Trying to scam my husband and I because he is in the military. Our truck was blowing cool air but not cold so Instead of him performing the recharge service himself, he thought it would be quicker to just get it done somewhere in town since all he needed to do was recharge the system. Well AFTER we decided to come to this facility and they worked on our truck, they informed us that if it starts blowing hot air (which it never has since we owned the truck) to come back two days later which means that they could have overcharged it and/or a caused a leak. Sure enough two days later extremely hot air was present in the vents. This time my husband decided to go to the auto skills & hobby shop on base where they informed him that something fishy has happened to his truck. When they did the leak test, there was a leak and when they tried to find it happened to be the high side service port where you attach the ac service lines to. It was apparent that it was taken off and tampered with. This part is not supposed to be taken off to recharge the a/c. You can see wrench marks and the O-ring inside was clearly tampered with since it looks as if it was purposely removed to make the air conditioning malfunction. Well that was the leak and the reasoning why the air conditioner was blowing hot air.Desired SettlementWe are seeking a refund for the recharging of the A/C and a refund for the part that was tampered with (10.59). Business Response /[redacted]/On 14 June 2015 we serviced the AC system on [redacted]'s 1999 Chevy Silverado. As our procedures, we remove any Freon in the system, vacuum and add Freon as per factory specifications. The vehicle AC was blowing cold air when it left. If the AC is not working or is low on Freon, then there is generally a leak. We tell all of our customers if the AC stops blowing cold we will re inspect it at no charge to determine where the leak is at. [redacted] did not give us that chance to re inspect his vehicle. It is not possible to over charge a system to cause a leak. There are switches that prevent the AC from coming on if the system is over charged. As far as the wrench marks on the high side fitting, I do not have an answer for that. We only use the low side port to vacuum and service.Thank you[redacted] Owner

I own an older car, a 1971 chevelle. I do most of the work on it however I needed assistance tuning the brand new carburetor I installed. The people at Dougs car care said they could do the job. After one day they called me to quote the price of $950 because the carburetor "has been worked on too much". Little did they know it was a brand new carburetor that hadn't been worked on at all. it just needed the idle adjustment screws tuned in. After I told them I would not do that they charged me $99 for the diagnostic. I explained the diagnostic was incorrect and a lie. the Lady told me "you don't have to trust the mechanic but I do". I had to pay the $99 to get my car released. once it was at another mechanic they adjusted the carb (the two idle adjustment screws) and it runs beautifully now. In fact he didn't charge me anything for labor because it was such a simple fix. The staff at Dougs car care lied to me about the problem hoping that I would not know any better and attempted to charge me almost a thousand dollars for something that did not need to be done. Im writing this complaint because I can only imagine this is standard practice and how many people out there have been paying for jobs and did not know any better. If it wasn't for my previous experience with cars I would have paid them.Desired SettlementProvide feedback to the management at Dougs car care that this sort of business practice is wrong. Refund the diagnostic cost I was charged for a diagnostic that was obviously bogus and the technician lied about. Business Response /[redacted]/I would need to see several things prior to providing a refund. I would need to see the vehicle, I would need to see the repair order to see what repairs were made and contact information to whom made the repairs. Thank You [redacted].
