Buyer Beware We bought a pre-owned car from Springfield Imports, LLCIt was a purchase and we are well aware of what that means When we test drove it I mentioned a funny smell in the car and the salesman said that it had been recently cleaned and the cleaning chemicals were probably what we were smellingIt did smell like chemicals, and so we believed him and thought it just needed to be airedAlso my husband had noticed a bunch of wires in the engine had the casing stripped away as though they'd been chewed on by rodentsHe commented on it looking like that, and was told by the salesmen not to worryThat the frayed wires were caused by a testing probe, we believed this also However after owning it two days the chemical smell went away and an awful smell was left behindA combination sour/garbage smell that actually clung to your clothes if you drove itIt was Bad! We called them to give them a chance to repair the situationWhen we took it back they said they couldn't really smell anything but to "make us happy" they would have a man they know with an ozone generator treat the car and we would go from there We got the call that it was ready and we could come there and smell it and see what we thoughtWe did, and we could tell it had been treated, but unfortunately the smell was only lessened not gone, and we could tell it the minute we opened the doors, but the same saleman said he couldn't smell it So, we asked what could be done about it because the smell was so bad we couldn't drive itWe had only had it a few days, had driven it less than miles, and hadn't even picked up the title from them yetWe were told all they could do was treat it as a trade in on another car there, but, not at the same value we had paid just days beforeOr, find out what their bank valued the car at, and buy it back at that price, which by the way, was about half of what we had paid just a few days before After we drove it back home we did a thorough visual search even taking out the cabin air filter and looking closely at everything in the interiorWe found rodent droppings in the air filter and underneath the spare tire in the trunkOn the back seat some of the padding had been chewed and was exposed and falling out I am posting this so that others won't have the bad experience we had at this dealershipThey obviously knew what was wrong with this vehicle, a rodent infestationThe only conclusion we can come to is they tried covering the smell of what was probably exterminator spray and the chewed wires in the engineThe only fix they offered was a traso we could spend more money at a dealership that had been dishonest with us in the first place, or a refund of about half of what we had paid There are a lot of dealerships in Springfield, there's no reason you should have to go through the problems we have
