[redacted] brought in 3 dresses and 1 pants to be cleaned and 1 black laced dress to be mended and cleaned. That dress had tear in the back. When I showed it to my tailor, she said that it couldn't be sewn on lace but she needed to attach backing material underneath the tear so that she could sew...

it with machine. I clearly explained it to the customer. cost was $15 for sewing and $ 12 for cleaning. Backup material was adhesive material and glue was melted after it had been drycleaned. It was little noticeable since she used material little bigger than damaged area to make it sturdy. [redacted] was so upset about the result. She thought that dress was ruined and she said she wanted it to be exactly the way it was brought in. Otherwise I should pay for the dress. I said I should talk to my tailor first and see if dress could be fixed again. Initially, she paid $64.00 for total cost of drycleaning and sewing. But she came back and she didn't want to pay for the dress. So I took out $27 and adjusted the amount to $37.00. My tailor managed to take out adhesive material and use another one small enough to cover damaged area for backing and sew on top of it. It was nicely done. But she was preoccupied with result at first time and still claimed it was ruined. she wanted me to pay for partial amount of whatever the cost was when she had bought it. So I said to her that I would ask my tailor to open the seam and make it exactly the way it was and give it to her. She said it was too late the dress was ruined already. But dress with tear has zero value. It was not a new dress with good condition. I could not agree with her that we should pay for dress which had tear originally. It was not very reliable that dress was ruined. All the laces were intact with sewing. if it was burned just as she claimed it to be, all the laces would have been disfigured and discontinued but they were totally continued and intact. She also said fee ling of textures are different between that of damaged area and undamaged area. At that time, I couldn't understand why she was so obsessive with the clothes. She was refunded the amount of repair and cleaning. The dress was not burned and destroyed. So we don't have any responsibility to pay for any part of the cost of the dress.
