And this is just the highlights.
If you want to hunt these people down for 5 months (from March 2 to July 11) to get your door, they are the outfit for you. And, did I mention you won't ever have to sign a contract for their work either! All kidding aside "Buyer Beware!" Our door & install was roughly $9300, was to be installed in April. It was installed on July 12th, after numerous calls, emails, - finally tracked owner down in person. Insisted on seeing product. Now for fun part. They do not use normal contract paperwork . You get an estimate, and give them a deposit ($5000 Mar. 2) . I had to ask for an invoice. And, if you are unfortunate enough to die after that, my loved one did, you will never hear from them again. In fact, your family will spend countless hours sorting out what Mr. Bob is actually going to do and when. He could not provide us with a signed contract. You will also be at the mercy of him telling you what he discussed (and never put in writing) with that dead loved one.
The install was on July 12. Door came with no warranty, no instructions, and no paperwork is ever signed off by you & the installer. Exterior will look great. They make sure of that - that's what they use for advertising photos. They will place a sign in your yard.
Lets talk interior damages. You are paying an installer $1260 for one day of work for 1 door. In my case - I repeatedly asked if any additional carpentry etc would be needed for project ( 2-3 weeks in advance: in person, verbally & email). Advised "No". So I am thinking all is well. I am told they will do install, exterior, interior for price quoted.
They ripped off interior white trim work - large area with arch and took it all outside on the lawn. Surprise! Later they bring back in the house to reinstall ?? It was chipped, damaged. They nail it up with a nail gun - all holes just left. No caulking. No painting or sanding. Nicks, dings, and even sprayed black spray paint on the trim. I advised none of this was expected. (Owner states he had verbal agreement w/my deceased loved one to do the work this way to cut cost.) Of course nothing in writing. "We do this to save you money." Honestly folks, he drives a new Mercedes and he is buying a $9300 door! They had our money & we were screwed. So here is what we are left with.
1.)A damaged wall - they sprayed WD 40 on 4' x 3' area of entry wall.
2.)Custom glass - arrived with 4" x 1/4" frosted scratch
3.)The interior window/door latches are installed incorrectly
4.)All of the interior door trim is damaged - holes, chips, scratches, black paint looks like it came from a scrap yard.
5.)The hard wood floors are scratched
6.) The wall around area interior trim ripped - stained in areas with black residue and/or paint torn off.
7.) Black paint on same pane that was scratched.
Owner advises they are not responsible for any interior damages on their jobs. (Which is probably why he did not provide a warranty on his work and no written nor contract. Thank God we took pictures of this entry way and trim before the work was started. You will hopefully be able to see my story on the internet soon.
