The roof has now been taken off and a new roof installed with no additional cost to the customerWe are working with them so they are happy with the results

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: This is not a resolution. This is combative and threatening and unprofessional. I have been reasonable and fair this entire process. I am not trying to be slanderous nor am I just trying to ruin business. I really feel some dishonest acts have taken place and hoped for a better response than the condescending reply I received from the owner's son. First of all, I have sold the home. I did not need to take out a claim on my insurance. The roof was in perfect condition in April when a home inspection was done by the owner's request in preparation for purchasing the home. I have the report. The damage caused by the hail storm was unknown to me because it was not living in the home at the time. Nor were any of my neighbors who did live in their homes aware there was any damage until it was solicited by your business. Several have said they are not sure they would have done it if they could go back. That they would have gotten second opinions or done business with someone else. It was not a good experience for many, not just me. I could have said "No" to filing a claim. I did not owe this family anything. In fact, the closing of our house did not go well and I got taken in some closing costs that were also not honest and I should have probably let them pay out of pocket to fix their roof. But I felt it was the right thing to do, regardless of the history. I am not vindictive and I try to do the right thing. There is no reason for me to protect this family. But I submitted that as part of the remedy that their garage be fixed. This is because just last Friday the owner said she was still holding on to some of the money because the roof was only primed rather than fixed and not done to their satisfaction. I didn't need to take up their banner in this cause, but I think it is the right thing to do as part of the remedy. They can work that out. She has the money. We have been asking for a bill since September. I have multiple texts from her that he is promising to bring it. I know you are trying to defend your poor billing by saying that "no one has ever complained about keeping their money longer". This is money that was dispensed by insurance and has been held waiting for a bill for two months. My conversations with the insurance were that the total $15,was for the roof only. We have never had anything about the siding. And I also have multiple texts from the owner as well as in person where she disclosed to me that Brandon did indeed tell them they would inflate costs to cover the additional renovations to the roof. I am not arguing that the entire roof was re-shingled. I know there was damage to the siding on the west side and some window seals. However, the new slope over the entry and the vents have been added. Who paid for them? The family has not paid any money out of pocket yet and are very unhappy they have been asked to, because they said they were told it would all be coveredWe recently had a claim in my mother-in-law's home from some flooding in the master bath which destroyed the newly remodeled downstairs in two rooms and bathroom. While they had it open, we opted for new pipes in a year old house. We also decided that we needed to carpet the other two bedrooms while we were getting hers done. We paid for all of that out of pocket. When you choose to make upgrades that are not part of the original bid, you pay for it. The family admitted that Brandon promised them that he would "inflate the prices on the roof to cover the siding and windows". I have several texts from the family that "all because he is being greedy". I don't see why they are unhappy with me. I don't need to expose them, but I do have evidence of them always pointing the finger at his dishonest practices in this deal. I have been forthright with the family. They have everything I have from the insurance. I have added up the numbers for them. I have bent over backward to take care of them and now they are talking out both sides of their mouths in an effort to protect the dishonest deal with a friend. I wish you would just take responsibility that he (as a family friend) told this couple that he would do a great deal for them and my insurance would cover itI am still willing to cover the cost of the siding being replaced. I will pay another company the amount agreed to by the insurance. I told the family to get some bids and I will approve it and pay itI am not trying to keep anything from their home repair that they are justified in getting. I have been very open and honest with my insurance. They have been confused at all the requests for more money, as have I. In our mother-in-law's case the entire thing was done in two months. Payment up front for about half of the cost. We had a few contractors and did much of the labor ourselves. Submitted pictures and receipts and were paid out the depreciated value. Done! If only your business functioned in a timely and honest way - I would not have questioned the repeated calls, letters, etcfrom my insurance wondering if I had approved for new particle board to be put on the entire roof because your shingles were not sticking. I didn't know it was a problemI asked the owner and they said that was not done. It was not on the bill. The home is practically new. And don't you have a better remedy than replacing ALL the boards just because your glue is not working? It seemed fishy. It has proven to be fishy . .and dishonest. You have been paid the amount agreed to (save what the family still has in their possession pending the garage repair). There is not deductible owed you. If the family chooses to fix the siding, I will work with them on that. I hope you will be a little more solution oriented and not try and defend bad practices by trying to make me look uninformed. I am fine with you showing your attorney. I have not said or done anything that is unjustified or exaggerated. I have all the evidence I needI am not afraid of that threat and personally feel that you are a poor problem solver for suggesting it. Thank you for your time. ***s ***

My name is Josh M***, I am an owner of Doug’s RepairFirst of all I want to say that I have never had a complaint about me letting customers keep their money longerI wish that more customers would complain about thatI do apologize if this aspect has frustrated you as it has also frustrated me
and has been a growing pain of oursWe are working to make sure our billing is promptPart of the reason why it has taken so long is that we were under the impression that we were going to do more work than the roofIt has been made clear that we aren’t doing more work and we then moved forward with billing I want to cover all of the points that have been brought up I would dispute that the inspector suggested “some repairs” as your adjuster who you are referring to as your inspector totaled your entire roofThis is why we replaced your entire roof, that is not “some repairs” as stated by you, that is your entire roof There was damage that was done to the house beyond the roof, which is why the $15,was requestedI don’t understand why anyone would be mad that we are trying to get their insurance to pay for more things that are related to the storm damageWe never said that we would inflate the cost to cover all of the upgradesWe did however discuss finding all storm related damages to the propertyThis gives the homeowner the opportunity to receive all of the money that the insurance company should pay related to the homeowners ACV (Actual Cash Value)This does not mean that Doug’s Repair is requesting to be paid the ACV amount for the work that hasn’t been done from the homeowner, or the RCV (Replacement Cash Value) for the work that hasn’t been done from the insurance companyIt would be considered insurance fraud if we were trying to receive RCV for work not completed We stand behind the fact that we will only charge what the insurance will payWe have had a conversation with ***s ***’s insurance company over the phone, and that phone call is recorded, in which they told us they paid $for the roofWe had already agreed to drop it to that amount with the current homeowner before the complaint was written We use Xactimate, which is the same program that *** ***’s insurance company usesYou can call them and confirm thatThis allows us to have the same pricing as them because we can download pricing lists for that month that they also haveThe only discrepancies in price would be quantities of materials and code requirements that the insurance company is unaware ofThis is why the insurance company agreed to increase their numbers for the roof to $from The one thing that we don’t do, is tell people we will pay their deductibleThat is something that we make very clear on every job that we go to because that is actually committing insurance fraudWe are not expecting a deductible to come to us we are expecting the amount of $to be paid to us, which is the amount that the insurance agreed to pay for the roof The garage repair was taken care around two weeks after we heard about it and has been taken care of over a week before this complaint was written The complete replacement of your roof, not “repairs” of your home were not done in the rainIt was started and then half way through it rained without our controlLuckily our roofers are skilled enough that they worked as fast as possible to let there only be one leak that was 2ftx2ft in the garageOnce again the damage to the sheetrock was taken care of over a week before this complaint was written We have talked to the current homeowners and are going to send them a copy of this complaintThey are extremely upset that any of this has been said about them and that ***s *** is implicating them by misconstruing and being dishonest about what they talked about concerning this situation The things that have been written by *** *** in this complaint are considered slander towards the current homeowners, Brandon B***, and Doug’s Repair and we will be having our attorney review them
