We contracted with Mr [redacted] to install a new hard drive, and to reprogram his computer The consumer is confused Data Transfer and Data Recovery are two seperate technical actions One does not require the other We did a complementary data transfer from his old hard drive which is a standard practice with all of our customers It was complete per his instructions and his agreement Data Recovery was not contracted for, and he was not charged by this company for the same Just because he states that he was charged by another company for data recovery does not make Doug's Laptop Shop, LLC responsible in any manner Mr [redacted] was given his old hard drive with all of his data in place What he did with that hard drive after it left our office is by his authorization We were not aware that he was taking this to a professional data recovery service Mr [redacted] refuses to give us the name and credentials of the company that performed this service, and cannot establish a chain of custody for the hard drive I am sorry that this will be in unresolved complaint We performed our written agreement in full
Mr [redacted] agreed that the data set we retrieved was the correct one Later he took it to an unauthorized dealer who retrieved a different set of data As outlined in our letter, he would not give me the name of the company or the credentials of the perosn who retrieved the data There will be no refund for this customer We did provide him with a $gift certificate [redacted] ***
