VERY BA**BUSINESS
My family and I rented a jetski from this company called **uble **(Owned by a guy name [redacted] and his son **) when we went to a lake for the weekend approximately on the 3rd week of June 2012 last month. The rental fee per day was $350 (expensive to begin with but they were the closest one to the lake) with a $500 deposit. The jetski was a 3 seater and an older model too. Anyhow, a rope got caught inside the propeller area and we didn't know exactly what happened at first until we dropped off the jetski but we told them that the jetski had stopped working. They accused us that we knew what had happened but we really didn't cuz we checked the exhaust and didn't see anything stuck (they found out cuz they looked under the jetski and we wouldn't have known to look under).
I told the owner to call me once he finds out so I can authorize it or have a 2nd opinion from another professional jetski mechanic on whether the propeller needed replacement. Well, I never received any calls and he charged me the $500 deposit. When I called today, he said that he felt that he didn't need to give me a courtesy call because he was "hooking me up". he said that the cost was over $730+ on labor and parts and he only charged me my $500 deposit. I told him that I have been waiting for a call and deserved an explanation if I was going to be charged that much. I told him that I did not authorized that and he should have called me. I asked for receipts and an invoice but he said that he can't provide that or he can give it to me, but he'll have to charge me the "extra amount" I supposedly owed. It just just not make any sense at all and seemed very disturbing. He was upset and defensive when I called him out on that. So his ultimatum was, either take the $500 loss, or I get an invoice worth $730+ and pay the difference. I had NO way of finding out whether he did replace the propeller or not. The owner [redacted] just threatened me that he will charge me extra if I wanted an invoice. So in short, I did not authorize the payment for NO proof of work done (He could have just said that it had to be replaced when it was not and just charged me for it). The whole thing just seemed very shady.
