
owe Door Systems, Incmoney for “services” when none were rendered.

Mr. [redacted] did call Door Systems, asking for a service call.  He said there was a crease and he did not know if it could be fixed but wanted a tech to come out and try to fix it.  He never asked how much the service call would be. We charge $143 for anything up to an hour of on-job...

time, plus the cost of parts.  We go out with the intention of trying to fix the problem. He never said he was looking for an estimate.  Had he done that, I would have told him that we do not give on-site estimates for service, only for door sales.  He feels that the onus is not on the consumer to find out how much something costs before inviting a service person out. I charged him $75 instead of the $143 because it was determined that we could not fix the problem without having sales go out to get the information for a new section. When he called the office to complain, I told him just what I have written here. He called back and read me what he was going to write to you.  I told him he needed to change something he wrote because he said that I told him  we "do not offer free estimates at any time and that it is not company policy to alert consumers of charges for estimates." I told him that we offer estimates for sales to go to estimate for a new door and I explained that as a consumer, he should ask for the charges ahead of time.
