Purchased vehicle July 12, I was promised a title within daysIt went from a day waiting period to daysFrom there it was a promise to guarantee a title be put in my hands or my money was to be given back in fullAs I patiently waited and gave extra time, I began to have a problem with the headlightsSalesman agreed to check out the situation and asked me to leave the vehicle overnightI asked why did he need me to leave it overnight when I didnt have the money for it to be worked onAnd also proceeded to ask about my title, he then became angryI said January 12th would be six months of riding with a temporary tag and no legal paperwork to have it registeredHe then told me take my car to have it fixed by someone else and not to ask him anymore questions about the vehicle and actual title

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:Please see attached imageThis is one of several sections of the roof of the porchIt is all mildewed, because (as several construction/roofing people have confirmed) the roof is poorly designed and in fact improperly done, because Mr *** put shingles on a roof that does not have the degree of slant required - rolled roofing should have been used And I NEVER agreed to the use of untreated lumber (I cannot state this strongly enoughWhile I feel foolish for hiring this man, I DO know enough about using lumber outdoors that I would, I repeat, NEVER have agreed to untreated lumber)My memory of the only discussion we had about that subject was that he said, Of course, I'll use treated lumberSaying I agreed to untreated lumber is him revising historyIn the the circumstance of the ceiling of the porch roof, if the roof weren't leaking, there would be no mildew, period As far as the screen door goes, the screen blows out when it's windyThat's not a small thingNot to mention that it rarely closes properly Also, there is not a square angle in the place I don't demand perfection, but the screen should stay in place on a screened door and the door should be able to close, and a roof shouldn't leak The design is poor He demanded payment to meet payroll, and I really never got time in the daylight to review this workI have hired someone else to remove the roof and rectify this terrible work, and it will be very expensiveI have many other photos, and could forward my text correspondence to demonstrate the lack of interest he has in customer servicePlease advise
Sincerely,

I’ve done everything in my power for this ladyNothing was up to her expectationsShe said she was happy with everything and then months later calls me up about a minor issue that the screen has come out of her doorway and that a piece of wood has mold on itI explained to her that difference
treated, non-treated and sealed wood and she decided to go with the cheap oneI told her you get what you pay forShe decided she couldn’t afford to have the sealed or treated woodShe decided to spray sealer on her woodI don’t care, she can do what she wants, it’s her woodShe complains and says she was going to run my business reputation in the groundI gave her more than what she asked for

My husband does his homework and does not make snap decisions. He researched Douglas Contracting and even went to see some of his work before hiring him. I even emailed him with extra questions, having hardly spoken to him before, and he was very accommodating and explanatory about his process.
I was impressed, and that does not happen often.
We were very pleased with the beautiful porch he built for us. We had many ideas throughout, and he patiently worked with us to design just what we wanted. He also made suggestions we had not thought about but loved once we saw the results.
I would hire him again in a heartbeat and recommend his work to anyone who wants a creative, accommodating, personable, and fair professional. Great work!

Being in business more than 24 years and most of them being referrals says a lot in itself but pictures are worth a thousand words. See Douglas Contracting website as well as his other sites for his photos. They show his excellent quality of work. Doug is the most honest contractor I know and works hard to please his clients. He does many extras no other contractor I know offers. Starting a construction project is not an easy process but Doug takes the time to explain the process. It is not an easy job and the best thing you can do to start the project off smoothly is to make as many upfront decisions as possible. Changes during the project delays the contractor, the ordering and the subcontractors. Doug will explain the entire process with you.... so give him a call.

Very impressed with our new kitchen. Douglas Contracting did a fabulous job and we plan to use them for future renovations.","pos-2

Douglas Contracting is an honest and fair contracting company. Having work done to your home can be stressful and daunting, but Doug and his crew make it easy by being professional and easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate. His work is beautiful!

Douglas Contracting is an honest business who does beautiful work. Their attention to detail is amazing. Doug is an honest contractor who is willing to go above and beyond even when the going gets tough. This is the guy you want for a renovation!","pos-5

We worked with Douglas Contracting in 2008 to add square footage to the back of our house and an unfinished second floor. The project was within budget and took 8 months. There were ups and downs during the project, but, Douglas Contracting answered our questions and concerns and worked with us when we wanted something done a certain way. Most importantly, Douglas Contracting fixed issues we found after moving back into the house after the renovation was completed.

I have seen Douglas Contracting work and LOVE their bathroom! It is like a spa from heaven and my favorite is the big gigantic shower with all the body sprays. Doug is a laid back, easy to work with kind of guy and I would highly recommend him and his work.

This general contractor ([redacted]) was very dishonest and incompetent. In February 2015, he agreed to do my job for $16,050, which was a fair price. He completed 50% of the job after getting $10,000. The good, the bad, and the ugly included:
• Electrical work was excellent (subcontractor - [redacted] Price XXX-XXX-XXXX).
• Drywall/painting work was excellent (subcontractor - [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX)
• Tile work was okay but the subcontractor is dishonest so beware [redacted] Installer, Inc.).
• Plumbing work was terrible [redacted] and they caused a lot of damage to my house.
• The new plumber I hired to fix everything was excellent ([redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX).
• [redacted] was an incompetent general contractor; I ended up doing that work.
• The framing was terrible ([redacted] did the framing).
• [redacted] comes across as an honest, good person. For example, his bid came in fair and he prefers to do jobs with no signed contract, only a handshake. Yes, I was a fool to fall for that one.
• [redacted] took me to small claims court. Prior to seeing the judge I asked him how much he thought I owed him; he told me about $6,000. Then he proceeded to tell the judge I owed him $16,000 - an example of his blatant dishonesty. The judge ruled in my favor; I was ordered to pay "$0".
o [redacted] (tile subcontractor) and [redacted] provided affidavits that were full of lies, so beware.
o [redacted] talked about how great he is because of his online ratings; however, since he had no reviews his rating is irrelevant.
• My daughter had done a much bigger job ($100k insurance job) with [redacted], but there was a detailed, signed contract. She had similar disputes with him, but was able to get him to go by the contract. Yes, I've learned my lesson.
• The cabinet company was excellent [redacted] - [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX).
• The countertop company was excellent [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX).
• [redacted] posted an extremely unprofessional response to my review on [redacted]'s [redacted] further supporting my claims.

Doug remodeled our house to accommodate a new kitchen with 10 ft island. It is by far my favorite room in the house. The island can seat our whole family of 5 and we also have room within the space for a large dining table and seating area. We are always getting compliments on our kitchen. The bar area is the cherry on top with beautiful glass doors, lattice wine rack. We also have a sink and drink refrigerator here. Doug was also very kind to my two year old son who loved following him around. We are getting ready to work on our fourth project with Douglas Contracting.
