ambiguous, especially state by state, but counsel recommended honoring the gift certificate which we issued though it clearly indicates a one year expiration date which had passed at the time of customer contact. As such Dots 'N Doodles has adjusted the expiration date on our gift certificates to reflect a five year period before expiration, with an inactivity fee which would go into effect if the gift certificate had been inactive for at least one year.To that end Dots 'N Doodles contacted the complainant the following morning of the incident at 10:00 am (3/2/2018) and received the messaging system. A message was left stating that the customer is able to use her gift certificate, which MUST be present at the time of the purchase. Additionally in good faith, Dots 'N Doodles will refund the $50.00 for the gift certificate, though we do not normally do that to satisfy the customer. Actions taken:1. Customer contacted on 3/218 and message left customer can uses her gift certificate.2. Customer is able to get the gift certificate refunded.3. All gift certificates have been and are being revised to reflect a 5 year expiration period, with an inactivity fee if not used for a period of 12 months, including all gift certificates that have been issuedprior to the discovery of statute regulations.
